HELLO, ALL...
One of the things I just love about blogging is that a lot of us
it might be playing-like we are having a dinner party and we set beautiful tables....
it might be playing-like we are having a fine, HIGH TEA and we bring out our
beautiful tea pots, dainty cups and make a lovely treat to "serve our guests"....
I do indeed LOVE TO PLAY....
always have....
and I refuse to grow up to the point that I don't want to PLAY anymore.
"We don't quit playing because we grow old...
SOOOO.....
I had an inside
" PLAY-LIKE"
TAILGATING PARTY.....
a few yrs back for our HOME FELLOWSHIP GROUP...
Barbecue BAKED BEANS...
I like a sweet barbecue sauce
and could actually DRINK this whole bottle of
SWEET BABY RAY...
"The Sauce is the
Boss"
Now, I've heard it said and I believe it's true...
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN is the REAL "BOSS"....ya'll....
This particular recipe called for
PORK AND BEANS
BACON
CANNED FRIED ONION RINGS
This recipe for CLUB SANDWICH PUFFS
also came from PLAIN CHICKEN.
I used PEPPERED SMOKED TURKEY
and you can go to her site, search these recipes and find them in a flash.
We dipped these in
Honey Mustard......
and they are sooo tasty.
All tailgating parties have
SLIDERS....
and so do we....
These are whole wheat slider buns...
Honey Ham slices...
3 different kinds of cheese...
Drizzle POPPY SEED DRESSING on the inside, over the ham and cheese.
Just before sliding the SLIDERS into the oven a few minutes before serving,
melt a small amount of butter and mix with a nice amount of POPPY SEED DRESSING
and brush on tops of buns.
...just get them warm enuf to melt the cheese and
YOU'RE GOOD TO GO.....
If you've not tried THESE chips, you are in for a treat...
so flavorful....and 40% less fat !!
...gotta love that..:)
We had chips of all kinds...
the BEST CHEESE QUESO brought by a sister friend,
of which I didn't get a photo.....
but, even worse....
I didn't get the recipe....BUMMER

Dessert...always desserts...
I have to tell you, I am sooo glad there's
BLACK JACK CHERRY
SMOOTH & CREAMY
FROZEN YOGURT...
Oh Honey
Huge BLACK CHERRIES...along with those delish SWIG SUGAR COOKIES...
(cookies in the photo have a green cast that I have no idea why...)
(cookies in the photo have a green cast that I have no idea why...)
BEST LEMON BARS....
again...I didn't get the recipe...
SORRY ! ...
seems all I did was....
EAT..!!
SO... get your play clothes on and
COME OUTSIDE AND....PLAY
OH my Goodness I would have loved to be at your party. I would never have thought of the onion rings on the beans but yum. It all looks so good now I'm going to have to go and plan a party. Praying you and the hubby are feeling better.

"We don't quit playing because we grow old...
We grow old because we quit playing."

ReplyDeleteDearest BJ; I would LOVE to try these delectable, yummy looking dishes(*^_^*) All look different from my soy source based Japanese type cooking; cannot say which one is my favorite p:-) Hope you are doing well, I really appreciate your sweet visit, Dear friend.
ReplyDeleteSending Lots of Love and Hugs from Japan to my Dear friend, xoxo Miyako*
You know the saying: 'all work and no play . . .'
ReplyDeleteAnd I think I gained weight just from your pictures but boy were they good, hmm, hmm.
YUM! I have been looking for some new ideas for the shower I am hosting next week, thanks! Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!

ReplyDeleteOh my, everything looks so tasty! I'll have to look up the baked bean recipe, the addition of french fried onions sounds good. Okay, I'm off to go play...at the flea markets! Have a good one.
ReplyDeleteI couldn’t agree more bj, I love playtime and I just haven’t had much time for it lately. I need to do something about that! I love your menu and all the food looks delish! Great photos.......
ReplyDeleteFantastic preparations for the party.
ReplyDeleteNever too old to play house. We all do it ... some better than others. The club sandwich puffs look so good. Would love to try those.
ReplyDeleteIn fact, everything looks good.
I agree re: playing....and laughing! I think it's imperative to do both OR as Jimmy Buffett says, "We'll all go insane!" :) Your table and the food looks delish, as usual.
ReplyDeleteYour assignment, should you decide to accept, is to find the recipe for Queso and share! Always enjoy trying a new one.
xo
Pat
sliders remind me of White Castle, which I had never heard of until that Harold and Kumar movie came out
ReplyDeleteWow! I want to come and eat at an indoor tailgate party at your house!
ReplyDeleteI tend to drool when I see posts like this. So yummy looking.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, playing keeps you youthful! Your food is always so different. I've lived most of my life between coastal California and the Arizona desert, and my parents were from New England, so your dishes seem very unusual.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful table, my friend. I always wish I could just drop by and taste your wonderful foods!
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
