I was so lucky to get to "hang out" with our youngest grandgirl, DEEDS
on Saturday.
We always have a good time....
and she loooves olden things...(I mean, BESIDES me.)
She loves The Beatles
and her mama got tickets to
PAUL McCARTNEY'S LUBBOCK CONCERT
on Thursday, Oct. 9th.
RUMOR HAD IT that Paul came early to Lubbock to tour
BUDDY HOLLY LAND
and that all he requested was a WHITE PIANO
and a BICYCLE.
Paul always admired BUDDY HOLLY, which was from our town, Lubbock, Tx.
John Lennon is the one that copied THE CRICKETS (Buddy's band) name
and chose THE BEATLES for their band name.
DEEDS and I spent a little time, trying to catch just a glimpse
of the infamous Mr. McCartney but.....
he eluded us , if he was ever even there. :>)
We have a statue of Buddy, across the street from
THE BUDDY HOLLY MUSEUM
...just a few of the plaques on THE WALK OF FAME
here in Lubbock.
Beside the museum, the 50's house that Buddy lived in and wrote many of his songs....
the house was moved from it's original location to the site beside
BUDDY HOLLY AVENUE.
Deeds and I wanted to go in it sooo bad but it wasn't open to the public at the
time we were there...
"We'll go back when they are open, Deeds...promise !"
♥
After we finished our walk around Buddy Holly memories,
Deeds said, "I know where we can go next..."
♥
Off we went to the BEST
50's Ice Cream Parlor...
The juke box was full of 50's music...
Elvis
Johnny Cash
Fats
Little Richard...
and don't you know I was in HOG HEAVEN...
AND
the greatest thing is that Deeds likes all the 50's things, too.
We ordered sandwiches and STRAWBERRY MILK SHAKES
with WHIPPED CREAM and CHERRIES...
and from there on, it was a
DEEDS PHOTO SHOOT
and I had a blast, catching her many adorable faces....
....a same photo....different deco frame.
I actually had more shots of this pretty girl but....
while trying to get them into a folder and email to her mama,
I accidently DELETED THEM....
I'm such an airhead...
THANKFULLY, I had these in a draft so they were saved from my blundering ways.

Isn't she so beautiful....♥

I just found out she is taking me to see
PAUL McCARTNEY, too.
Can u believe it.??
MEEE, EITHER !
At first I thought I might feel "out of place" there, being "of a certain age"
but then I remembered....
I'm only 3 yrs older than PAUL McCARTNEY.....hahhaa...gotta just LOVE it...!!

HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY, GIRLS....
Your Gra'dad and I love you to the moon and back.
It's birthday time again for your girls and my grand-daughter. They all (including Deeds) just keep getting prettier and prettier! What a fun time you must have had with Deeds. Off to have my gall bladder out this morning, but had to stop in blogland first! Sally
ReplyDeleteMy daughter surprised me with Paul McCartney tickets for my 50th birthday. It ws a dream come true. Loved Buddy Holly Land!

And you with them!
Happy Birth Days Celebrations!
What beautiful granddaughters you have. I loved Buddy Holly music. The 1950"s had some great music. You and Deeds looks like you had a wonderful time. Have a blessed day and keep on having fun. Madeline
ReplyDeleteYour granddaughters are just beautiful, bj! What a fun time you have with them and they with you. You and Deeds are going to have the best time at the concert. Say "hi" to Paul for me!! xxoo
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL GIRLS! Your pics are great.
ReplyDeleteI loved Buddy Holly - he and his Crickets were the best and a big part of my teen music days as they were so popular in the UK too.
Hope Deeds enjoys Sir Paul's concert! White piano and a bike, not much for a billionaire 'Sir' to request for his Texas concert, haha!
Lovely post - hugs, Mary
Those young gals are all downright gorgeous! I think it must be the fabulous genes and the Texas sunshine, LOL. Love the ice cream parlor photos! Fun, fun...
ReplyDeleteYour granddaughters are ALL just so beautiful! Love that Deeds loves you like that and enjoys the things you do. Everyone needs a Deeds in their life!
ReplyDeleteOur "claim" to Buddy Holly is that his last concert was held here in the Riverside Ballroom and they left for here on their final destination. There is a big statue outside the ballroom of them. I will see if I can get a picture of it for you and Deeds.
Enjoy the concert. I always LOVED the Beatles and still wonder what else John Lennon had stored inside his head that was forever taken from all of us. xo Diana
Lovely girls! And what a great day with Deeds! So glad to see young Beatles fans. Enjoy the concert.
ReplyDeletewhat a fun day for you and deeds! and happy birthday to your girls!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous girls and you certainly had a fun day. Great post.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day you will have going to the concert! All your grandgirlies are adorable.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun! I think it would be great to tour that house, How interesting they moved the house to that sight. Your "Deeds" is adorable and you got some super fun photos of her there at that 50's place. Which also sounds like a great place to visit. Lovely granddaughters below as well.
ReplyDeleteBuddy Holly's death was so tragic. He died way before his prime, and his wife had a miscarriage the day after she learned the news.
ReplyDeleteOne of his friends gave up his spot on the doomed plane for another who complained that bus rides were uncomfortable. Apparently Buddy joked to him that "I hope your ol' bus freezes up!" which he got the response that his friend had hoped that his plane would crash. Even though he said it as a joke, apparently it haunted him for decades for saying so.
Happy birthday to the twins! it looks like you have so much fun with your grandkids :>)
ReplyDeletewhat a fun day, enjoyed all the pics! deeds is cute and cool! happy birthday to the twins, they are gorgeous too...your family must have good genes!! :)
ReplyDeletebj! Your granddaughters are all beauties. Happy birthday to the twins.
ReplyDeleteBj, Happy Birthday to your g.girls. Deeds is a cutie pie. What a fun day that must have been. xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteWhat an Awesome surprise! I was such a Beatles fan -- no doubt, pretty obnoxious about it, too. (LOL)
ReplyDeleteYou're so fortunate to have found a soul-sister in Deeds .....I can just imagine the giggles! :)
Awww! Bet you2 had a great time. Definitely a time period in my life, but have to admit I was never really a Beatles fan. Not sure why - liked some of their songs but just not a dedicated fan. Same about Elvis - liked some of his music, but not a screaming fan.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful young ladies. Happy Birthday to the twins!
All your grands are just gorgeous! So sweet when they hang out with you and share there lives, just what being a grandma is all about.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy!
Hugs,
Patti
BJ,
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Grands! Your Grand daughter is adorable and what a fun way to spend the day. My Grand Gabby is 19 and one of the best ways to spend anyday! Have fun at the concert.
xo,
Vera
Deeds is just gorgeous! All of your girls are. And I have been swamped, so I have been absent from blogging a lot lately. It's fall and that means team sports for me (photography business) and an increase in NILMDTS babies to edit. :-( It seems fall is the worst time of year for that.
ReplyDeleteoh this looks like so much and your girls are beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeleteI love old-fashioned ice cream parlors.
ReplyDeleteOur youngest child recently turned 21...no longer a child.
