So Thankful

It seems I might NEVER get ALL these boxes unpacked....
We're OLDEN, you know....
and we work SOOO slow...

I do, however, have most of the rooms looking straight and proper
and I just keep ignoring those boxes sitting over there in the corner.

But, now...

I must find a few THANKSGIVING items to make things look festive.

Our sweet family will be here for Thanksgiving lunch, as always,
and we are so excited to be having it here in our new place.

SOOO....

I searched thru boxes and came up with my beautiful, large brown ceramic pumpkin

this pretty thing was bought about 3 or 4 years ago at TJMAXX
and I still love it lots.

...then, I found my beautiful GIVE THANKS plaque that my sweet daughter,
STACY LEIGH, gave me a few years back.

I've had the pretty holder for several years, from my favorite little boutique.

I had already  unpacked my AUTUMN, orange candle that smells so heavenly.

Would you believe that the flowers I bought for my sweet BUNCO BABES
last week
are still beautiful.
(most likely, tho, I'll buy fresh ones for our day)

So, it seemed to me that I had enuf "pretties" to decorate a pretty spot
at the end of the island in the kitchen.

We'll have buffet style on that very island..

ROASTED TURKEY
CORNBREAD DRESSING
BUTTERY MASHED POTATOES
GIBLET GRAVY
SPIRAL SLICED HONEY HAM
SWEET POTATO FRIES (baked in the oven)
CRANBERRY SAUCE
GREEN BEAN CASSEROLE
HOT ROLLS
DESSERTS  DESSERTS  DESSERTS.....
so I think one end all decorated up will make all the luscious foods
look even more delicious.

Yes, we are thankful for all the delicious foods that will be served.

But, like you, it's having our family and friends around us, sharing the
gratefulness and thankfulness that we all feel,
especially this time of year.

I hope you all have the kind of Thanksgiving you are thankful for.

(Now, I have to get busy and unpack (UN-pack...???)
a few Christmas decorations....
OH ME....OH MY....

Ain't life GRAND !!
XOXO

  18. I will be having Thanksgiving here with my son and his family, my daughter Deann and her son and my other Daughter Debra. It seems the more my family grows the less I have at family gatherings because of their living so far away or having other places to go. I know you will have a great Thanksgiving in your new home. Really like your decorations. Have a blessed day. Madeline

  19. Pretty. I just decorate for fall rather than do Halloween and Thanksgiving - but by now I'm ready to put it all away and put Christmas stuff out. I'm so ready for Christmas. I have learned to like Thanksgiving in recent years, but it's still not one of my favorite holidays. My Native American ancestors didn't even celebrate.

  20. Good Morning BJ, Your menu is going to be yummy and the celebration in your new home with family will let you make some more wonderful memories. I am going to my son and daughter-in-laws to be with family and then take supper to my hubby at the nursing home. We celebrate Saturday at the Nursing home with a Thanksgiving dinner. It does take time to unpack, but there is really no rush. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and Prayers from Your Missouri Friend.

  22. Rome wasn't built in a day! You are doing great just getting the house livable and already so pretty:>) I think it's a good thing to see how much can be left in boxes. Easier to store and a sure fire way to weed out the things you don't really use. Besides, you can always dig for more pretties as you tire of the vignettes and decorations you already have out and it will be just like Christmas every time you open a box and realize you have something pretty that you forgot all about and can enjoy all over again. Just think, all new memories will be made around the Thanksgiving table at the new house, it's the beginning of the history you and your family will make there! Now that's exciting!
