GOOD GRIEF...!!

Pretty much every one knows I am not crafty.
I WANNA be crafty...
I TRY to be crafty...
but I am NOT crafty.

However, every now and then, I get a creative BEE in my BONNET
and I just have to TRY.

So today (1/27) I made a trip to
HOBBY LOBBY and went from
no crafts to work on to 3....

one is very simple....

(notice that these "tools" match and makes me look like I have a CLUE how to use them...

...ever heard of FAT QUARTERS ?
little packets of fabric squares used for all kinds of crafts...
and the only reason I know that is that the sales lady at Hobby told me.

One craft is hard and will take for-ev-er to finish and will bring about much crying, stomping, praying and laughing...
you know that sometimes you have to laugh to KEEP from crying.

and THIS ONE....
who am I kidding when I say I really, REALLY want to make
the softest, soft color GRANNY SQUARE blanket.
I should be able to Google GRANNY SQUARE and can learn to make one.

I'm thinking it's a sad state of affairs when an olden woman like myself
doesn't know squat about making things.....O, well, they do say
YOU ARE NEVER TO OLD TO LEARN.
There's a lot of inspiration on blogs that keep me jumping from
baking to
eating to
decorating to
crafting  ( HA ) to
WANTING...
I just absolutely ADORE the Land of Blog.....
but it sure keeps me hopping.

I'm on a quest to break my
15" fish record...
so I'm going after a big, ole
TEXAS CATFISH....and...
I've no idea what was with my hair that day....but, I didn't seem to be too concerned about it...lol
 We've gone fishin'.....
see ya soon.
xo, bj

  2. Just start with squares for your quilt. Take it slowly!

  3. I am worse because I buy this stuff, saying "I could make that!" and then half way through it find that I really am not talented enough to try any of these things. Loved - and could relate to - this post!

  4. Ha ha! Looks like the hook released the comment box. Have fun and I hope you get the big one!

  5. You've joined the quilters..Hooray!!! Did they tell you that rotary cutters have VERY sharp blades and always move it away from you, and keep fingers out of the way? Do you have a cutting ruler as well?> This will make it so much easier and get exactly the right widths. Love your fabrics, specially the owls. and now, the next thing?? Do you have a pattern in mind? I can see lots of photos coming.

  6. I never worry about perfection, since I give my items away and never try to sell anything. The fun is in the doing!

  7. Yup BJ very true you're never too old - for if you have the will you will find the way! Seriously I had to google how to blanket stitch. I used to always do it and then suddenly when I needed to do it, I forgot. I buy fat quarters of silk velvet off of etsy to make velvet pumpkins. Have fun playing.

  8. Don't be so hard on yourself - you are a terrific cook and lots of people can't cook worth a darn. But, you will get the hang of it and it will come out great.
    Happy fishing.....
    Hugs,
    Mary

  11. Hahaha-You forgot to really CLOSE your comments...unlucky you!! You ARE crafty. You just don't give yourself enough credit. One of your crafts is cooking and another is taking great pictures and writing beautiful word stories on your blog. Good luck with your "new" craft projects. I have always wanted to learn to knit or crochet and have never taken the time to learn. Have fun fishin'....xo Diana

  12. Bj, My brothers think they are the fishermen. But I can out fish them. Once I went fishing with my husband and brother, I asked, "who's doing the cooking?" they said you are, you are one of the boys. I asked who's doing the cleaning. They said, "You are you are one of the boys. " We all went fishing one day and I caught a 4 pound 20 inch small mouth bass...on the way back in, I said "well I am a man NOW!!" They had to admit I caught the biggest fish that whole week. LOL Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  15. Have fun with the projects. I'm back to stitching my needlepoint. Trying to finish some things that were started years ago and have been sitting there patiently. '-)

  16. When I wanted to re-learn how to do a granny square, I found the best teacher at You-Tube...a young man who explained it all so well and never said, "There you go, you're on your own." He went with me to the last stitch. Besides you can back up to see a thing again.

So now you've got plenty of projects. Looking forward to seeing all that you are up to. Have fun fishing!

  17. Oh my goodness, I am still laughing at your some of your photos and explanations. I am a quilter, so you made me laugh! Good luck with your new tools and fabric and all! I can't crochet and hardly knit, so you can laugh at me there.

  19. I always wonder what fish think when they get caught and thrown back. I'm sure there a few fish that go through this multiple times.

  24. I am the same. I am learning to knit at my age of 74. Your new assignment sounds pretty good. The wool looks very pretty to make what you want.

I did my plain knit for starters now doing knit pearl. Oh my I find the knit pearl lot harder as now I have to sort of go into the stitch backwards. My neighbor is teaching me but harder then I thought. I put my first knitting on my blog. Now I am a bit hesitant to brag wit the next assignment. So your not alone.

So sorry but I have no other choice.
I love my blogging friends and most of all my family but these spam prone people are so rude and selfish have made my blogging not nearly as much fun..
