I love thrift shops more than just about ANYthing.
♥
I especially love finding cute wooden pieces and using paint
to bring our their true personality.
Some of my friends will remember that I bought this little magazine rack that was most likely from the 70's.....maybe even early 80's .
I couldn't wait to give it the personality that natural wood finish was hiding.....

"Annie Sloan......oh....Annieeeee....I need your help here...!!"
yes...
this is the
PERFECT color.
ahhhhh....
that's more like it ♥ ♥ ♥
So much fun to work on pieces that end up being much
cuter than you had imagined....
I really fell in total love with the finished product here...
I couldn't think of another single solitary thing I could do to make it one bit cuter.....
AND.....
THEN...
out of the clear blue sky,
a blogger friend
showed me
THERE WAS ONE MORE THING I COULD HAVE DONE
FOR ADDED CUTENESS....
My adorable friend, LAUREN, bought an even cuter vintage magazine rack....
and just take a look at what SHE did with hers that made it
take FIRST PLACE in the
MISS AMERICA CUTEST RACK BEAUTY PAGEANT
************************************
OOO, yes...
she put WORDS on hers......
and not just any ole words, either...
what better words going on a magazine rack could you have than
READING IS DREAMING WITH OPEN EYES.....
Well, I tell you folks, I nearly got whip-lash running to MY
magazine rack and thinking
"OH, BOY....I am sooo gonna steal her idea."
WELL...
as you can see,
I don't have much room for words on mine...
WOE IS ME...
now every time I look at this, I am going to think SOMETHING is missing.
Of course, I can always hang a sign on it....
but, no matter what I do...
it's not going to be the same until I can come up
with a fantastic phrase that will fit on my narrow spaces...
I will search every where to find just the right words that might bring me
2nd Place in the pageant...
Any of the above might work...
and the great thing is that LAUREN tells us just how to
add things to your project piece...
Be sure to go over and visit ...
and please tell her bj is too busy to come because she is
searching right and left for SECOND PLACE WORDS.....
and "thanks, Lauren, for letting me use your awesome photos."
I love Kopy Kats! READ would fit, but I really like your sign idea. ☺️
ReplyDeleteThe perfect color!!
ReplyDeleteIt is so pretty with paint!! I love the idea of words about reading on it but truly it's in the top 2 without it!
ReplyDeleteI love the colour you chose - everything is better in robin's egg blue!
ReplyDeleteYou could be super-contemporary and put an emoji on it, lol!
ReplyDeleteBJ, You made that magazine rack, which seemed out dated look like a brand new design. I absolutely love it I love it with the signs too. So clever girl. Blessings, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I love both of them! And I love the thrill of doing a Copy Cat!
ReplyDeleteI just love that color! It's just beautiful! Nice work.
ReplyDeleteOh that paint color!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt looks amazing.
Just the way it is!
You are so talented!
Very nice make over BJ. I am sure you will find the perfect words for your magazine rack.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Ohhhh, it's just so nice just the way you painted it.
ReplyDeleteI am throwing in the wrench . . .
ReplyDeleteLiking it left alone . . . in just that gorgeous color . . .
Please, no words or signs . . .
The magazine stand in beautiful Annie Sloan blue,
speaks for itself . . .
Now here I am trapped at work behind a desk just itching to go thrifting for a magazine rack. Have you considered painting/stenciling a vine, flowers or something else instead of words? At any rate, it is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI like it just blue, too...maybe find a cute chalkboard tag to hang on it. Then you could change up the phrase as you like!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I love finding inspiration from my blog friends!
ReplyDeleteSuch a dreamy color you chose! Love your finished work!
ReplyDeleteYours would win my vote. You definitely took the evening gown competition with that color!
ReplyDeleteVery cute! Nicely done! And, you are so funny (that whiplash comment).
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you!
Love the color. I like either of your signs. Blessed is good for so many reasons. It could mean to be able to read, you found this darling or for family. I say it stands for all.😍
ReplyDeleteCindy
I love what you did to the magazine stand. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteBJ I totally love what you done with your magazine stand. How darling. The color pops and says BEACH to me! LOL! I love to read when at the beach I guess Is is why this came to mind. Yes, that is a cute stand with the words. Oh paint gives things a fresh brand new look. I've been doing lots of little painting projects lately in my kitchen. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
ReplyDeleteWhat a great color. So pretty bj. I think the idea of a sign would be great on this cutie. Happy Wednesday. Have a great rest of the week.

I think yours is JUST perfect! I love the color. I just painted a little table last night myself. I only did white, but I made my own chalk paint; super easy and super cheap. :) Enjoy your magazine rack.
ReplyDeleteBJ you crack me up!! I LOVE that rack you found - I've never seen one like that ever! What a great find and I definitely love the color you chose - it really brings out the personality and details of the piece. It definitely is beautiful as is but you could easily add a quote on the ends as well. Adjusting the font and size, you could still add a quote to the side. I like your idea of hanging signs on there too -- or what about a chalkboard sign where you could change what it says whenever you want? Thanks for your "SWEET" comments and share of my project - you are a crafty lady AND a gifted writer haha!
