~ blue

I wanted to post BLUE today but I am lazy and too tired to unpack my BLUE dishes so.... 
POST  FROM  THE  PAST....

  I love these blue dishes....and the colorful Fall leaves contrast so beautifully with BLUE.


 It was warm enuf to think of having an
OUTSIDE FALL TEA PHOTO SHOOT
and that's just what I did.


 ...along with my 1970's LIBERTY BLUE dishes

I put my vintage flatware into my beautiful little
 antique pitcher that my Aunt Lillian gave to me so so many years ago.

(I sure would rather have my Aunt Lillian than this ole pitcher !!)


These gorgeous leaves are so perfect, they almost look faux....


CRANBERRY SCONES taste even better served in a pretty way.


 Liberty Blue dishes were designed and sold to commemorate America's 1976 Bicentennial (200th anniversary) celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

This blue and white Staffordshire ironstone features different historical scenes.

Some of the historic occasions depicted on the china are: Washington crossing the Delaware, Lafayette landing at West Point, the Boston Tea Party, Paul Revere on horseback, Old North Church, Ben Franklin, Mt. Vernon - George Washington's Home, Monticello - Thomas Jefferson's Home, Independence Hall, Washington leaving Christ Church, and Betsy Ross - the nation's first flag.






I also have a magnificent collection of
BLUE WINDMILL
canister sets...

I started collecting them over 50 years ago when I bought a box of unknown content from our local train station
in their UNCLAIMED FREIGHT section.

When I opened the box, it was full of these beautiful blue windmill pieces, all made in Germany.

I fell totally and forever in love and have collected every since.

O, yes indeed....
a glorious day for an AUTUMN TEA.

    I can just imagine your delight when you opened up that box and saw the windmill pieces!! Yahoo! Your blue dishes are beautiful, too, and they look so sweet in an outdoor setting. You've made me want to make scones, I always crave them in the fall.

    A very pretty table setting for tea (coffee for me) and scones. I have always likeed cobalt blue and white together.

    Wish that I had a set of those commemorative dishes. I do have a cookie jar liberty bell from the time. What an interesting way to acquire your German set. Love those windmills and the crisp blue and white.

    Beautiful table setting bj ... love the blue dishes ... so sweet and inviting. I collected a few of the windmill dishes, but think I have gotten rid of all of them. They are very pretty.
    Take care and get some rest. This month is flying by and December is always hectic. Hope you are all settled by then.

    It is a beautiful table you've set! Love the Liberty dishes and blue is a favorite color of mine. I have a few plates in the Liberty that I found in a flea market, but I'm still looking for cups/saucers, etc. I will get the plates out and use them tomorrow! Have a wonderful week!

    the liberty blue dishes are an amazing shade of blue and what a find in that railway box, I love them.Your photo shoot is beautiful and the cranberry scones sound amazing!!!

    Blue is probably my least favorite color, but you make it look very pretty. And actually - I got married in 1979 and we had a set of those blue dishes. That was many, many years ago, tho..... not a one of them is left. Probably because I am not a fan of the color blue so it matches nothing in my house. LOL

    Whew! When you posted a few days ago that you had pared down your dish collection, these were the first thing I thought of, surely you hadn't gotten rid of your beautiful blue dishes!     Good morning bj, We are home again and so happy to be in our own 'bed.' Smile. I too love these blue dishes and remember them coming out to celebrate our bicentennial celebration. My sister has the complete set. I have never had blue dishes or anything blue in my kitchen. However, I really admire them so much.

    Your post is lovely in blue and white and the German canisters were a wonderful find. I have never bought an unknown box but I know it would be a great fun, mysterious and exciting thing to do.
