Apples are so open to so many recipes...
Cakes
Pies
Cobblers
Raw
and a ton more...
My sweet blogging friend, VEE, shared with me a few years ago
this AMAZING recipe
this AMAZING recipe
that is quick and so so easy,
using apples.
She suggested using little green apples...
peel an apple and slice up...place some butter in a fry pan, add apple slices, sprinkle with sugar and some cinnamon add a small bit of water and simmer down until the apples are soft. Toast a piece of bread, place cheese slice (I use cheddar or American, but others are a possibility) on the toast, top with simmered apples and place in broiler until the cheese has melted. Mine is almost ready...house smells so good! This is an old Weight Watchers recipe from the 1960
When it came time for lunch this day,
all I could think about was this delicious apple treat....♥
Not even ONE little green apple did I have.....
but I had some red ones...
FUJI ....
FUJI apples are one of my favorite...
great flavor...
crisp...
and thin skinned.
Since the skins ARE thin,
I just washed the apple and chopped it, skin and all....
real butter into the skillet...
apples...
cinnamon and sugar...and don't forget a tad bit of water...
Not a slice of cheese did I have but,
extra sharp SHREDDED cheddar cheese came to my rescue...
and with all these subs,
it was a DELIGHTful lunch...
♥ ♥ ♥

ReplyDeleteI often do the WW, cut up apple, bit of water, cinnamon and sugar . . .
ReplyDeleteand then microwave it . . .
Gives one a sweet treat in just a few seconds . . .
I have never tried apple with the cheese/toast . . .
Not a fan of cheese with apples . . .
I know it is a staple though, for many.
It looks delicious!Hugs!

How about them apples?
ReplyDeleteYou are the best at making things from scratch and using so many different variations. I could smell it all the way here.
ReplyDeleteBJ, That does sound tasty. I think I am going to try it one day by myself...not sure Ted would love it. Unlass a big slab of ham was on the side. LOL. I make do lots of times, I think that's how recipes get started. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

I remember when Vee shared this! Still sounds and looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteLooks so good!!
ReplyDeleteThat's so smart - we almost always have a wrinkly apple or two. I so love cheese on my apple pie - this looks like it would be similar. Can't wait to try it!!
ReplyDeleteOH SO GOOD! I kind of remember that recipe from WW many years ago. I think they had me using ricotta cheese and called it some fancy name. lol....Thanks for reminding me. It sounds really good and is good for Fall, too! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteMakes me wish that I had an apple! πππ
ReplyDeleteI like apples but rarely buy them. If Someone gives me a bushel of Apples, then I will make all kinds of apple treats.
ReplyDeleteThis one looks delicious.

ReplyDeleteHello dear bj!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing Vee's recipe. It does look delightful. Happy to see a post. I've been off my blogging routine for several weeks now. Hope all is well in Texas!
Yum! I can almost smell the delicious aroma!!
ReplyDeleteI love apples and these looks so yummy, but for now I'm not suppose to eat them. Bj I have been on Atkins Low Carb for a year and a half and lost 62 lbs. My doctor has even taken me off blood pressure meds. I feel so much better. Thanks for your sweet comment on my blog. I still am not getting comments sent to my emails.
ReplyDeleteBJ, I should never look at your blog when I'm hungry! This looks SO GOOD and it's nearly apple season here!
