A year or so ago, I found this WATERMELON PIE recipe and couldn't wait to try it.
It was delicious...
a very light, airy dessert that
Mr. Sweet
REALLY liked..
Creamy Watermelon Pie
1/4 c. boiling water
12-oz. frozen whipped topping, thawed
2 c. watermelon, seeded & cubed
1 graham cracker crust
In a large bowl, dissolve the gelatin in boiling water. Cool the mixture to room temperature. Whisk in the whipped topping and fold in the cubed watermelon. Spoon mixture into crust. Refrigerate for 2 hours or until set.
and now, there's WATERMELON CAKE... !!!!
I am so impressed.
This mix, as you can see is for CUPCAKES
but can be made into a cake as well.
This cake taste JUST LIKE A WATERMELON...
it all seemed a little weird...
cake tasting like watermelon just doesn't seem quite right..
(like CANDY being sour)
The frosting on the box is bright green but I used
a Lime glaze (just a powdered sugar glaze with a touch of lime juice)
This makes a beautiful cake and I will make it again for a
hot summer day and serve it with ICE CREAM...

you always get the best products in the States, here in Canada we wait forever to get all the new things and this won't likely come to Canada til next year!
ReplyDeleteI love the sound of the pie too! We don't have watermelon jello here,,,
Good summertime desserts. I've never seen watermelon jello. Hmmm. Guess I need to look harder. Glad to be back from my trip to catch up with you.
ReplyDeleteServing size=1 entire cake, right?? Looks delicious. I love watermelon. :-)
ReplyDeleteSure looks pretty and refreshing, Yum.
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Vera
Over here we usually eat the watermelon as cut fruit or as juice. Hmmm but your watermelon cake do look yummy!
ReplyDeleteSince the melon is so juicy, it's hard to imagine it being in a pie or cake. And I really do prefer my watermelon in the rind. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWho knew? Watermelon pie and cake? Personally, I probably wouldn't eat more than a taste. I grew up in Rocky Ford, CO, "The Melon Capital of the World", and had my fill of melons by the time I was 5. They came right out of the field next to the house -- my Dad would be horrified eating watermelon from Betty Crocker!!! Enjoyed your post. Sally
ReplyDeleteYour watermelon pie and cake both look so yummy. Thanks for sharing this with us. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteI wonder???? Do they make watermelon ice cream?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure some place does!
Or would this be toooooooo much "watermelon"????? All on one plate? Cake and ice cream? -grinnnnn-
Better stick to a contrasting flavor.
Cool hugs,
Tessa
Darling idea! Yummy!
ReplyDeleteomgoodness, i'm drooling!!!
ReplyDeleteI got that cake mix plus the Orange Dreamsickle one but haven't made them yet. Yours looks yummy!

I know artificial flavors can typically taste almost nothing like the real thing. Like strawberries, and to a point blueberry.
ReplyDeleteTHAT is the very reason the PIE was better than the CAKE...:)
DeleteBJ, Your photos are so pretty. That cake is gorgeous. Sounds yummy for summer. I could see kids loving this. Blessings for a fun filled weekend, pretty lady. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteOmword girl! Torture!Hahaaaa

I agree with Donna above! Been doing the Whole-30 for a week and have stopped reading your posts daily and just do them all in one day so I won't want to kill myself. A carb-less diet is not for sissies.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of the watermelon pie, made with real watermelon. Yum.
ReplyDeleteCool! It's new to me and sounds great! I need to go to the cake mix aisle!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome, dear Lady....
ReplyDeleteHave never heard of "Watermelon Pie" sounds delicious....
Greatr post...!!!!

ReplyDeleteGot your comment about the rolls. No, I never posted the formula on that one. Thanks for asking though.
Wishing you a great day and boogie boogie.
Looks so good bj ... reminds me of a strawberry cake that I used to make.
ReplyDeleteDon't do much baking now that it is so hot, but this one sounds really easy.
Thanks,
Audrey Z.

How CUTE! And I have to make you smile. I came to visit you for Pink Saturday, but first I went to check on LV since I did NOT see her at Pink Saturday (I miss often, but she rarely, if ever, does!). I saw you had beat me to checking on her. So joining in with you on prayers for her and smiling at the sweet relationships that have come from Pink Saturday :)
