Our 1st Thanksgiving without Mr. Sweet

He would have been so happy to know most of his family
gathered together once again for marvelous "family time"
and a lot of his favorite foods.

Stacy brought me this cute apron
and I love it.

My mama and aunts all wore aprons way back in the day...not sure why most ladies don't even own aprons now.

I was trying to keep my apron clean while we cooked but Stac said,
"Ladies used to wipe their hands on their apron and I want mine to look like it's been used a lot...so let's get 'em dirty and we can wash them...then they will look like they are supposed to." 😃

Such a beautiful day...
such a beautiful family...💞

Hi, Deeds....I love you, you cutie pie...

...just look at all these happy, sweet people...
we had 12 this year and so grateful.

We are so so blessed to have this large and loving family...
I AM THANKFUL

Three of the gorgeous grands that hold my heart in their hands.

I love this handsome grandson, BROOKS...
he is about to move for the winter to California to work at a ski resort...
I am sooo glad he was with us for this holiday.

Son, DAVID and wife, KATHY...
mom and dad to 6 of our grands.

STACY was the photographer for the day..
didn't she do a fabulous job !
But, we only got ONE photo of her
and that was in a family group picture.
She and Jent are mom and dad to 4 of our sweet grands.

My face here looks sad...
we did have a good day for which I am thankful...
... it's just hard  without him.
I have a feeling that he was able to know somehow
that we were all together again for a wonderful family time.

Stacy and family...
David and his family slipped out without getting into a group photo..
I heard them saying something about going home FOR A NAP....

So many thanks to my family for another beautiful Thanksgiving.
I love you every one so so much.

I'm hoping all my blogging friends had a wonderful
Thanksgiving Celebration.
Love to all, bj

  1. bj, What a blessing to have such a large loving family around you. All who know and love your Mr. Sweet, too. The best group to seek comfort with during this first Thanksgiving without him on this earth. Love the aprons and that it was suggested to "get em dirty". Makes me happy that I indulged in buying yet another one at Goodwill today! Love and hugs to you, dear bj!

  11. Remarkable woman you are! With such a wonderful, supportive family, it comes as no surprise. More than sad, I thought you looked reflective as if thinking about other Thanksgivings and good times through the years. Did you take a nap? I didn’t but sure felt like one once the tryptophan kicked in. 😴

  24. Our first holiday after the death of our daughter was extremely difficult. I won't say you will ever get over the loss (especially at family get togethers) but you do start to remember that your loved ones are always with you and are watching over you.

    God bless.

  26. Hello,

I happened on your blog today and it really touched my heart. I lost my husband a few years ago and I know how difficult the "firsts" are. Like you I am fortunate to be surrounded by a loving family and that is so helpful. Somehow, especially during the holiday season, I always feel that he is with me, and of course he is as love really never dies but keeps living in your heart. I am sure that he is very, very proud of you and the way you have found the strength, courage and love to carry on these family traditions.

    Happy Holidays!

  29. Oh bj...I know the feeling. This was my second year without my Tom...it is so hard, but with all the love that surrounds us with family and our Heavenly Father watching over us..it makes it okay. They are missed terribly by everyone. My day, as it sounds like yours as well was so full of love, we can do nothing but be thankful. I know I am blessed.

    Friends,
    Gert

  37. Such a beautiful precious time with your family BJ, so thankful you have them to surround you in this season of your life! Life is not, nor ever will be, the same without Mr. Sweet, somehow the new normal may never feel normal, but you are making the best of it, and with such a sweet group of family there, that helps so much. I love your new apron, and I agree, they need to get dirty, they do serve a purpose! A great spread of food put on for all, I was spying those deviled eggs, and thinking how good they look! Hugs to you today dear friend!
