"That was the summer of 1963, when everybody called me Baby, and it didn't occur to me to mind. That was before President Kennedy was shot, before the Beatles, when I couldn't wait to join the Peace Corps, and I thought I'd never find a guy as great as my dad. That was the summer we went to Kellerman's."Is it THE MAN himself .....?
Baby Houseman
He was such a great actor......and talented at dancing.
Now, for some, he was very handsome....

Johnny: "
Look, spaghetti arms. This is my dance space.
This is your dance space.
I

You gotta hold the frame. "

Baby: "Oh, yes, as a matter of fact it is. We're supposed to do the show in two days, you won't show me the lifts, I'm not sure of the turns, I'm doing all this to save your ass, what I really want to do is drop you on it! "

"Me? I'm scared of everything. I'm scared of what I saw, I'm scared of what I did, of who I am, and most of all I'm scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I'm with you."

Is it that just about every woman that loves the movie

2/16/15:
The 1987 classic Dirty Dancing
is coming to TV for a new reboot of the franchise, but the good news is
that production is expected to return to the Lake Lure area of North
Carolina, where the original movie was also filmed.
The Wilmywood Daily
reports that filming could begin as early as April 6 and run through
May 28 in the Ashville area, with production offices opening in March.
Are you ready to go Dirty Dancing in North Carolina again ???

Oh- I loved that, too, bj. It was the time of my life and I think I connected to that-it was supposedly set in the Poconos, wasn't it? Anyway, I loved it...and I was sad that the lovely Jennifer Grey had plastic surgery that so altered her looks. Sad----xo Diana
ReplyDeleteLove everything about this movie. I to have lost track of how many times I've watched it.
ReplyDeleteBJ, if you haven't seen Crazy Stupid Love yet, I recommend it to you. There's even a reference to the scene in Dirty Dancing where he catches Baby overhead.
ReplyDeleteYeah... It was sweet, it was sexy and still innocent. Perfectly cast... I love every bit of it!
ReplyDeleteOkay, here's your friend "the prude" again. I remember hating the title of this movie, which probably explains why I didn't see it until 2004 or something. I remember thinking it wasn't so bad and I really enjoyed the dancing. I also really enjoyed Jennifer Grey on Dancing With the Stars, too.
ReplyDeleteYesterday I thought about Mr. Swayze, what a beautiful man he was :).

Oh Yes, I love that movie. Don't know how many times I've watched it but could watch it over and over again. I loved Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this movie! For me it is the dancing, makes me wanna kick up my heels:) Enjoy your day dear B.J. HUGS!
ReplyDeleteI love this movie! Something about it just makes me happy each time I watch it.
ReplyDeleteLove this movie! Thanks for the review.
ReplyDeleteLoved this movie. Patrick Swayze was a great actor and mighty good looking. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteLake Lure isn't far away from where I live
ReplyDeleteOMGoodnss, you have me all FACLEMPT:):):) I loved this movie and have watched it many times too. PERFECTLY cast and yes, the chemistry (at least on the screen) was WOW!!! To me, ANY man who can dance is sexy as he__. Thanks for bringing back the memories. Have a beautiful weekend! BTW, we have been to Lake Lure several times; love the area and didn't know it was filmed there!
ReplyDeleteGreat review bj. With this cold weather and staying indoors ... perfect time to re-watch the old movies.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a nice warm fire going in the fireplace.
Warm hugs ... Audrey Z.
Oh my, it brings back memories, bj! I just wish Jennifer Gray hadn't gone and altered her looks, and for that matter, Renee Zellwegwer, too. They were beautiful before.
ReplyDeleteNobody puts Baby in the corner! Loved that movie! It says "my young life" to me although I did nothing like the characters! Sure didn't look like Baby. She was stunning. Patrick! Gone too soon. I want a peek in your favorite movie basket! Come on. Don't tease us like that! Hugs.
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not I've never seen that movie before. I'm not even sure why because I've seen other Patrick Swayze movies although I think that was his most popular. Okay, one of these days, I'm going to have to rent it... :)
ReplyDeleteI have never seen it. However, have not been to see any movie in a LONG time. What is out there is not my taste. Never cared for musicals. Wait until I tell JD about this fellow.
ReplyDeleteI loved that show also and watch it every time it is on. That dance was just unbelievable - I guess we all dreamed that some day we would be able to dance like that. Nope - never happened!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the good memory.
Judy
Great Movie!!!! I was in love with Johnny Castle ~ Did you know that there is a musical of Dirty Dancing. It's coming to Baltimore in May ( we got my mother in law tickets for Christmas) and I am really hoping that she takes me. : )
ReplyDeleteGood morning bj, I too LOVED this film. I never get tired of watching it as well. Lake Lure is not far from where we live. An hour probably. I didn't know about a new production happening. Your post covered every best scene in the movie. Loved the memory of it all returned to me this morning. Did you see Jennifer Grey on Dancing with the Stars? She was a great dancer.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend bj.
Love , Jeanne
I remember when this movie came out -I was in HS and I loved it!
ReplyDeleteLoved Dirty Dancing. Did you see Jennifer when she was on Dancing With the Stars? Still a gorgeous gal all these years past. Wow.
ReplyDeleteCan you believe I've never seen this? Me, an 80s kid and every one of my friends totally loving it? Ha! Well, I'm curious about that favorite movie basket too!
ReplyDeleteHaPpY pInK sAtUrDaY!
