I wonder what makes a person fall in love with an
inanimate object to the point that they want to collect as much of it
as humanly possible...??
And, like TASTE, one wonders how 1 person can dearly LOVE something
while another wonders WHY..?
I happen to love love love
dishes with
WORDS
or LETTERS
or NUMBERS
....and by the looks of things, it seems I favor BLACK and WHITE dishes with words. ♥
This little Pottery Barn set is one of my favorites
and I found it in a thrift store several years ago.

The above photo is off their website...

I think the whole MUD PIE line so adorable, I just can't stand it....
I'm working on a post about the few pieces I have...
and at the same time, trying to figure out how to get MORE........

I'm tellin' you we are sisters. I love words too! And dishes.
ReplyDeleteGreat post sis!
Cute dishes BJ. The only dishes/cups that have words on them in my house are ones I have received as gifts from students I worked with over the years.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
All of your dishes are so cute. I love them all.
ReplyDeleteBev
You definitely have rhyme and rhythm in what you like and I love it all! :)

Cute collection! Enjoyed this post.

That's a fun collection to have. I have a tea mug just to remind me what it is for. I love the stamped spoons!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun collection. Words appeal to me, but they have to be the right ones.
ReplyDeleteI like words - especially some of the Emma Bridgewater dishes with black words on white pottery.
ReplyDeleteThis was fun to watch! Your cups mad me happy, too!
ReplyDeleteGreat collection !!! Makes a great conversation piece !!!!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the 'best friend' mug.
ReplyDeleteYou do have a good collection, and I love every piece. Black and white is a favorite of mine also.
ReplyDeleteBJ, I love your little collection of wordy dishes too. The side kick is too cute. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

Numbers - it is numbers on anything that get me hooked. Loved the funny story about having to buy the tree. Don't tell my husband, but we adopted a new Santa. I have so many I think he will not be noticed!
ReplyDeleteI hope you have a Sassy day too:) LOVE that mud pie line! I want some too:) Have a blessed day dear friend, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteGreat collection! I have a hard time walking by things made out of old silverware with stamped letters on them (like the Holy Guacamole spoon).
ReplyDeleteI'm not a collector but I like dishes with words on them too. I have two pieces in use that I've had for many years -- (1) a red mug that has "Ms" in big letters on it. I bought it in 1975 when Ms was still a new and strange word; (2) an antique pressed glass serving platter that I bought in a thrift shop decades ago that says "It is pleasant to labor for those we love." It must have been made in the US because of how "labour" is spelled.
ReplyDeleteGreat collection bj. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteI love your dishes with words! Funny how when we group things together we discover things, like black and white and words and numbers! Fun post and all are so cute!

As you already know I also love black lettering on white/cream china! My favorite by far is Emma Bridgewater's BLACK TOAST (the nursery china) line, but they are very expensive. There are knock-offs however so I have some of hers from England and then other manufacturers which of course aren't such good quality but are great for every day use. I have several mugs with writing too, from Homegoods where I try to stay away from because I just can't say "no" when a new piece shows up!
ReplyDeleteLove your veggie 'side kick' dish!
I too like all the black and white dishes with wordings. I rather prefer the white ones with black wordings.
ReplyDeleteHi BJ,
ReplyDeleteI like you love black and white and words on plates. White plates, black lettering. I also adore dinner plates, coffee cups and platters with restaurant names on them. Have a wonderful day, we are under blizzard watch in Philadelphia for tomorrow into Sunday.

Vera
Ohhh, I love dishes! All kinds of dishes. And I need more dishes like I need another hole in my head! lol! So, even tho I'm trying to resist buying more, I'm going to have to check out Mud Pie as I don't believe I've seen that line before. You have a nice collection of lettered and numbered pieces!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your sweet comment on my post about mother. We will always miss them and treasure the memories we have of them.
Take care and have a splendid day!

You definitely have a style and it's fun! I'll bet you just went wild when you saw the cute dish in Pier One. I don't even collect word dishes but that "side kick" might have to find its way to my house!
ReplyDeleteBJ,
ReplyDeleteWORDS to live by, indeed, dear friend!!!
How ever would I get throughout my day without Coffee, or Tea???
LOVE those mud pie cups and spoons!!!
I'll be on the look~out!!!
