Just a quick review....

 Hi, ya'll,

A couple of years ago, when I asked Stacy (#2 child) what she wanted for her birthday, she chose this beautiful ceramic GARDEN STOOL from BALLARD DESIGNS and I ordered it that very night, so it would be here in time for her birthday.

The cost was $100.00 at that time.
They have since gone up in price a little.

It arrived, in this luscious green to match things in her new library room....and we were IN LOVE.

I decided the next time I had a few extra dollars (any such thing??) that I would get my "I want everything I see" self one.

When I got my new Ballard's catalog, I fell in love all over again.
OOO, I really wanted that WHITE one. ♥ ♥ ♥

I got my "are you happy now?" self one and I love it !

Mine is made just like Stacy's....same design and everything.

One big....nay....HUGE difference, tho...

I bought mine at SAM'S WAREHOUSE CLUB
for
THIRTY-NINE. NINETY FIVE...

YEP...that's Thirty Nine dollars and
Ninety Five cents...

YEP....$39.95

SAME SIZE...
SAME DESIGN...

HOW CAN THIS BE ...??
Stacy got a catalog from another company and the garden stools, JUST LIKE THESE, were
a little over $200.00.

I just can't figure out how one store can be so high and another store so reasonable
ON THE VERY SAME THING !

The only thing I know for sure, at this point...

I am lovin' a FUN look with this adorable ceramic stool..
and...
it will be great used outside, too, for a stool or a pool-side table.
Great used in many places.

The moral of this story is....

Better check with SAMS CLUB if you have one in your town
before you order something thru a catalog.
"Thanks, Stacy Leigh, for locating these great stools for so much cheaper."

  3. Wow, that's a HUGE difference!!!! I found a silver one just like those at a garage sale a couple months ago for $10 bucks. Deal of the day!!!! I still want to paint it a fun color, but how could I leave it for that price?!

  5. Oh wow...I so need to call my BFF that has a Sam's club membership and see if they have them!! Heck it would be worth getting a new membership to get one at that price!

  11. BJ, Wow what a difference in pricing. I love those stools though. I wish I could find one made of rosin not ceramic...so it would not be as breakable. You cracked me up talking about how you want everything. Me too !! xoxo,Susie

  12. Oh.My.Gosh ... I'm stunned at the difference. Wouldn't you have kicked yourself if you'd ordered the high-ticket one and then spotted this? Darling lil' tableau you've created with the vase. :)

  13. You can get some awesome deals at Sam's Club. I think their items are purchased at wholesale? Not sure. They also have those membership fees that people pay that let them keep their prices low. But my biggest guess is that catalog company had done some RIDICULOUS marking up!

  14. Good deal!!!! I love the garden stools.

  15. They had them in Marshall's, Ross and Home Goods for $39.00 in different colors. Ballard's has lovely items, but they can very pricey.. So glad that you were able to get one. Enjoy.
    Have a great week BJ.

  16. I love it! I laughed at your line about the self that wants everything she sees! That's me, too! I think Ballard's is very pricey, too, and I see things at Homegoods that are just as nice but half the price. It's nice to get ideas from though.

  18. We are on the same wavelength today!! I've wanted a white garden stool for a long time too. However, I was not going to spend over $100 for it. Then today while in Homegoods, I came across a white one for $39.99 as well!!! I'm still jealous of the people who got them on clearance at Michael's a few weeks ago for $16 though. :) Oh well, at least I didn't have to paint mine since it was already white. It certainly pays to shop around for the best price! :)

  22. That was a great find and price. Enjoy your buy for your self piece! I just made my hubby buy me a bistro set up north. It was at a consignment shop and he thought 60.00 was too much.....that evening I told him he couldn't wear his cheap pants tomorrow and go buy me that set. He was very fortunate....it was still there!

  25. I have always loved those as well, but the price was always more than I wanted to spend. What a wonderful bargain!

  27. great find!!! working in retail I get to see the mark up on products and it is incredible. A small piece of home decor that is sold in my store for 20.00 costs the company about 3.00 ~ It's insane!!!!

  30. Wow, what a difference! I guess the volume of items that Sam's buys makes the price lower. I love the white one you got so much! Good score!

  34. What a pretty addition to any home...I really like the green one, though. As to the price difference, I think it happens all the time...you are just paying the higher price to shop in uppity stores!
    Have a great week, Jean.

  35. I see the slight different in the design at the top rim of Ballads, But hey I've gotta applaud you for saving money by shopping the big box store. Enjoy your pretty find.

  36. Cisco is another place for bargains, but you do have to know values. That is an unbelievable difference!

  37. Thank you for the great advice.
I don't see a difference, and at a reasonable price.

  38. I bet you danced all the way to the check out! Lol. I love a deal like that. I love Ballard Designs, but their prices are too rich for my blood so I use the catalog for ideas.
