Changes....

It's been somewhat cold here on the
Plains of West Texas....
but nothing like in some of the other states...
and very little snow...just a sprinkling, really.

Things sure change in just a few months...

BOY, do I miss all the fresh veggies...

and, some of my friends will remember my
PRIDE & JOY
summertime Patio...
OOO, I can't express how much I enjoyed this bright pretty spot
all summer long....
I had breakfast out here many times thru the summer.
and almost every afternoon, a tall glass of sweet iced tea.
Mr. Sweet and I liked sitting here in the summer evenings...

we both just love it.

 WELL....

 it surely looks PITIFUL now...
and totally colorless....
booo hooo....
and as you can see in the background,
the raised garden that is dormant now...

What do YOU do to your outside space to add color...a bit of cheer..???

About the only thing I can do is go to the potting shed and...

Seeing these beauties help me make it thru the cold wintertime....

there's one thing that never changes.....

our breathtaking, magnificent skies....

Whether our skies are pink and blue and yellow...
or
RAINBOWS....

  1. I too am missing all the beautiful colors of springtime. With our crazy weather here, our forsythia started to bloom! I can't wait to dig in the dirt again. Of course, then we'll be complaining about how hot it is. LOL

  4. Our area is so brown and dormant, with snow still on the ground-not much I can do to perk it up. I love your sitting area in the summer with the bright cushions. Also love that you have your Poinsettia's still in bloom. That sky is breathtaking. Thanks for sharing.

  5. BJ, I love all your sky photos. I know what you mean ....I am so ready for some pretty colors at the door, on the porch, and in the flowerbeds. I got an African violet for my birthday...it is on the window sill along side a small poinsettia. It's a wee start. Blessings for a fun filled weekend, xoxo, Susie

  7. I'm not much of a gardener, but can surely understand your missing the fresh vegetables. The summer patio is gorgeous!

Just hang in there, spring then summer will be back before you know it!

  9. As always, well done my friend.

  10. Your sky shots are gorgeous, bj. I do put some twinkle lights outside for the winter. I put a pot of evergreens on both patio tables (side porch and back patio) and put a string of twinkle lights on them...and on the playhouse fence I put a strand of red heart lights and white twinkle lights, too. I also leave electric candles lit in the playhouse windows all year long...gives a bit of 'bright' on these dreary WI days and nights. xo Diana

  11. Seeing your pretty summer patio makes me just long for spring to get here. I miss the flowers and grass and singing birds. Only a few more weeks...

  12. Great shots. I eat outside a lot as well. We have a small cafe table on the back deck. The deck connects to the kitchen. I flippin'love it.

  13. Beautiful Sunsets ... Soon it will be HOT and you will forget all about the winter weather. We do not get bad winters, but have had some temps in the 40's and you would think I lived in the North Pole LOL.

    Have a great weekend.

    Hugs,
    Mary

  14. I would take your Texas weather in a heart beat. While it is warmer here than it has been in awhile, we still have about 3 feet of snow on the ground (more in drifts and piles from digging out the driveway).

    God bless.

  15. Your patio is not pitiful. Its a blank canvas waiting on you creativeness when things warm up. Those are beautiful sunset photos!
We have had warm weather but today it turned cold again.

  17. Your skill es are gorgeous! Our gazebo is used year round but right now it's a wreck! The wild wind knocked over the lamps and blew in a lot of leaves. We are in the camper this week but when I get home I'm going to have to get out there and put everything back to rights! And take the Christmas tree down that's still in there!

  18. Oh I can't wait till Spring when God shows us more of His beauty! Winter has it's own but not like Summer and Spring.

  19. I took a picture of our back yard, wooded and garden space
and decided not to post it because it was drab, dark, colorless
with twigs, sticks, mud. (I did clean up those sticks and twigs though.)
Our dreary whiteless winter finds me inviting the
miracle green springtime back very soon.
Thank you for your cheery colorful reminders
of what is yet to arrive . . .
    Glorious skies bj . . .

  21. Good morning BJ! I'm with you seriously missing summer warmth and flowers. Spring will come though and then we'll be hot tamales!

  22. Lovely photos. Before we know it spring will be here and then you can start putting your patio back in the colorful summer colors. Have a blessed day and a wonderful weekend. m Madeline

  23. Your vegetables are beautiful and love that sweet patio. I wish my DH had placed his raised bed closer to the house and maybe it would have been easier for him to work it. I don't really have anything of color out right now. I see a lot of good ideas here though. Happy Saturday!

  24. We haven't had snow in about a month now

  25. I always find that things look drabbest just before spring. Everyone gets tired of the brown and the lack of colour. Your patio is a lovely place, and it won't be too long before you're out there again. Love those bright blue skies!

  26. The weather here has been very spring-like with record highs. Remind me again - what is winter?? ha ha. February may bring us another chance at cold weather. And we only get snow about once every five years in Central Texas and everyone freaks out!

  27. Love those beautiful sky's . Yep I was looking around this morning as I was sitting on my front porch and I thought, things sure look blah ! But praise the Lord that Spring will be here before we know it . Hugs and blessings , Cindy

  28. You do have a beautiful, color-filled summer patio, bj. I love sitting on our patio in the evenings or early morning, too, but it was so hot this past summer that we rarely sat there. I missed that and hope this summer is more accommodating. :) Have a wonderful weekend!

  29. West Texas sunsets are amazing. Gorgeous. In less than two months and the freeze date will have passed. I'll get planting.

  30. We haven't had many sunny days where we live in NJ, it's horrible. That sky is gorgeous, thanks for sharing

  31. Your patio looks GORGEOUS! I love the slatted (not sure what it is actually called) top, and all of the bold colors. I wish I had your luck with geraniums. Mine get leggy and then die. :-(

  32. Oh...those skies are amazing. So glad you can enjoy that winter color. Love the reflections in the pool. Hope your weekend is going well.

  33. Won't be TOO far off, bj!

It's been a mild temperature but very grey rainy winter here - odd for us - but I've known it to snow in April so anything can happen.

I try not to set my sights on spring too early and enjoy each day, even the ugly depressing grey raininy ones....I guess it beats the alternative, haha.

I'd love to be on a nice cruise ship in the Caribbean right now though. : - )

    Hugs.

  34. How awesome you have that greenhouse to espcape to during this time of year for a little floral "boost to the spirits". I really am counting the days til we have warmer temps again. This is my least fav time of the year....however, with Valentines Day I feel we've turned the corner cuz it's followed by St Pats then Easter then before we know it...Memorial Day then the 4th! Such a great stretch of special days to celebrate and much nicer weather to enjoy!

I love your beautful patio, too!!! I have a little covered patio on the back of our house, with a small glider. I love spending quite moments there.....having coffee or breakfast or lunch and watching the birds . it's my favorite place to read, too.

Have a great LAST SUNDAY IN JANUARY!! :) L, Dana

  35. Isn't it amazing what a bit of color mixed with a bit of love can do for a space? Looking forward to the return of spring. . . Have a great week, BJ. xxx

  36. Aww, your porch was soo pretty this summer! I can see why you are missing it so! Love the bright red colors with your flowers, pillows, and little red outside table. We still have a ton of snow on the ground here, spring is still a ways off yet, you are far closer than we are, if that makes you feel any better, lol! Have a lovely evening :)

  37. BJ, I miss your colorful yard too, but I'd rather have snow than flowers myself.

  38. Yes, praise God, His promises will never change...regardless the weather. Your beautiful patio will soon be back in all its glory, as the seasons seem to come and go so fast...and even more so, the older I get! LOL! God bless you, sweet friend. :)
