Some of you may remember I copy-catted a
Christmas cake last week...
hers was so pretty...
and I just HAD to try it...
mine was going in the freezer so I didn't cut it...
I got it out of the freezer and made a thick glaze for it...
( I love SWEET too much and was afraid her drizzle of icing
might not be enuf for moi...)
I used HEAVY cream and powdered sugar and it was delish....
I used HEAVY cream and powdered sugar and it was delish....
I couldn't find any holly so I just stuck some faux holly into
a tiny vase of flowers and put it in the middle of the cake..
...taking it to our home fellowship gathering and I wanted it to be pretty.
and I almost forgot to take photos of it after it was cut...
My colors didn't look like hers but I would think every cake
would be different...
also...not sweet enuf for me...
and it was very dry.
I don't think I baked it too long as I went by the recipe,
but.....maybe I did.
We added scoops of ice cream with ea serving and it was good.

I have a thing with Christmas mugs...
just love them.
more of my
Christmas
paper plates and paper napkins...
but when it comes to my tablecloths and place mats,
I prefer cloth.
I think only 1/2 of the recipes I try that I have found on line work well for me!! But I keep trying!! It certainly looks delish with all that glaze!
ReplyDeleteBJ, I love ,love, love, how it all looks. The plaids ,the colors, napkins, plates ,and your mug...All of it looks so wonderful. Your cake looks good to me. :):) Plus some ice cream is always good on cake. LOL. Blessings to you and yours...hope you are warm there. xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteIt looks festive and nearly everything can be rescued with ice cream!
ReplyDeleteMost of the recipes. I find on Pinterest I have to adjust cooking times and tweak a bit. Love your snowman mug. Merry Christmas

ReplyDeleteYour cake was red and green inside too and that's all that counts!

DeleteI know that Christmas cake was so yummy, my mouth was watering. Merry Merry and bright Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry the cake was a little disappointing. It sure is adorable looking though. So glad you are a part of a home fellowship. We just started going to one in September and it is wonderful to have a small group to learn with. Happy Christmas to you, Sweet bj.
ReplyDeleteSorry it was dry but it sure looks pretty. I prefer cloth napkins that aren't slippery!
ReplyDeleteHow festive. I'm sorry it was disappointing but it looks terrific! (Maybe no one noticed!)

BJ,
ReplyDeleteI think your cake came out lovely!! Far better than it would have if I made it as I am no baker!! Love the cardinals too!
Thanks so much for stopping by!!
Merry Christmas!!
Hugs,
Deb
I think you made your cake plaid to match the placemats. Go ahead, admit it. . . ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty! I like a moist cake also. Love your Christmas linens and those napkins..too cute!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I love the mix of red and green.
ReplyDeleteYour cake looks delicious. Love your Christmas mugs love all your Christmas napkins etc. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteThat does look delicious
ReplyDeleteI like cloth tablecloths best too! and the OLDER AND MORE VINTAGE, the better. wow, your cake turned out SO PRETTY! you did a great job!
ReplyDeleteSorry your cake was dry, but really it does (or should I say did) look lovely.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
I bet everyone enjoyed the cake. I baked a fresh apple cake I have made dozens of times and it was a complete failure. Don't know what I did. I will blame it on the weather.
ReplyDeleteHave a great Christmas.
Hugs,
Audrey Z.
I forget about paper plates and napkins!! I use cloth napkins mostly and when I gave a party last night, I had to use plain white paper ones I keep on hand for the quads. I intend to shop after Christmas sales this year for a good supply! YOURS look great!!!
