Our 1st Thanksgiving without Mr. Sweet

He would have been so happy to know most of his family
gathered together once again for marvelous "family time"
and a lot of his favorite foods.

Stacy brought me this cute apron
and I love it.

My mama and aunts all wore aprons way back in the day...not sure why most ladies don't even own aprons now.

I was trying to keep my apron clean while we cooked but Stac said,
"Ladies used to wipe their hands on their apron and I want mine to look like it's been used a let's get 'em dirty and we can wash them...then they will look like they are supposed to." 😃

Such a beautiful day...
such a beautiful family...💞

Hi, Deeds....I love you, you cutie pie...

...just look at all these happy, sweet people...
we had 12 this year and so grateful.

We are so so blessed to have this large and loving family...

Three of the gorgeous grands that hold my heart in their hands.

I love this handsome grandson, BROOKS...
he is about to move for the winter to California to work at a ski resort...
I am sooo glad he was with us for this holiday.

Son, DAVID and wife, KATHY...
mom and dad to 6 of our grands.

STACY was the photographer for the day..
didn't she do a fabulous job !
But, we only got ONE photo of her
and that was in a family group picture.
She and Jent are mom and dad to 4 of our sweet grands.

My face here looks sad...
we did have a good day for which I am thankful...
... it's just hard  without him.
I have a feeling that he was able to know somehow
that we were all together again for a wonderful family time.

Stacy and family...
David and his family slipped out without getting into a group photo..
I heard them saying something about going home FOR A NAP....

So many thanks to my family for another beautiful Thanksgiving.
I love you every one so so much.

I'm hoping all my blogging friends had a wonderful
Thanksgiving Celebration.
Love to all, bj

  1. bj, What a blessing to have such a large loving family around you. All who know and love your Mr. Sweet, too. I am so glad to see that you wee surrounded by your family for Thanksgiving!! I always feel my Mom and Da's presence with us for each and every Holiday and I hope you felt that Mr. Sweet was still with you all in spirit...

  24. Our first holiday after the death of our daughter was extremely difficult. I won't say you will ever get over the loss (especially at family get togethers) but you do start to remember that your loved ones are always with you and are watching over you.

    God bless.

  25. I am so glad you were surrounded by your wonderful family for Thanksgiving, BJ. There is much love there.

  26. Hello,

I happened on your blog today and it really touched my heart. I lost my husband a few years ago and I know how difficult the "firsts" are. Like you I am fortunate to be surrounded by a loving family and that is so helpful. Somehow, especially during the holiday season, I always feel that he is with me, and of course he is as love really never dies but keeps living in your heart. I am sure that he is very, very proud of you and the way you have found the strength, courage and love to carry on these family traditions.

    Happy Holidays!

  27. First here without Mama, as well.... Your family looks wonderful!

  28. Wonderful photos. I am so glad you had your family with you this Thanksgiving with out your husband, I know how you must have felt I still miss my husband especially on holidays. B.J. it does get better but they are always with us in spirit. Have a blessed evening. I love your new header. Madeline

  29. Oh bj...I know the feeling. This was my second year without my is so hard, but with all the love that surrounds us with family and our Heavenly Father watching over makes it okay. They are missed terribly by everyone. My day, as it sounds like yours as well was so full of love, we can do nothing but be thankful. I know I am blessed.

  30. PS you look amazing, and I love your apron!! My mother always wore them! And yes they were to be used like the towels and paper towels we use today!!

  31. I'm so glad you could be with your family. I love your apron - it's perfect for you!

  32. I know, I know how hard this was BJ....but you did a marvelous job of enjoying your Thanksgiving with such a beautiful family....sending hugs and love.

  33. Our best to you and yours, dear Lady...

  34. I know your day was easier surrounded by such a loving family. Sending prayers your way.

  35. BJ, What a beautiful Thanksgiving celebration with your big, loving family. I think that Mr. Sweets loved seeing all of your smiling faces.

  36. What a beautiful family you and your dear Mr Sweet created, BJ! Your Thanksgiving looks like it was grand, and I believe that Mr Sweet was right there with all of you.

  37. Such a beautiful precious time with your family BJ, so thankful you have them to surround you in this season of your life! Life is not, nor ever will be, the same without Mr. Sweet, somehow the new normal may never feel normal, but you are making the best of it, and with such a sweet group of family there, that helps so much. I love your new apron, and I agree, they need to get dirty, they do serve a purpose! A great spread of food put on for all, I was spying those deviled eggs, and thinking how good they look! Hugs to you today dear friend!

  38. You have a beautiful family.... I understand what you are going through. I lost my mom at the end of July unexpectedly and this is the first holiday without her... I miss her dearly and it just didn't seem the same. Thank you for sharing your day with us and I will keep you in my prayers as you go through this journey of loss... Have a good week! :-)

  39. BJ, much love to you as you travel through the holidays. Your family is there for you and so are all your blogging friends. Looks like such a wonderful meal, it makes me want to start eating all over again.

  40. I thought of you on Thanksgiving as I know the 1st holidays without loved ones are the hardest. I'm so thankful that you were surrounded by those you love and that it made the day a bit easier to handle. I'm sure he knew you were all together and was watching over the celebration.

  41. I haven't been by in a while but I do enjoy your page when I do stop in. I'm glad you had such a special day with family even though the table seemed a bit empty. God bless.

  42. Awww bj, I know you miss your Mr. Sweet, but his memory sure lives on in all those family members. You look so darn cute in the pretty apron. Yes, we sure should wipe our hands on our aprons! Stacy is so right. Love and God bless you, bj.

Love your apron and your right, why don't we wear aprons? I have lots, but would rather get my clothes dirty LOL.

    Take care dear friend.

  46. I know you miss, Mr. Sweet. Blessings to you dear one.
Your family is beautiful and I love all the pictures. Candid shots are so precious. They love you for sure.
