My features for this party:
Our CHRISTMAS TREE
AND
CHRISTMAS MANTEL
Mr. Sweet and I donated our 7' tree to Goodwill years ago...
with our advancing age, it was getting harder to carry it up and down those attic stairs.
We opted for a tabletop 4' tree and never looked back...
LOVE IT...
also just love using this
SANTA HAT as our tree topper.
I use strictly a TRADITIONAL theme....
reds, greens
with a little black and white thrown in for good measure...... :)
and SANTAS and SNOWPEOPLE.
I love pine cones when I can find them but we don't have many around here.
*
I bought this little lighted SANTA when our grandson, DREW, was a year old.
He is 25 now.
*
One CHRISTMAS, Mr. Sweet hid a beautiful sapphire and diamond cross for me in the
little green sack.
sooo fun.
(*shhhhhh..
now, in secret, I can't keep from peeking in it every Christmas)
(*shhhhhh..
now, in secret, I can't keep from peeking in it every Christmas)
Every time I walk by the tree, I stop and do a little tweaking.
Christmas brings out the child in me...so I decorate accordingly...
I have so enjoyed my little snow people,
all dressed in the colors of my choice...
This is the 2nd year they have paraded across our vintage mantel and made the holidays especially fun for me.
Before you leave, please stop in my kitchen...
I want to show you my tiny KITCHEN Christmas tree...
it's TURQUOISE...
one of my favorite colors....
this photo is from last Christmas.
I changed it up a bit this year, using TEXAS wooded ornaments
a friend hand painted for me.

Chocolate Chip Pecan and White Chocolate Cranberry

I have the Rooster Cabinet all set up for
This darling JOY stocking and the cute bag it came in
is from CAROL at ART AND SAND ...
I think it's the cutest thing ....and I have it hanging on a knob on the Rooster cabinet.
Thanks so so much, Carol....I just love them both.

Coffee, tea, hot chocolate or Spiced Cider..?
and plenty of cookies...
you can even take some home with you.
One thing I've collected over the years is cute
CHRISTMAS cups.
(that's a post in draft...)
This time of year, the thrift stores are full of them...
just pick the cutest one of the bunch every time and before you know it, you've got an amazing cup collection.

it was "the buy of the day"
with 20% off so of COURSE, it had to come
light up my life......
I was singing a song when I spied these adorable paper plates
in the colors of the season here at THE SUMMER HOUSE.

As I sit here with my first cup of coffee, I am wishing I could reach in and take a cookie! Oh BJ...outstanding! Your whimsy is simply delightful! I fell in love with the black and white Christmas collectibles last year...they are so adorable I would want to leave them out all year long. This was simply an outstanding Christmas post! Big, big Texas hugs for sharing your sweet home style!
ReplyDeleteYour decorating is beautiful girl. You have a talent for making something feel warm and cosy.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Hi bj, Well if I leave now by car, I can be there in about 8 hours. LOL Your home is so inviting and cozy to be for the holiday. Love it and the colors are right after my own heart. Black and white with red is my theme this year too. Your tree is so precious in 4 foot and that little Santa holding the bag is a treasure. I'd be peeking inside that every Christmas too. Love all your special touches and your aqua tree is beautiful with the Texas ornaments on it. Love that pop of color and I use it too. Oh how good the cookies look. Hey, I'm all for a mix when we are so busy. Works for me.

ReplyDeleteBJ,
ReplyDeletePerfect Texas ornaments for your turquoise tree as part of the Texas in Christmas tour. I, too, would be taking a sneak peek into Santa's bag. Merry Christmas.
Judith
BJ, you know this Texas gal is smiling big with the sight of your beautifully decorated home. Of course I love the color scheme!!!
ReplyDeleteWe are all about red, green, black, and white here too. Love the cute snow people in their darling outfits. Didn't see the plates at Target, but I did find some cute gift wrap embellishments that were a black and white theme. They sparked a new idea for updating my little metal tree. Will share soon.
Great job on the tour. Thanks for having us. Merry Christmas!
BJ your touches of black and white are just stunning. The turquoise tree is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteBJ, you've done an amazing job! Your home looks so warm and inviting. Thank you for sharing it on the tour. Have a lovely week. Toodles, Kathryn @TheDedicatedHouse
ReplyDeletebj, your Christmas in Texas is wonderful. I too love those 4ft trees now and use so many vintage and family ornaments. I call it a memory tree! Your snow people are so cute. I've got birds with knitted hats on as a collection this year. They make me smile.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Linda
I'm a wee tad envious you are all up and decorated! I hope to be by tomorrow when book club comes but scrambling right now! It's so festive and cheery -- you can definitely tell that you live in jolly old elf territory!
ReplyDeleteLove that little tree...the hat is a super topper!! :) Ho Ho Ho!!
ReplyDeleteBJ,
ReplyDeleteChocolate chip pecan ... Now how can I resist? Yum!!! You know what BJ what I adore the most about you is that you have engaged your inner child in the joy of play and you are forever young. What an adorable idea to use the Santa hat as a tree topper. Loved your tour, I want to sit and chat for a spell.
xoxo,
Vera
I knew it was going to be GOOD!
ReplyDeleteDear Pure Texan, :)
ReplyDeleteYou are so dingy danged inspiring! Now I have to put my Santa hat up on my tree..no doubt about it. Sooo cute! I put a vintage star up there..but..it will not, for the love of heaven, stay straight. So..the Santa hat will cover a multitude of crooked. :) Are we having fun yet? I do so love this time of year and you always make it even more fun with all your ideas.
I made cookies..no pictures, but they were gone by the next afternoon. A package mix you say? Not to worry, I'm on it!! heh heh I knew exactly what you meant about the tree business..with the stairs etc. and I think PH and I are headed for the same next year. Table top..yes, indeed. I did the same thing this year as I did last and ordered my tree from North Carolina. A bit much for us any more.. Did I say "a bit??" :) The poor thing is still sitting there undecorated.
Love and hugs to you this Holiday Season!
Mona
Such a cheerful holiday home! So glad to be on the tour with you!!
ReplyDeleteBJ...you have outdone yourself. So much to like...I don't know where to start! I would look in the little bag every year too! Just saying you never know. ha. I want to try the santa hat on a tree. And speaking of tree...that turquoise is so great! Love your black white red combo too. I am using some of the same colors this year too. I wish I could grab one of those cookies! Your home just looks so lovely, friendly, and just fun fun fun. Thanks for the tour! Sheila e
