Cheep Cheep, Little Birds

Hello to everyone..
Boy...it is HOT here in West Texas.
Temps running around 98 degrees.
Drains the life right out of ya when you go outside.
*

If I'm outside for long, I head to the bright red umbrella.
*
I've been watching a small bird nest in this tree for awhile.

The mama and daddy  have a hissy fit all the time I rest under the umbrella.
I could see the mama on the nest for a couple of days and
then, all at once, the tiny nest was FULL of baby birds..
and how fast they grow...before I knew it they were almost as large as their mama.

The daddy perches on a branch of the tree most of the time.

He never gets very far away... and of all the
chattering and chirping and fussing when I try to get too close....
 Every now and then,
he will fly off for a bit and come back with a worm.

I wish I had a really good camera for shots such as this.
The little point and shoot just can't do these beautiful birds justice...
but you can see that the babies are almost as large as their mama and daddy.
I never could tell for sure just how many babies ....I know there's 3..maybe 4.

They will fly away soon.....

Are they yellow breasted CHATS ?

P.S. They flew away the very next day....
'twas fun watching this little family with yellow bellies..:)

  7. It is nice to see the life cycle of the bird. Near by our house also there is a nest. The bird in it never allow any body to cross the way. It is very nice to see the care and affection of the birds to their young ones...

  25. We don't have that birdie here - not sure what it is but it's very pretty.
Glad the babies lasted long enough to fledge - seems you don't have predators around that inviting pool, WHICH BTW I could dive into right now as it's SO hot here too!

    Happy day dear - Mary

  26. Watching animals is always fascinating to me. I wonder what they think of us and wonder if they watch us as much as we watch them! Try to stay cool! We will be back in Texas in September sharing your misery! :-)

  27. That is such a pretty ird but I don't know what it is. We have a similiar bird here, the gold finch, it is gorgeous! We also have baby birds in a hanging plant on the front porch! I took it down to water the other night and OMG, saw 3 little babies in it! Needless to say, I didn't water it and we can watch Mama feed them from inside!

  32. Your birds shots are really nice, different birds to what we get here.
I wish I could send you some of our cold weather, the consolation is that we are near the end of the season and the temps will get easier to put up with.
