Hello to everyone..
Boy...it is HOT here in West Texas.
Temps running around 98 degrees.
Drains the life right out of ya when you go outside.
*
*
If I'm outside for long, I head to the bright red umbrella.

*
The mama and daddy have a hissy fit all the time I rest under the umbrella.
I could see the mama on the nest for a couple of days and
I could see the mama on the nest for a couple of days and
then, all at once, the tiny nest was FULL of baby birds..
and how fast they grow...before I knew it they were almost as large as their mama.
The daddy perches on a branch of the tree most of the time.
He never gets very far away... and of all the
chattering and chirping and fussing when I try to get too close....
Every now and then,
he will fly off for a bit and come back with a worm.
I wish I had a really good camera for shots such as this.
The little point and shoot just can't do these beautiful birds justice...
but you can see that the babies are almost as large as their mama and daddy.
I never could tell for sure just how many babies ....I know there's 3..maybe 4.
P.S. They flew away the very next day....
'twas fun watching this little family with yellow bellies..:)

Oh how fun to watch them. I've never seen that kind of bird. So fun you got the pics. Almost like they were waiting for their portraits so they could fly away. Thanks for sharing them. Stay cool. XXOO
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how fast they do grow. Don't know what kind they are - sorry. Thanks for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeleteStay cool. It is hot and humid here also.
Had one (a wren, I think)... nest on my back-porch last month....
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures , dear Lady... Hope that you and yours are well... was in upper 90's here today as we.. uptown said 97....
Now that it has gotten dark it has finally cooled off a bit ...
love that last photo, as they look and maybe wonder what they will see as they leave home? a bit like our teenagers as they head off to University or their first OE trip.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures BJ. It's been really hot here in Florida, but the rains have helped cool things down. Have a great week!

How sweet, I love nature. Glad you enjoyed
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to see the life cycle of the bird. Near by our house also there is a nest. The bird in it never allow any body to cross the way. It is very nice to see the care and affection of the birds to their young ones...
ReplyDeleteAlways lovely to be able to see a bird'sdaily activity close by.
ReplyDeleteHello BJ, it is neat seeing the birds in the nest. Momma can be very protective of her babies. Great captures. Enjoy your day!

ReplyDeleteGreat pictures, bj. Just popping in to say Hi and I put up a little post today to let people know I am still kicking. lol It has been a super hot summer here for us, too. Much hotter than normal. Love those sweet birds but don't know what they are. Glad they visited you for a while. xo Diana
ReplyDeleteLove the photos of the birds. I'm always amazed at how fast the babies grow up and leave the nest. But, before they do, those Mom and Dads are really protective. Stay cool.
ReplyDeleteJudy
How fun is this and beat colors. The babies are big. It's so a very humid summer in NJ
ReplyDeleteCindy
Your photos are great. When the birds build their nest in my garden, I get very excited and would watch them daily. Like you said, the chicks grow very fast. Over here we are starting to have some rain.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, BJ! I love birdwatching :)
ReplyDeleteWe don't have that birdie here - not sure what it is but it's very pretty.
ReplyDeleteGlad the babies lasted long enough to fledge - seems you don't have predators around that inviting pool, WHICH BTW I could dive into right now as it's SO hot here too!
Happy day dear - Mary
Watching animals is always fascinating to me. I wonder what they think of us and wonder if they watch us as much as we watch them! Try to stay cool! We will be back in Texas in September sharing your misery! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat is such a pretty ird but I don't know what it is. We have a similiar bird here, the gold finch, it is gorgeous! We also have baby birds in a hanging plant on the front porch! I took it down to water the other night and OMG, saw 3 little babies in it! Needless to say, I didn't water it and we can watch Mama feed them from inside!
ReplyDeletebirds never stay long in my backyard.
ReplyDeleteBJ, your photos are beautiful! I enjoy watching birds that build nests around our home! It is also stifling hot here!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Pam

BJ,
ReplyDeleteM a n y years ago, when my MoMa watched the birds in the tree outside our kitchen window. . .
I used to think, "I hope I never do that"!!! But MoMa was right, watching birds is so~o~o relaxing!!!
Here on the Prairie, we have several bird feeders and "Mr. Ed" and I l o v e checking on the birds
several times throughout the day!!! This Summer we've had two Cardinals nest in different areas of the Gardens!!!
Thanks for sharing your lovely birds with us!!!
Hang in there, dear one. . .Autumn's on its way!!!
fondly,
Pat
Your birds shots are really nice, different birds to what we get here.
ReplyDeleteI wish I could send you some of our cold weather, the consolation is that we are near the end of the season and the temps will get easier to put up with.
Diana
You got beautiful shots with your point and shoot! Love to see birds with yellow on them, or any color other than brown!
