Only a few days left to...
GET IT TOGETHER !!!
TODAY is
CANDY MAKING DAY.....
We start off with candy made from the infamous
BARK.
I always have a batch of
PEPPERMINT BARK....
....and VANILLA COCONUT
and....CHOCOLATE CHIP MARBLE
and
PURE PECAN
and a favorite behind PEPPERMINT...
CRANBERRY PECAN with
TOASTED COCONUT ON TOP...
YES, MA'AM...
we made candy today.
Tonight, I plan to make my mama's recipe of
DATE NUT LOAF....
OOO, I do love it and she made it every single Christmas since I got my first tooth !!
and
PECAN DIVINITY is on my list to make but.....not today.
It's CLOUDY .....a little RAINY.....
and I've been told all my life that DIVINITY won't "set up" on these kind of days.
MR. SWEET SANTA just came thru and said he sure hoped
he'd have a plate of these candies waiting for him on
CHRISTMAS EVE.....
and I said,
"You bet your black, shiny SANTA BOOTS you will...."
They do look mighty good, don't they....

put it all in a RED pot and simmer, keeping a watchful eye on it.
O HONEY
Mr. Sweet just stuck his head in the kitchen door, sniffing like a hound dog
and wanting to know "when can we eat it...?"
Not to eat, my good man...
just a
CHRISTMAS SMELL-GOOD TREAT...
give this a try instead of using candles and room spray, for a change....
now I want to do the CLOVE/ORANGE thing....:>)

My mouth is watering. Yummy goodness all the way around!!!
ReplyDeleteyour candy is wonderful and the air sweetener is just my styl, I am deathly allergic to scented candles and plug in thingies, natural is much better anyway! Merry Christmas my friend, I'm so glad I found you again, I enjoy my visits here so much,
ReplyDeleteBJ your candy all looks so good. It is so true about the divinity. My precious mama made the best in the world. She would tint some pink and leave some white. So pretty and delicious. I make dry potpourri and put in pretty containers and give for gifts. I love making it and I use the spices you use plus a few more. I had leftover from one year so I stuck it in the freezer. It was as good as the day I made it when I got it out the following year. Merry Christmas BJ. Your new home is just beautiful. Love, Becky
ReplyDeleteYum! I will have some of each, Please! :-D I have not made candy in several years now - don't need the temptation around the house.
ReplyDeleteWishing you and your family a Very Merry Christmas!!!
BJ,
ReplyDeleteHave yourself a Merry Little Christmas, dear friend!!!
I love all your candies. . .just like "Mr. Sweet"!!!
My MoMa said the same thing about divinity...only make it on a clear, sun shiny day!!!
No Christmas baking this year, we're going to our son and daughter~in~laws.
