This time of year finds me wanting to change up a lot of
decorating here in our pretty Summer House.
Spring and Summer finds me wanting to make things
lighter and brighter than thru the cold, winter season.
The first place I love making changes is on the mantel...
The first place I love making changes is on the mantel...
out goes most of my reds, which I love using during cold weather...
red seems to make things
warmer...
cozier...
I nearly always have TOUCHES of red,
no matter my color scheme....
I nearly always have TOUCHES of red,
no matter my color scheme....
This art above our mantel hangs all thru the fall and winter...
but come spring and summer......
I bring out my adorable pink and white pigs !!!
This time, I added my green hydrangeas
to a stack of my favorite books
for a lighter, more colorful
addition to the mantel.
I added a faux Eucalyptus stem on the other end...
...a pretty green bottle looks good just about anywhere...
___
...put my little white ceramic cow full of pink dried roses
because they bring out the same shades in the art...
( I really need to find another cow pitcher to add roses to...
I move this little white one all over the house....) ♥ ♥ ♥
Just as I was nearly finished with my mantel,
I remembered the beautiful book our girl, STACY LEIGH,
gave me a few Christmas' ago....
I love it there because...
well...
it has PINK on the cover....😁
The lamp here is a little short beside the book....
I'll be on the look-out for a taller one...
This one is left on day and night...a great little night light.
I am about to remove more red and add my favorite color,
turquoise....aquas...gray blues,
in our living room.
...such great colors for a lighter look .
I'm pretty sure I am going to want to show you....😁
You definitely have a flair for creating vignettes in your mantle. My mantle has a huge window behind it and I struggle decorating it!
ReplyDeleteI just adore that sweet piggy painting!
ReplyDeleteI love changing out the mantel, bringing in favorite things that make me smile. I bet you have fun with it, too! Have fun freshening it all up. it looks so light and pretty in there!
ReplyDeleteHappy Spring bj . . .
ReplyDeleteLove the piggies . . .
Some pink, treasures and fun . . .
Your mantel looks great BJ! I think the mantel is one of the hardest places in the house to decorate, for some reason. Your artwork and the pretty book are perfect.
ReplyDeleteTweaking, puttering, playing some, always good! Yes, I absolutely want to see anything you do. It always looks just right.
ReplyDeleteLove your seasonal changes BJ. Hugs to you -- J.
ReplyDeleteYou always have your house decorated so nice. Love seeing all the changes you make. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteNice mantel
ReplyDeleteThose little piggies are real cuties too!
ReplyDeleteI love your art! Both of them! I'm going to paint some critters on canvas this year and I hope to start soon. Here it is nearly April and I have not painted one single canvas this year!
ReplyDeleteYou make everything look so pretty! I know you are missing your Mr. Sweet. I still pray for you and Vee and for my friends Linda and Melba. All four of you are precious to me....
I would say you pulled off your beautiful spring mantle perfectly! It's lovely. (I do love those pigs!)
ReplyDeleteHi bj,
ReplyDeleteYour spring mantel looks so cute. Love the piggy picture. They make me smile.
Hugs,
Kris
Love those pigs and all of your 'spring' touches! You did a great job selecting the books and all of the elements to make it feel lighter. Now if the weather would just cooperate with the calendar lol! We don't have snow thank goodness but the temps are more like February!
ReplyDeleteI’m partial to reds in the cold months too. Ive noticed that im starting to bring out more yellows right now. Love the little cow creamer. I’m sure yours is a nice vintage one but I acutally saw some “reproduced” ones at Walmart last night. Go to Walmart.com. and search “Cow Creamer”. OMG! Pioneer Woman has some that will make you say ahhhhh with the printed ones!!!!

BJ, I use my buffalo plaids thru winter and I truly need to get busy here and do some spring and summer decorating. I am on the look out for some green faux hydrangeas. I think I like silk flowers best...but I do have some dried roses too. I love your mantle. The pig picture adds some fun and love the colors. Blessings, xoxo, love, Susie
