THE PUMPKIN' PATCH ....

I don't know when I've had so much fun with PUMPKINS....
and I surely am having FUN.

It's these beautiful
CINDERELLA  PUMPKINS
that I've never had before that is what the fun is all about...

...this dark green beauty is my newest one..
Kathy, (DIL) brought it to me and I am thrilled to death with it..
THANK YOU, KATHY, for thinking of me...♥ ♥ ♥
Notice the amazing STEM...
Grandgirl, ANDREA, picked it out, saying...
"it's all about the stems"
and she is so right.

...in fact,
I am so stem conscious
I had to take a picture of a little tomato
I brought in from the garden this morning...
now, THAT'S a stem worth writing home about.....

I mentioned in another post that to make these beauties last a little longer,
you can wipe them down with Clorox wipes,
let them dry inside for about 10 days....
and then WAX them for a pretty shine.

Check out her SHINE...

...shiny and sure brings out the color.

Oh, yeah....I say BRING ON THE SHINE...

FUN FUN....
I am going to arrange them outside by the pool soon...
will be sure to show you.

  3. My pumpkin(first that we have successfully grown since 2011) developed a mold at stem... and had begun to rot... so, we Failed again this Year...

  5. They're beautiful! You know, I've never heard of waxing them ~ certainly brings out the shine! I haven't bought any real pumpkins this year...it's still so hot and they're very expensive. Be sure and save all the stems! You'll have them to make faux pumpkins next year. Have you made the velvet ones? That's what I plan to do for next fall.

    Enjoy your weekend!

  6. Oh bj ... you have some beautiful pumpkins. Makes me want to run out and buy some.
I like that you waxed them. I painted some small ones white one year and they lasted for over a year.

  8. Definitely the personality of the pumpkin is its stem! Your grand daughter is wise beyond her years. 8-)

  9. I love the "ugly pumpkins". I havnt picked any pumpkins this year. I need to let go of the pocketbook and buy a few. Im finding it hard to get in mood for decorations since my daughter lives away from home and no one ever visits. Ha.

  10. Good tips there! If I shine mine up, and I am often too lazy, I use edible mineral oil. I have one little orange cinderella pumpkin. I think that you're going to have a few more.

  11. Never, ever thought of waxing the pumpkins. What a really good idea! Thanks. And I'm a stem fan, too. The odder the better!

  12. Oh pumpkins! I left mine outside last year and I had huge magical vines and a ton of pumpkins... I will blog about it tomorrow I hope. I never learned about the wax but it is so pretty like that. What a cute lil' 'mater! ha ha... Pumpkins by the pool... Sounds like a yummy color combo! Love oranges and turquoise. I think your green pumpkin is so mysterious!

  14. I love the fancy pumpkins too. I like to stack them. I just love all pumpkins! lOL! I was thinking one day when I was out buying pumpkins how blessed we are, that we have the money to go out and spend (a lot) on a truck load full of something that we are going to take home and watch rot! lol! but somethings we just have to have! when we were kids, we each got to pick out one pumpkin for carving and we were quite happy with that.. now I need to have.... well, lets just say, way more than one. lol!
    Enjoy your purty pumpkins!
    happy sunday

  19. BJ,
Charming little Cinderella "green" pumpkin, dear friend!
Grand girl Andrea is correct. . ."It's all about the stem"!
    Love all your unique pumpkins!
I've not waxed any, but I do put a bit of Spanish Moss or Hay
beneath them to allow "air" to circulate!
    Fondly,
    Pat
