I have been consumed with PUMPKIN FEVER
When you have blogged, taken photos, worked your hinny off...
for as long as I have, going on 12 years now,
there's always older posts that you want to run again.
♥
Besides, I have a lot of new blogging friends that probably
haven't seen a lot of my posts.

Besides, I have a lot of new blogging friends that probably
haven't seen a lot of my posts.
Doing copy cats of other bloggers, out of magazines,
even friends, is so much fun.....and has always been a favorite of mine.
PAT of ON CROOKED CREEK fame did that cute basket on the left
and I just HAD to do one like it...I already had the basket...the labels AND the flowers..
just didn't have enuf STYLE about my silly self to put them all together and hang them
and I just HAD to do one like it...I already had the basket...the labels AND the flowers..
just didn't have enuf STYLE about my silly self to put them all together and hang them
ON THE FRONT PORCH.
Thanks for the inspiration, PAT. :)
Pat....I am still using this basket and it reminds me of you
and your sweetness all the time...
One of my most fun copy cats, I think....
HOBBY LOBBY
on this one...
such a simple copycat but so fun..and I really enjoyed it on my dining table all thru fall.
We both had a blast working on this
COPY CAT
STORY TABLE....
my inspiration coming from
DONNA at
FUNKY JUNK INTERIORS..
I bought
a tiny, beat up thrifted little $5.00 table and it became one of my favorite furniture pieces...
mainly because
IT'S GOT SOUL.....
You can read more of MY STORY here...
I hope so, anyway...
it has reference to my Grandpa Jackson,
his saloon in East Texas,
one star for our LONE STAR STATE of Texas,
and Mr. Sweet's mother's birth year.
I really love my STORY TABLE ....and so did Mr. Sweet.
and then came THE SHELF....
OOO MY....I was and still am soooo proud of this
MACKENZIE*CHILDS $1,000.00 WALL SHELF KNOCK-OFF.
I helped making it....and painting it...a little........I really did...
but MR. SWEET gets all the credit....and he absolutely OUT-DID
This is the only DebbieDoo CopyCat that
I DID FIRST ...hahhaa
She didn't see mine and copy it, tho...
no siree....
I actually did this one years and years ago.
I've used several of these wooden appliques on different pieces of furniture...
and even on a dining room door.
They are fun and just give a little pizzazzzz
to your room.
SOME of my copy cats were TOO SILLY TO EVEN POST....
...for instance, THIS pretty lady was in COUNTRY LIVING
and I just wanted to copy her so baaaad.
I didn't have a hat any where NEAR the quality and cuteness of THIS one...
nor did I have an awesome necklace made from GOLF TEES....
so whimsical and cute.....
BUT....
I did have a big, ole TEXAS
BLACK COWBOY HAT....
that was a TAD TOO LARGE
for my bronzy bust...
and I had a MAGNIFICENT, silver and turquoise necklace...
sooo....
LET THE COPY CATTING BEGIN....
hahhhaaaa......what a hoot.
Too silly to post to the world but I see I kept it all,
so,
here 'tis....silly or not....
Tooo fun....
Can't remember for sure which magazine this was in but I loved it...
I REALLY had fun doing the
FRENCH TABLE...
I think I did this copy cat in 2010 but liked it enuf to add it to this post.
I had a blast gathering everything up to try to come up with a photo
that was close to the inspiration photo.
When I bought these two TALL brass
candlesticks, I had no idea what I wanted to do with them....
but then, POTTERY BARN
came along and "showed me the way"....
when I saw the WELSH HUTCH, on the left, in a decorating magazine, I sweetly asked Mr. Sweet to build a hutch to go over a vintage HARVEST table...
thus making the perfect
WELSH HUTCH
for our dining room.
She tells me this is called
SALTINE TOFFEE
aka
CHRISTMAS CRACK.
O MY GOSH
it is so delicious, I can't find words.
I didn't get her recipe...all she said was "PINTEREST"
so I intend to do a SEARCH on Pinterest
and, THEN, BABY...
I am going to do an awesome
COPY CAT. !!
♥
This is such a simple
copy cat...
but I loved the idea of using a little bit of Fern in
just plain FUN...:)
♥ ♥ ♥
I used this idea just this year, 2018
One of the fun parts of doing knockoffs or copy cats....
you come up with ideas that you might never have thought of on your own....
I think this tabletop arrangement looks better with the fern.
> I remember, when I did this table, that Mr. Sweet made the remark,
" Of all the things you are having a hissy fit over on this table,
the BISCUITS and GRAVY
look
BEST OF ALL !!
hahaaha...you silly silly man...:)
How I wish he was here right now...
I would make him biscuits and gravy so fast, it would make his head spin...😭
NEXT....
LAST BUT SURELY NOT LEAST....
MY FAVORITE COPY CAT OF ALL TIMES....
I have to say....THIS COPY CAT picture was the MAGNIFICENT work of my daughter, STACY LEIGH....
Isn't it so funny !!!
I laugh sooo hard every single time I look at it...
I think it's the most ADORABLE thing I've ever seen.
♥ ♥ ♥
♥ ♥ ♥
One of the cute things about it...
that's 10 year old DEEDS, holding her 15 year old sis, BRYNNA.
Waaaay too cute, girls.
WHAT A HOOT.......
WHAT A HOOT.......
♥ ♥ ♥
If you see something that you would like to do a copy cat of,
do it...
so much fun
and I take all the fun I can get these days.
Love to all,
bj
That was a lot of copycat fun, bj! Enjoyed my scroll through them all.

ReplyDeleteI remember each and every one of these - I guess I have been around for quite a while. And of course my Fav is the black and white M-C knock off mirrored shelf. Mr Sweet sure was one talented guy!! And you are just as talented creating your versions of all of these delightful vignettes!!
ReplyDeleteBJ,
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness!
What a pleasant surprise!
I am finally able to access my blog after nearly two years.
This evening, I'm re~connecting to the former blogs I've followed through the years.
Imagine the pure joy to open your, dear one, and see our front door "copy cat" baskets!
All of your "copy cat" posts are amazing!
Thank you for re~posting!
Pat
Oh my, I remember all those copy cat posts! So much fun to revisit them.

Really! Seems to me most of your copy cats are better than the originals.
ReplyDeleteAnd that last one with the giraffes and the girls --tooooo funny. :-)
This was a fun break.
You have the good taste to copy only from the BEST!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post! I learn so much from the talented bloggers out there. You’ve done them all proud by emulating what they do. I’m sure there are those who learn from you as well.
ReplyDeleteI love all your Copy Cat projects! It's fun to get inspiration from others.
ReplyDeleteI always like re-doing a furniture piece, way cheaper than getting a new one.
ReplyDeleteYour copy-cat posts have been some of my favorites of all time. I really enjoyed taking another look. Oh my! Mr. Sweet was a creative genius! No wonder you two came up with so many beautiful projects and inspired so many of us to go and do likewise. Sometimes, life is a big old pain. It must be balanced with fun! Love you to the moon and back, BJ. 🧡
ReplyDeleteBJ, I remember the shelf and thinking how pretty it was and how I would like one myself. I love the copying of others' great ideas. I call it being inspired. I still love the ferns in plain bottles. Love the painted candlesticks. Long legged Deeds..what a sweet girl. That is funny and cute her holding her big sister. Really enjoyed this post BJ! I've done the same thing before, but never thought to document it! What a great way to have some fun decorating in your home :) I know you must miss Mr. Sweet terribly, funny thoughts that you shared about him though. Who would think to have such a pretty glass container of tea lights!
