Sweet SUMMER TIME

With all the rain, hail and high winds out our way,
it doesn't seem like summertime.

Oh, once the rain showers and thunderstorms stop,
it will get
HOT
and
DRY
'cause that's the way summertime is out here in our part of Texas.

I have a big drawer just full of the cutest napkins...
and stack after stack of paper plates that make me smile.
Mr. Sweet never did like those little cute napkins...
said they didn't absorb like the regular, cheaper ones...
but he did think all the paper plates were ok.....😉
Bless his heart...
his eyes rolled a lot living with me.....*big smile

Oh, yes....
he especially loved those cute plates when PIE was in the equation !!! 👍

Add a little
EXTRA CREAMY
whipped cream....

and he would be saying,
"Got any more of those cute plates?"

GOD BLESS HIM....
I sure miss him

We are still having strong winds out this way....
it's not raining like it did for awhile
and it was cooler here today.

Summer is acting funny this year...
just a little different..
but that's ok.
I like it better than all the cold, cold weather.

Hope the weather is nice in your neck of the woods.

  2. The whole year has been odd, but weather is usually pretty weird.

I love your paper plates, too. I prefer the Wal*Mart knock-offs for the “good” dinner napkins, absorbent and a nice size. Anyway, you’ve inspired me to get some paper plates!

Mr. Sweet was a love. I mean, just look at that face, that grin, that sparkle in his eyes!

    1. And he still is a love! “Was” is past tense and so not correct.

  3. Pie makes EVERYTHING okay! Enjoy your summer -- I bet it's hot in Texas already.

  4. BJ, It's a dreary damp morning here. Rained yesterday and earlier this morning. Hey, pie can make me love any old plate. LOL. You make me smile BJ. I too love pretty paper napkins. So does Betsy over at Estelle's. Maybe they make me think...party time...like in school. LOL I know you miss your Mr. Sweet...I bet you had some inside funny jokes and stories together. Ted and I have relived ours the past few months to keep our spirits up. We are home now , but he has no energy, which scares me. I fear what all the chemos have done to his heart. He is at plus 40, the number of days since the bone marrow transplant. Thank God. Blessings and hugs to you my dear friend, xoxo, love, Susie

BJ we have longed for some rain our way. We finally got a tad yesterday and mercy did it make me feel better and done wonders for my little bit of squash and cukes I am trying to keep alive! So sorry to hear about all the bad weather you all have had your way. Glad you are staying dry and safe. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  8. I enjoy seeing your different paper plates, always pretty. I didn't know they made extra creamy Redi whip.

Not living under a rock. With my MS John does the food shopping

  11. Lots of rain here lately. It's the rainy season, the locals tell me.

Those decorated napkins, I like them, but Mr. Sweet was right, they don't absorb as well as the plain ones. I think the dye in the decorations is resistant to absorption.

I was sorely tempted to make a pie like what you pictured when I saw yours but I remained strong and did not. I just don't need those [delicious] calories this evening.

  12. Did that terrible storm near Dallas affect you? I also miss Mr sweet and his woodworking talent!! He was super clever! I love how you make your desserts and dinners look so delish, even on paper plates!!

  13. We missed a bunch of rain that was supposed to cause flooding in low areas. I sometimes think weathermen lie to keep ratings up.

  14. BJ, we are cold here one minute with a risk of frost and the next day things are hot. Extremely dry as well.

    God Bless.

  15. You do get some wild weather and extreme changes. My brother's family was without power for over 24 hours in Dallas.

  16. We've also had a strange start to summer this year in our part of Greece. Cool and wet much longer than 'normal' and last week, whammy, summer arrived. (I have sweat dripping off me as I write this despite a fan blowing air on me.) Yes, bring on summer. . .sweaty bodies and all!
