Most every one that knows me knows I love
Biscuits...
Waffles...
There's so many recipes for PANCAKES...
buttermilk makes them thicker and fluffy...
if I have no buttermilk,
I nearly always use SOUR CREAM...or unflavored Greek Yogurt...
and I sure love fruit of any kind with my breakfast.
I keep canned fruit in the pantry because when I don't have fresh fruit,
I can mix pineapple tidbits with Mandarin oranges...
add a bit of sour cream, coconut and mini marshmallows
for the BEST Ambrosia.
Pouring the juice off the cans of fruit makes the BEST juice for your breakfast...
I just add a bit of ice and it tastes sooo good.
These were the little DOLLAR PANCAKES...
a little bigger but not much.
My dad was a cook and owned several cafes thru my young years..
he made the BEST little Silver Dollar Pancakes, EVER..
It never dawned on me to get his recipe...
wonder why we don't think of those things until after they are gone..??
and, for those times of NO FRESH FLOWERS for your table,
pretty fauxs are SUPER...!!
2 grandgirls are still asleep on this cloudy, rainy morning... (it's now 9:30)
and guess what they requested for breakfast...
YEP...
PANCAKES....
I had pancakes two mornings in a row while I was at Anna's pageant. They were SOOO good. It seems restaurants make really GOOD pancakes or ones that are AWFUL---rubbery and/or tasteless. I always throw a little vanilla into my batter----xo Diana

BJ, You just make me smile. I love seeing all the good food you come up with. You are so right honey, We should have always asked our folks about many things. Hugs, blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteWe always serve sour cream with our pancakes and use the sour cream instead of butter on top of the pancakes and then pour the syrup on. It always freaked out my friends growing up until they were brave enough to try it. Delicious.
ReplyDeletewell.. now Im thinking about pancakes! mine wont look anything like yours. but maybe this weekend I shall make some. and maybe some pineapple and mandarin oranges. I have this problem.. I always want to eat what someone else is eating.. that is why I am always the last to order when we go out to dinner! lol!

Recipe please?? You need to include the recipes to all the delicious looking food you post. I love reading your blog BJ. I live in north central Texas and we are having cooler weather too the past two days. Texas weather is crazy but it has been getting ridiculous!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever tried PW's pancakes...the ones that her husband's grandmother made? Oh my...they are my favorites, I think. Yours look delicious! I know those granddaughters had a wonderful breakfast.

ReplyDeletePancakes and waffles are among my favorite things for breakfast. Cover them in butter and smother them with syrup...pure perfection. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed day.
ReplyDeleteI want to come to your house....lol My mother made the best pancakes too! Bless your day!
ReplyDeleteGert
Pancakes with maple syrup are a favourite here. The buttermilk is a great addition. We usually just sour regular milk.
ReplyDeleteThis is looking mighty yum! Bet the grand girls will adore it! And pretty flowers, too!
ReplyDeletebj - if you don't have buttermilk on hand - just make it - all you need to do is use milk and add a little bit of vinegar and leave it for a minute. turns into buttermilk. that's what i do when i am making cakes.
ReplyDeletenever stop your pancake posts, they're so sincere and so YOU.
hugs. ♥
The only person I ever knew who DIDN'T like pancakes was my father. He'd grown up in the Great Depression and often the only thing to eat was pancakes. I guess he'd eaten a river of them, enough to last a lifetime. He said he just couldn't physically eat them any more.
ReplyDeleteLooks so good bj ... Mr. Z. would love for me to make him pancakes, but I don't eat them so it is hard to make pancakes for one. I could try though !!! Or he may just have to keep enjoying his frozen waffles. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Audrey Z.

Your pancakes look wonderfully delicious! I'm ready to head your way and request some for breakfast! My dad's all time favorite breakfast was pancakes. My dear mother had a knack for getting them just right. I had to learn a few lessons before my sweetheart got consistently shaped pancakes but he never complained!

Never heard of adding sour cream but it's worth a try! I thought your flowers were REAL! They are very nice!!
