* CAUTION....
long post
Hi, ya'll..
Copy Catting is one of the most fun things I love about blogging.
I am always on the look-out for something I can copy and save money at the same time.
My friends that have blogged with me for quite awhile will have seen
most of these COPY CATS....but I thought you newer ones might like to see
what fun I've had over the years, living THRU OTHERS ... lol

They aren't the exact same thing but, for the difference in price, I happen to like mine BETTER.. .:>)

(The ones on the left MAY have been from Pottery Barn.)
I've posted this photo about a thousand times but
I had sooo much fun dressing her that I just want to show it over and over .....
(so goofy but remember...
I don't get out much)
I can't remember how much Pottery Barn wanted for their lady on your left...
I bought mine at an Estate Sale for just a few dollars...& already had most of the "jewels..."
The top photo...Country Living
and my copy on the bottom.
...I copied my friend, PAT, when she did her adorable basket..
Then, I saw this beautiful basket that KITTY had put together and couldn't wait to copy it, too.
I'd just bought this cutie-pie ribbon in
CANTON, TX
and started tying it up on a basket I had.
I didn't have pretty flowers to put in mine at the time of posting...
but, that's the way I fly....
get too excited about something to show you and do it before it's really finished.
Another copy that Mr. Sweet was the STAR of.
He built the hutch top that went over our harvest table we bought 52 years ago
to make it all into a Welsh hutch.
I then painted it all RED and we lived happily ever after.
This one so simple, probably took all of 10 minutes to get it together.
The thing about COPY CATTING...
it's all about the IDEAS you get.
The above one was a lot of fun, too.
When I finished this copy, I felt like I was in the South of France...:>)
This is one of my very favorites...
My StoryBook Table
The above was the hardest to put together....
I surely am blessed to have such a talented man for a sweetie.

you know, like hands or
heads with candles coming out the top
so it's odd for me to like this bust....
but I do. I've had a lot of fun with her.
Seems Pottery Barn likes them, too.
hahhhaa....what a hoot.
Someone else likes these busts with jewels.

Take a look at this raving beauty...
My sweet friend, KITTY, wanted to get in on the CopyCat fun
so she dressed her pretty lady and allowed me to share with YOU.
♥ ♥ ♥
I hope you will go over and tell her how pretty her lady is...
and Kitty always has something good to eat over there.

I really LOVE this look but would never have thought to put fern fronds into little bottles without seeing it done in
COUNTRY LIVING.
SEE....isn't this COPY CAT THING fun...??!!

The above was the hardest to put together....
When I found these two tall brass candle holders at a thrift store, I knew exactly what I was going to copy next...
POTTERY BARN....again. :>)
I just spray painted them black and......FELL IN LOVE...♥ ♥ ♥
I'm a big fan of MACKENZIE*CHILDS...
but can't afford much of it.
When I saw this MIRROR SHELF in their catalog...
FOR $1000.00 dollars,
I started dreaming of it.
Fat chance of ever getting it until my hero rode in on a big white horse and said, "You sweet thang...I can make that shelf for you and it will be better than MACKENZIE*CHILDS ever thought about."
bwaaaaaaa...I was so grateful.
And, believe me, it IS much prettier than the original...
and WAAAAAY cheaper.

AIN'T LIFE GRAND !!
you copy cat very well. and your handy husband is a great enabler, too. :)
ReplyDeleteHahahaha! That last one is a riot! I always love your copycat posts. I copied the fern one once, but from some other photo... I think that there's nothing new under the sun, but each time one copycats, he or she adds something fun and different. (I often think your and Mr. Sweet's work is preferable.)
ReplyDeleteoh BJ you do them so well, please show us more!
ReplyDeleteBJ life is indeed grand. Looks like your inspirations allow you much fun and decorating satisfaction. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou are good at this. I've actually seen this type of thing featured in magazine's where they find similar items that cost way less. It's good that you can be frugal and fashionable at the same time. That last shot was funny.
ReplyDeleteOH BJ, you really have some beautiful copies. Your honey is a wonderful carpenter to make you so many lovely items.
ReplyDeleteMary
Everything you (and Mr. Sweet) made turned out pretty BJ! Lovin' the shot of the girls-big smiles:@)
ReplyDeleteI'm crazy about the last one! Smiling so big right now.
ReplyDeleteActually, I just enjoyed the whole post. I remember when you copy catted the shelf. I loved it then and now. I used to love Debbie Dos copycat parties and wish that she would host another one.
BJ, You have great copies. I love all of yours. The candle sticks amazing. Love your desk setting too. Blessings, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteBj, you had done a WONDERFUL job with your copies! Certainly no need to apologize...that's why folks blog, right...to share their ideas...not just for no reason...but to inspire others! Well, consider yourself INSPIRED! The people's ideas you are copying more than likely have been copied by someone else in the first place! Keep up the great copying although I am pretty sure you have a few good ideas of your own too! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteEvery copy cat was lovely! I do the same...
ReplyDeleteFabulous post . . . honestly . . . aren't most of our ideas generated from something we have heard or seen . . .
ReplyDeleteGiving credit to the ideas makes this post delightful . . .
You got it going girl . . .
YES
Life is GRAND . . . it is what we make it!
Your copy cats are better to me than the original ones. Your husband does beautiful wood work. God is good and life is grand. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteYou are the master of the copy cat BJ! Love that last one, lol!
ReplyDeleteHow much fun is that?? You are a champion of copy cats, but I'm not sure that's a good title. Let's say you are a champion of reproducing an image. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteimitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
ReplyDeleteHi BJ, I'm stopping by to let you know I've nominated you for a liebster award. Please let me know if you answer the questions so I can come read them. Thanks

You are one amazing copy catter! I think yours are even better than the originals too!
ReplyDelete~Trisha
Ha! Love the last one for sure. I am so impressed with your copy talent, in fact I think you surpass the originals in many of your own!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed scrolling through them all.
Have a beautiful day!
Oh such fun to see all your copy cat ideas, my friend! I like to think of it as inspiration that we get from each other, which does make blogging so much fun. I'm flattered that you included my basket, which I still have on my front door, but I change out the flowers seasonally. Your Mr. Sweet IS so talented. Your MC look alike shelf is much cuter and your hutch... I'm swooning over.
ReplyDeleteI've copied your idea do the bust of the lady and found one at HomeGoods and she's sitting on my bathroom counter. My three year old granddaughter wants one so bad!!! I must find her one, or she'll get mine!
Oh BJ....I love your copycatting. I saw something on Pinterest I would love to copy, but....I am not at my best this week. I don't seem to be doing much lately. Oh well, as one of my co-chemo friends said, I'm still above the grass!!
ReplyDeleteYou copy cat so well...I like many of your copies better than the original.
ReplyDeleteBalisha
You are great at what you do. I love your copy-cat ideas and how you change them for your own personal style.
ReplyDeleteJust keep inspiring us ... no telling how many bloggers have copied you. Always love the things Mr. Sweet has built for you.
Blessings,
Audrey Z. @ Timeless Treasures
BJ, all of your copy cats are awesome! Isn't it fun to get inspiration from some other source and create it for a fraction of the cost? That's the only way to go!! You rock!
ReplyDeleteBJ,
ReplyDeleteI adore your "copy~cat" posts, dear friend!!!
Imagine my joy when I saw my front porch basket!!!
Thank you, dear friend!!!
Love the end with the "grands"!
Fondly,
Pat
I like yours better, BJ. You are very talented....Christine
ReplyDeleteHi BJ, you are very creative! I like your style better than most of the others.
ReplyDeleteI must say, the heads with the candles really freaked me out...
I loved all of your copy cat ideas. So many cute ones. Every one of them looks like you had so much fun doing your version. The ferns in the little bottles caught my eye. My ferns are shivering in their pots, they may sense that if it wasn't storming outside right now, I'd be out there nipping away at them with scissors! My version may have antique bottles. When I see all of the cute ideas you have, I know that you are the type of person who never gets bored, but gets busy.
ReplyDeleteThe doll heads with a candle in them were a little scary to me. Maybe they are for Halloween at the home of someone who didn't want any kids knocking at the door for candy. I caught myself thinking how funny the doll heads would look with a light bulb instead of a candle. How's that for a bright idea!
You are a terrific copy-catter! I love the red hutch top and the mirror shelf is awesome! Your honey is very talented!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a clever one, BJ. Every one of your projects are awesome.
ReplyDeleteI always seem to like your copy cats better. They show us that we can have the same look, often using what we have, without spending a fortune on all new items! The hutch and shelf have always been favorites of mine, but all of your copy cats have a little of y our own flair and personality. That's what makes them so beautiful!
ReplyDeletewe are crazy alike!!!
