Christmas Tree.....O....Christmas Tree

Our Old Fashioned Christmas Tree

I love the old fashioned trees...we've always had them and I never tire of the traditional colors of Christmas....

OH MY GOODNESS....
I am getting excited about CHRISTMAS ...

...not for the gifts (tho, they ARE wonderful)
but just the sheer wonderment of it all takes my breath away.
I am very olden and getting more olden by the micro second...
I'll be 77 at the end of this magical month.
You might think that when one is "of a certain age", she might not like all the hustle, bustle, fuss
and DECORATING....
so may I just say right here and now....
ONE NEVER GETS TOO OLD FOR FUN.
(now, isn't THAT good to know..??)

Mr. Sweet likes to add another line to this...
"When you quit WANTING, we might as well dig the grave
'cause you'll be dead...'

 O, I love my little 4' tree
with all the old fashioned decorations on it....
Some are so vintage, I can't even remember where I got them.
(that could be because I'm vintage, too.....)
I have a few from our very first Christmas tree together...
and I have a few that were on our tree when I was a little girl...

my tree looks just about the same every year because I love all my
sweet decorations....they are a part of us.

Red and White have always been
MY CHRISTMAS COLORS.

The little gateleg table my tree is sitting on belonged to my mama..
I love having it share in our Christmas...
(i miss my mama...bwaaaaa)
*MEMORY TIME...my mother passed away just before our girl got married
and Stacy wanted to use this little table someway in her wedding...just so
she would feel at least a part of her Grandmother would be there...
she put the wedding attendance book and pen on it with a bowl of flowers...)
bwaaaaaaaaa
♥♥♥
That cute Santa, with the candle light in hand, was bought when our first grandson, DREW,
was born....well, I recall that it was for his very first CHRISTMAS...
"DREW....you can have him any time you decide you want him ! "

OH, YES...

I do love
CHRISTMAS TIME.

Don't we all...

I am using the adorable SANTA HAT for my tree topper this year and
I really like the looks of it...
MR SWEET, on the other hand, is thinking I might need to go back to the
traditional STAR.....
or
ANGEL.....
I use a lot of WHITE on this little green tree...
This is the 2nd year I've used these large, PAPER SNOWFLAKES...
They are one of my favorite things to go on our tree.
The pretty LAYLA of THE LETTERED COTTAGE

made all those amazing paper snow flakes and I nearly died, just looking at this lovely vision.
She said to just google PAPER SNOWFLAKE TEMPLATES,
I did...
and I made several of the larger ones.

I am working on some more for NEXT CHRISTMAS.
I think they are just beautiful....

I used some of the MESH ribbon on the tree this year and
let me say, right here and now...
I SURE DO LOVE IT.

It picks up the reflection of lights and colors and works very well....
no trouble at all in putting it on.
I decided this year that I'd do NOTHING that would cause STRESS.

These two long legged girls are
MR. SWEET'S
favorite decoration for Christmas.
He says they are so SASSY and CUTE.

I love 'em, too,
and will keep them out to cheer us all thru the long winter.

Then, they will be packed away for the summer.

I bought these cuties at HOBBY LOBBY last year...

These long-legged beauties are just delightful to have in our Christmas room....

( some of these photos were taken last year)

I have a lot of SANTAS
on my tree every year.

I am obsessed with Santa Clauses....

Other than the REAL Reason for the Season,
Santas are just............
well................
CHRISTMAS.....

Our tree is loaded with things our kids had in school...
little party favors in elementary school...
other things that's been on our tree all their lives...

You can barely see the tree for all the decos I've loaded on it...
just the way I like it. :)

The magic of CHRISTMAS takes my breath away.
 *****************
Thanks so much for coming by to see our tiny tree.
It surely is easier to put up,
decorate and store for Mr. Sweet and my olden self
than the 7 ft. one we had for years.

I AM DONE with decorating....
and happy to BE done...
Now...

BRING ON THE
EGG NOG WAFFLES.....
just add delicious, creamy EGG NOG to your favorite waffle/pancake recipe
and, boy, are you in for a treat.

  23. Thanks, BJ, for the very inspiring and fun post! My favorite Christmas decorations in your photos are the long legged ladies. They are SWEET!!! Oh, did I just write that? Guess I did. My concession to Christmas celebrating at my house is to keep taking photos of Christmas vignettes and shopping for gifts for my granddaughter and my 3 grown sons who live in Georgia. Love the colors and the fun in all your photos. Yippee!!!

  35. My mom had a Santa with candle in his hand, like yours.
I love to come by here and just re-live life and past Christmases.

Well, either FedEx or UPS are making their daily rounds in our area.
All the neighbors look out to see which house the package is going to today.
Getting just a tad bit antsy if the carrier is slow in getting the package out of the truck...lol

Such a fun time of year, even though we won't have a white Christmas this year.

    Merry Christmas!! xoxo
