she planted several Rose of Sharon plants this year
and they are so pretty.

a favorite aunt's name was Myrtle...
my Aunt Myrt...
she was so cute and so much fun and i loved her so so much...
and i still cry for her.
i'd much more like to have my Aunt Myrt than any ole plant !!!
her grands LOVE dinosaurs
so when she found these metal ones,
she added them to her garden...
huge back yard.....

ReplyDeleteKathy's garden with her Roses of Sharon, crepe Myrtles, and Texas White Hibiscus is very pretty, and her "pet" dinosaurs are cute, too.
ReplyDeleteI like Rose of Sharon bushes as much for their name as their pretty, reliable flowers. They do grow a long time, too. I love crepe myrtles. I have two hot pink crepe myrtle plants in the front yard. I love how they have the tenacity to survive Japanese beetles and keep on blooming through our horrible hot summers here. My bigger one mostly froze back to the ground a couple of years ago, but had some branches in the middle survive and then sprouted a bunch of little ones from the ground, it is oddly shaped now, but all of the branches are blooming their heads off right now and look so pretty.
My favorite flower in the yard right now is my hibiscus plant. It has grown to be about 4 foot around and has huge white blooms with dark pink centers and a few dark pink stripes radiating outward from the dark pink center. The blooms are as big as a desert plate, and it is just covered with them. By the time the afternoon is at its hottest, they shrivel and close up. Kind of like I do. They will bloom all of the way until we get near to frost time. I would like to have a whole lot more crepe myrtles, and several more colors of those giant hibiscus blooming in my front yard. I'm recovering from total knee replacement surgery, so I don't even go outside to water or visit the plants I have right now. It's too buggy and sweaty out there. I admire them from the window and my husband waters them.
