PIGEONS, that is.....
Hello to all...
this post is from a couple yrs ago and one of my favorites...
so....
I thought I'd bring it back for some of my friends that
didn't even know me way back then...
*
Now, I ask you...
is THIS PLACE CARD not one of the cutest you've ever seen...??
OOO,
and notice the NAME on this card....
I never got to meet this beautiful woman that was my mother's mother...
She died in her middle 30's, leaving my mama, her 2 sisters and a brother.
OK...BACK TO THE PLACE CARDS:
EXCUSE MEEEE while I FALL IN LOVE !!
This cute idea came from COUNTRY LIVING magazine...
boy, I just LOVE that magazine.
At the risk of being ran out of Blogland on a rail,
I will take this time, ladies and gents,
to say that I've never, EVER used PLACE CARDS at our table.
...am I a RED NECK or what..??
♥
But when I saw THESE CUTIES, I decided to make a couple.

But when I saw THESE CUTIES, I decided to make a couple.
I think they are just adorable...
and super, SUPER easy to make.
and super, SUPER easy to make.
You can make these, too, if you'd like.
Go to Country Living link and, using card stock paper, you can print two birds per page.
Cut out and fold in half as directed.
♥
♥
....using strips of paper 5/16" wide x 6" long, (I just eye-balled it)...
curl the ends around a pencil to get the curl you want...
Write the name you want, looping one end of the paper around the front leg
before sitting it on a plate.
They really are fun to make....
They really are fun to make....
You could print up a stack, go ahead and cut your little strips of paper ahead of time...
Then, just before your dinner, you can write the names and
be ready for them all....
:>)
These really would be cute with a
centerpiece of a
"nest under glass" along with more bird nests...or little bird houses....or ......
lots of ideas come to mind.
I'm using my mother's CLEAR GLASS VINTAGE CAKE PLATES
for chargers....I love 'em.
♥
All my PINK roses are spent right now....
in between the last and the next blooming session.
So, only a few Apricot roses left...
Who SEZ you can't use PLACE CARDS and VINTAGE CHARGERS
for a bowl of
APPLE JACKS....???
It was fun having a cute table for our breakfast of CEREAL...:))

ReplyDeleteBJ, I'm glad you brought those back; I'm one who missed them the first time around. I adore place cards. I don't use them nearly as often as I used to, back in my years of more frequent entertaining. But they are such fun, guests enjoy them. Even for an Apple Jacks breakfast! :D
ReplyDeleteHow could you bear to scissor the card? ;)

ReplyDeleteYour grandmother was a beautiful woman.

rue
How clever! It took me a moment to understand what I was looking at in the very first shot.
ReplyDeleteHow cute are these???!!! I love them, and will have to make some for Spring tables! Thanks!!! Hope you are having a great weekend, it is snowing here:(

What a super idea! I LOVE it, BJ!
ReplyDeleteThese place cards are lovely and inviting! It's the little things that are so welcoming :)
ReplyDeleteAdorable, but the applejacks pushed it over the edge! Awesome-sauce!!! ;)
ReplyDeleteAdorable! Loving your post and pinning it on my Cool Things to Try board for future use at my next dinner party. Or, maybe I'll try it for breakfast and totally surprise my husband and son. They probably wouldn't get the fun of it!
ReplyDeleteBJ, your table looks as good as the magazine. I loved it. And Mr. Sweet....so cute. I have used place cards a couple times. Usually it's family eating here. I was happy to see your grandmother's picture. I remember you said her name was Emma.So pretty too. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness, BJ. Cutest llittle things ever. I am not a red neck but I never have used place cards either. What a pretty lady your grandmother was. I can see the family resemblance...Happy Weekend..Judy
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! Wonderful bird!
ReplyDeleteYou have found something absolutely awesome. I think I saw those in Country Living and just motored right on by, but after seeing yours and stopping to think about it, I just can't wait to make some. I think Easter would be perfect unless I do something for the Irish holiday ahead. It could be any time of year with just a wee bit of embellishment or not. What, oh what, did Mr. Sweet say when he sat down to his little bowl of apple jacks and found Mr. Bird welcoming him? He must just cherish the absolute ground you walk on. And who wouldn't. Hugs, darlin.
ReplyDeleteOh what a cute idea! I am saving this for when I need to make some place cards:) Have a blessed Sunday dear B.J. HUGS!
ReplyDeleteYou really crack me up!!! Besides the fact that I am craving applejacks bright and early this morning, this was a great post and I'm glad you brought it back. The place cards are adorable and your replica was better than the original.
ReplyDeleteCute love it! You inspire. I can't wait to retire! Smiles.
ReplyDeleteHi bj,
ReplyDeleteWow! Finding lot's of neat ideas, just by going through my emails.
I plan to take a break and make a couple of these birds, for Mr. & Mrs. Sweet.
Really! I am going to apply Mr. & Mrs. Sweet to the ribbons. Thanks for the ideas!
Ok, I must ask! I have heard the term `chargers` a lot.
What exactly is a charger? It just looks like one plate on top of another, to me. LOL
xoxo
