I don't think I've ever shared photos of the one bath in the Summer House.
This is a nice sized bath...
no bath tub which doesn't bother me at all as
Mr Sweet and I always took showers.
There was a tiny tiny shower here when we first moved in.
I don't have a photo of the small prefab shower so I borrowed this one from the internet....
this one is almost just like the one we had...
When Mr. Sweet got so sick that he couldn't stand in the shower,
our sweet and generous son and his wife had a big new shower built that was wheel chair accessible.
SOOOO nice.
All tile.....the same pattern that's on the floor.
and plenty of room for a spa stool...
No glass door nor the track it would need so that a wheelchair could go in and out easily.
I've never had a shower curtain before but I really like this one from Target.
Mr. Sweet and I bought this antique wash stand in 1961, the 2nd yr we married.
Since this bath had a sink with no cabinets,
Don't worry that without cabinets around this sink that I have no place for towels and etc...
This is a whole room full of closets on both sides...
it's between the bath and the entry to the living room...
More cabinets than I know what to do with...and I love 'em.
It's such a great bath....

so easy to clean....
I'm really proud of it.
I have a piece similar to your wash stand, made of pine though, yours looks like oak. Your bathroom is lovely and makes me want to 'finish' working on mine.
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring dear BJ ~ FlowerLady
Shower area is perfect for you and was also for Mister Sweet, I am sure, as well . . .
ReplyDeleteI too have a piece of oak furniture like what you have used for your bathroom sink.
You create charming settings bj . . . even in the bath area!
Oh, it's so pretty! I rescued a wash stand from my grandparents' old cottage and it now its in my kitchen where it holds a variety of things that don't fit any place else. I love having it for so many reasons.
ReplyDeleteLovely! what a wonderful shower. The whole room is great.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I wish we had a walk in shower for my Mom. I love the vanity!
ReplyDeleteLove your bath area. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteOh I can see why you love it! That shower that is wheelchair accessible...so helpful and handy. And I love the repurposed washstand!
ReplyDeleteThat is one big beautiful bathroom!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! And accessibility is so important as we age.
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty. But don't the towels go moist and mildeweeeee smell?
ReplyDeleteOnce I removed all the bath towels from the bathroom, they never
had that mildewwwweeeiiiieness. Blecch.
That's a pretty sweet shower
ReplyDeleteLove the shower bj and love the wash sink that Mr. Sweet found years ago. It is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteHave a great new week.
xoxo

What a beautiful bath. I love the shower! It's funny, more and more people I know are opting for larger walk in showers rather than tubs they don't use.
ReplyDeleteThat is one beautiful shower!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning bath!! Thanks so much for stopping by!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Debbie

Wow, what a great room. I love it.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I would love to have a large walkin shower like that. We still have a tub with a shower in it. My next home only have a shower....however, I would love a big claw foot tub on the side.

ReplyDeleteBJ, When I come visit your blog, I smile when I see the picture of Mr. Sweet. He looks like he was a true gentle soul. I love seeing your beautiful house. That shower is the best. I love it. I'd like something like that myself. It just seems so much safer as we age. Blessings to you, love, xoxo, Susie

Aren’t Summer Houses the best?
ReplyDeleteWe also have one....but, not nearly as fancy as yours! That bathroom is gorgeous!
Looking forward to seeing more pics this Summer!
Cheers!

What a beautiful bath! I have a stand that's similar to yours. It belonged to my mother and was something I chose to keep. Do you know what these stands were originally built for? They were 'commodes' - they held the bowl and pitcher on top for washing up and the little door hid the chamber pot they used at night so they didn't have to go outside to the privy!
