BE WARNED...
....this project might seem VERY WEIRD to the average NORMAL person....but, Mr. Sweet and I have NEVER claimed to be NORMAL.
"ONCE UPON A TIME, THERE WERE 3 LITTLE PIGS,"
NO....WAIT....that's ANOTHER story...
"ONCE UPON A TIME, THERE WAS A LARGE WALL....WITHOUT WINDOWS."
***
A wall that was in dire need of NATURAL WICKER paint....
but that is ALSO another story.
***
♥
These lovely wooden shutters caught her eye and a DREAM begin to form in her queenly head, topped with the silver hair of olden Queens.
♥
She rushed back to the
SUMMER HOUSE CASTLE
as fast as her tiny, dainty feet would carry her.....(size 8 IS dainty.....RIGHT ? )
"Mr. Sweet......ooo, Mr. Sweet....where are you, my dear man? I have the most wonderful project for you, uh, us to do.
I know how much you simply ADORE doing these home projects....and you are sooo good at them...and you have been wanting to start a project ever since we moved into this lovely house by the sea swimming pool."
After I described what I wanted to do,
he got out tools (oh, I get just GIDDY when he gets out his manly tools...)*blushing here...
i mean his hammers, nails, levels, pliers, glue....
it all just goes to my head like a glass of RED WINE...♥
While he drilled, hammered, drew plans,
measured, cut, drew MORE plans, I was busy, too.......
PAINTING....
FIRST.....buying two mirrors on sale at KIRKLAND'S
then, because they were the wrong color and I couldn't find the right white ones,
I sanded, primed and painted these two $29.00 ea mirrors a pretty
WHITE ENAMEL...
yep....ENAMEL.
I also spray painted those thrifted wooden shutters ....(they were $8 each)
WHITE ENAMEL.
(those aren't SPOTS...just shadows)
This man can do ANYthing...and he's especially good at building things I want....
and he has the patience of JOBE....and I must have been out of the country when GOD handed out patience because I have
ABSOLUTELY NONE....!!
He so carefully measures every single thing and I tap my feet to move along a little faster but MY projects turn out UGLY while his are wonderful ♥
Well, to make a long story short...
Mr. Sweet built faux windows..
Now, some folks may think this is such a SILLY project..
building faux windows.
But, you can't imagine the difference in the look of the room...
more light bouncing around the whole room with these MIRROR WINDOWS...
THEY give the room depth..making the room appear larger and more open.
I LUV THEM SOOOO MUCH.
THIS part of the living room is TOTALLY WINDOWLESS...
and WE NEEDED WINDOWS...
or at least something that resembled windows.
For those that missed earlier posts about this amazing pool house...
THIS part of OUR living room was built and housed
ONE LARGE POOL TABLE.
I am guessing the man just didn't see reasons to have windows
in his custom built pool room.

Didn't Mr. Sweet do an awesome job...
he even built a windowsill ! !
This is the one on the right side of the fireplace mantel.
(pure sweet love going on here.)
This is the one on the left of the vintage fireplace mantel.
(oh my gosh...i am LOVIN' this)
We could have had REAL windows put in.
We decided not to.....for several very good reasons.
♥
I am happy...
Mr. Sweet is happy...
because these two "windows" look fantastic,
they reflect the light from the larger window across the room,
they make this end of the living room look larger, (I know...I'm repeating myself)
they were SO inexpensive to make,
and did I say
I LOVE THEM...?

You did amaze me on Monday...what a idea from seeing some shutters in a thrift store. If only my mind would work this way. Mr Sweet does a great job, but you have the creativity. I would love to see them both together in a photo.
ReplyDeleteAmazing . . . better hold on to that man of yours . . . I have several projects in mind!
ReplyDeleteYou make a great team . . . You have the ideas, he makes them happen!
Oh my, he is amazing!! How gifted he is. And of course you are too! You have such a vision and things look fantastically beautiful! I love these...

Gert
They turned out really great. And what a great way to get what you want without the headache of construction!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful.....if I could I'd have my own big wood working barn. Hubby is not very crafty ;)
ReplyDeleteApplause!!! I love them.
ReplyDeleteAnd you should have seen the giggle-face that I got reading about the manly tools. LOLOL
Wow, bj, your Mr. Sweet can do anything with his manly tools!! LOL!! The reflection in the window from the other window makes a double delight. You are a genius for thinking of this and then how awesome it turned out.
ReplyDeleteYes, delicious faux windows with mirrors! Good work!
ReplyDeleteHi BJ,
ReplyDeleteYour faux windows reflect a color that appears to be BLUE; therefore they are indeed PERFECT! Thanks for sharing. (Give that hunk an extra hug from me.)
Have a Beautiful Blue Monday!
BJ - All looking good!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great project! Can I ask what you used to get the effect of smaller panes on the mirror? They look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteAnother great idea. You and Mr. Sweet did a wonderful job. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteLooks fantastic!!! Thanks so much for sharing at AMAZE ME MONDAY...
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
It looks great! I did that in my windowless Powder Room. i even hung a valance above it so it seems more window like. Enjoy yournew window!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for another week!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea and it turned out beautifully! Love the shutters too.
ReplyDeleteHi bj, I truly adore the mirror window with shutters. It is a work of genius. Yours for buying the them and Mr Sweet for making them look so real. The windowsill is the perfect finish for the project. I have a fake window in my laundry room for the same reason. I LUV mine too. I too am a "dainty" size 8. Dainty is size 8 and below. HA!
ReplyDeleteI am still smiling after reading your lovely story.
Love you much,
Jeanne
Wow so smart what a lovely transformation. You always make me smile! I tap my foot too! BTW add a pumpkin to it and call it Fall and come by and link up! So I can enter you in the give a way! Have a great week.

Whatever will you think if next. Mr. Sweet is a truly wonderful handyman. He saves a lot of money and does things perfectly. I am sure he is not perfect, none of us are, but you are blessed with this talented man. HOWEVER, THERE IS NOT ANY FLIES ON YOU EITHER. THE WINDOWS LOOKS REAL.
ReplyDeleteThree cheers for creativity and Mr. Sweet!
ReplyDeleteI love how it turned out!
ReplyDeleteYou are too funny, BJ! The mirrored windows look charming and they definitely do add more light and space to a room!
