We all scream for ......ICE CREAM
I went thrifting the other day...by myself...
so I had NO one to tell me..."Whaaat ?? Why would you want THAT".
Yep....I was ON MY OWN.
I KNOW you are thinking why would an olden woman buy a painting (print on canvas)
of
ICE CREAM.....and ICE CREAM CONE, at that...???
For some reason, I couldn't leave it at the thrift store.
After all...those luscious colors...
the coolness you feel when you gaze upon it...
the sweetness of it all...
and for only $1.29, I snapped it up.
I think this wall hanging appealed to the little girl inside...
we all have her, you know.
(well, and there's little boys, hiding inside all men, too)
OR...
maybe it reminded me of the time I made a big HUGE
Banana Split
for my little DEEDS.
She was about 9..
.(she looks so much like her mama at this age, it makes me cry)
had spent the weekend with me...
She was hungry for
A BANANA SPLIT...
and I said...
"Well....let's get it on, girl..."
Pink Sugar Cookies
Pink Flowers
Banana Split
and the sweetest little Deeds in the whole world, loving every bite of that
delicious ice cream.
(Oh, my...she is 13 now..and growing up so fast)
Yes...
I am thinking that every time I look at this deliciously colored ice cream cone,
my little DEEDS is going to pop right up in my mind.
"I love you, Deeds."
I know you know that.!!
but...
I just love saying,
"I love you, Deeds."
and, if by chance, she might want to hang it in HER room...what could be more perfect for a pretty 13 year old than a
luscious, multi-flavored
ICE CREAM CONE.

Don't you hate that little voice in your head that reminds you of your age. I love the canvas. Who cares, right. That bana split looks delicious. .hugs
ReplyDelete=D
ReplyDeleteIt is kinda purty...are you hoping that Deeds want it or that she won't?
Hope that you have a banana split party together soon!
Lovely on the wall, everyone should enjoy ice cream!!!
ReplyDeleteWe got some A & W to make some rootbeer floats this weekend. Want one of those too? Sweet hugs, Diane
ReplyDeleteBJ, I really like this post. We love our g.daughters. They grow up way too fast. I love the big ice cream you made for Deeds. I think when you see the poster you will think of her. Bless your heart, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteAwwwwww, I remember Deeds and her banana split. :-) 13 now! How time flies. :-) Bet she is just as sweet, as she was, when "little-er". <---Just made up a word there!!! ,-)
ReplyDeleteBut booo-hoooo, I can't be screamin' for any ice cream treats this weekend. Have to have a teeny-tiny-slice-n-sew done, next week. So meantime, I have to be off my aspirin and Plavix. I figure "the better part of valor" is to forgo stuff like ice cream, while I'm off those keep-the-blood-flowing-goodies. :-)
Maybe I could get a poster, and lick it, when I really, really want my weekend treat!!!!! -grin-
Gentle hugs,
Tessa
The colors in the painting of the ice cream cone are fantastic looks good enough to eat. The banana split you made your little Deeds looks so good. Have a blessed day. Madeline

ReplyDeleteBJ, just lost my comment! GRRRRR
ReplyDeleteWhat I said was, when I first saw the piece, I thought you bought it because Sunday, July 19th, is National Ice Cream Day.
Love the feel and colors of your new piece, and you have me craving an ice cream sundae. Yum!
There was a new coffee shop at the mall and I saw they had ice cream cooler. We walked up and NO ICE CREAM! They didn't get their ice cream yet Bummer...
ReplyDeleteWow, I just bought the makings for homemade ice cream. Harvey's birthday is next week and I am planning cake and ice cream for dessert. Making just plain vanilla, but that is what he loves.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Lovely colors and lovely Miss Deeds.
ReplyDeleteBJ, you did a super job on your cool, pink showing today.
ReplyDeleteOf course you wanted it!! It's luscious! Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteBj, The first thing I thought when I saw your title was I scream, I scream we all scream for ice cream. It funny what we remember from our childhood. It makes me want to go to Baskin Robbins or Cold Cream Store for ice cream. I like the painting. I remember seeing a post on face book where it listed the favorite ice creams store and it made me think of that too. Hope you are staying cool. Take care Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend Shirley
ReplyDeleteI betcha Deeds would love to have that poster! Such pretty colors. Have a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteNext time go all the way and order a cone that looks just like this - and then eat it all! ;-)
ReplyDeleteHi BJ, that is a good idea - to buy a 5 scoops ice-cream on a cone! I haven't done that for a long, long time. And I love the banana split, thinking of getting one now!

You are so fun! Have a great day!
ReplyDeletethe banana split looked Great... (sadly no place around here sells them... and the things needed to make one would take a huge chunk on my limited "food budget")...
ReplyDeletethanks for the morning "smile"... and we hope that you and yours are having a pleasant day...
Thank you dear Lady for your kind words... and you seem to be a Wonderful person...
Delete... during the "Mad Tea Party",... you had left a comment at another blog... your words there helped to lift my spirits... So we went to check your Blog...
So many "uplifting" things... ( and Many popular blogs spend entire posts on the "beauty" of a Cake... Nothing wrong with that) ... just post the things that you enjoy... "Have Fun"...
and all the great (and often "insightful" comments from such nice folks...)
Really glad to be getting to know you and you often give us a much needed "Smile"... a great weekend to you and yours...
Hi BJness! I just love it and it looks wonderful and so summertime. That banana split for little Miss Deeds looks mighty good too! I know what you mean about the little girl in us. She's in me too and she comes out a lot! :) Hope you're doing well.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Now this is just HAPPY! Nothing says Summer more than ice cream and what a delightful post.....oh man....your banana split looks amazing!!! Beautiful creation of yumminess!
ReplyDeleteI think it's a great pic and all the more special for bringing back such a happy memory.
ReplyDeleteYou had to buy it. It had to come home with you. And, I love, love, love it - and your post. Thanks for sharing your new treasure and your special sweetheart and memories with us for Pink Saturday.♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteThat is a very cool poster. And what a deal on the price.
ReplyDeleteThe real beauty of thrift stores is the ability to indulge in that picture for only $1.29! I think it's fun and pretty, and when you are tired of it, or want something a little more "autumn" you needn't feel bad about retiring it. You must be the best grandmother in the world, I hope I can spoil a sweet grandchild with a big banana split some day ;)
