Just getting READY for the annual BUNCO BABES at my house is part of the FUN...
The very first thing I always do is buy
FRESH FLOWERS....
I only have my Bunco buddies at my house ONCE A YEAR.....
so I want to make it as special as I can.
Next, of course, is
PLANNING THE MENU
and shopping for all the goodness.
(by the way....those DILL PICKLE CHIPS are AWESOME !!)
(by the way....those DILL PICKLE CHIPS are AWESOME !!)
A huge part of BUNCO is the great meal prepared by the host.
ONCE A YEAR allows you to splurge on your budget...
spend TIME getting together a good meal...a fun meal...a "something to remember" meal
for your buddies and friends..
It's just a good way to say to your friends,
"You are special to me"
It's just a good way to say to your friends,
"You are special to me"
I so love being able to use a lot of my special serving pieces...
This great piece that I bought a couple years ago from a blogger and now have NO idea WHO,
was used by a block of CREAM CHEESE with CANDY KRISP JALAPENOS over the top....
served on little BREAD ROUNDS,
....so good, ya wanna slap yo pappy.
This large Ironstone piece worked really good, holding chips.
We DO always use pretty paper plates and cups...
to me, that's just SMART.
:>)
SALSA....
why, it's pretty much a LAW in TEXAS that you have SALSA and Tortilla Chips...
I loved using this little vintage ironstone gravy boat for the SWEET/SALTY mix
that everybody loves.
We had CREAMY POTATO SOUP with cheese and Oyster Crackers...
Grape and Pecan laden CHICKEN SALAD, served on special buns..
Since I was host, I was WAAAY too busy to take very many photos.
A COOKIE BAR
was delicious and so easy to serve....
little homemade PUMPKIN BITES ...
store bought (and one of my favorites) THUMBPRINT COOKIES
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
(what kind of get-together could be fun and successful without CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES..?)
Iced, crunchy
LEMON cookies
are
THE BEST,
dipped in icy cold milk...
but...
some of us had them with hot coffee......
and, one of the most popular...
CHOCOLATE PECAN
CLUSTERS...
ummmmmm UM !
(...you can't eat just ONE)
(My WEEKLY TOP SHOT)
********************************************
We have SUCH a great time, once a month.
Some of us have been friends since Elementary school...
some are brand new friends...
and the greatest bunch of ladies I've ever known.
Do any of you belong to a BUNCO group...??

No, I don't even really know how it is played, but I have heard it is fun. I could just and eat the goodies!!
ReplyDeleteEverything looks so yummy, especially all of those cookies! Sounds like you have a wonderful group of friends and such a good time!
ReplyDeleteNo, I have no ladies group, but seeing yours makes me wish that I did.
ReplyDeleteOh! What fun, bj. You are the hostess with the mostest. The best thing at the party though is you with your sweet spirit! I guess MY invitation got lost in the mail????!!!!! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteI bet your bunco ladies loved your new home; and, as always, your fabulous food! Sally
ReplyDeleteI believe you are trying to spoil those lady friends. That's what it is all about ... fun ... food ... and friends. Looks like you had it all. Bet they were excited about your new place and you had fun showing it off. Thanks for sharing your fun time with us.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

What a wonderful array of yummy food! I know you and your Bunko group have so much fun! Thanks for sharing at TTF!
ReplyDeleteOh my Lord your table of goodies are put'in the pounds on me as I drool.
ReplyDeleteThat is a very cool spread my dear! YUM!
I must live under ah rock...I never played bunko :-(
Dear bj,
ReplyDeleteso I always learn something new through blogs: didn't know what a BUNCO group is - but now I do - and your photos show that it is worthwhile to start such a group: the meeting of friends and wonderful food. We meet with friends to play cards or Mah-Jong, but not on a regular basis. Worth to think that over! Britta
No, but wish I could be part of yours, all that food looks so good!
ReplyDeleteHi BJness! Oh, this looks wonderful! Now if I lived closer I would have crashed your party! :)
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
This looks fabulous !!! I wish I was there to play and learn BUNCO sister.
ReplyDeleteFun! That's great timing since you're just getting the Summer Cottage all fixed up. I bet they loved seeing your new home.
ReplyDeleteI'm hosting Bunco in December. Thank goodness, we all bring food. Making all of that would stress me out sister!!
I used to belong to a Bunco group and just loved it! I'd really love to find another one to join. By the way, I spy a Diane Duda print! Don't you just love her work?
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like fun! I didn't know what Bunco was or that it was a game. Where have I been? Loved your photos of the food you prepared. It all looks wonderful!
ReplyDeleteYour table and the food look delicious. I know you had fun with your friends. have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun time I know was had by all, bj! Your party food selection looks fabulous. How nice to have new and old friends for special memories.
ReplyDeleteOh, that looks like a great time! I've never heard of Bunko before, so I wouldn't have a clue how to play.
ReplyDeleteSo much fun - I don't even know how to play Bunco. Have a friend that plays and she loves it. I would love all the food LOL - sure looks fabulous. So glad that you had a wonderful time with your Bunco friends.

BJ,
ReplyDeleteYou put on a mighty fine spread, dear friend!!!
(I adore your choice of treats for your Bunco Babes!)
Only played Bunco once. . .won every round. . .they won't let me play anymore!
I'm having our JOY Circle meeting here this week. . .we're using paper items, also.
Last year, I used all my dainty china, ironed cloth napkins, polished silver, crystal stemware. . .the ladies weren't comfortable. So~o~o this year, I switched!!! I want my friends to enJOY themselves while their in my home!!!
Who says you can't teach an "old dog" new tricks???
Fondly,
Pat
I don't know what bunco is but the food looks so yummy!
