how does your garden grow ?
I took a walk around the garden areas here at the Summer House
and wanted to share here on my blogging journal.
It's so neat to have these things in the posts and be able
to look back and see how things were doing last year.
I'm really proud of how well this small, raised garden has produced.
...the grass..
so green, it looks poison..
The Crape Myrtles have just exploded...
and they are stunning in color and amount of blossoms...
I had no idea hibiscus grew this large....
....my potted plants are thriving
don't you think it's pretty cool when the dog matches the chairs..??
ha.....meee, too.
Last Wednesday, the heat broke a record for that day in Lubbock...
108 degrees...
WHEW....
that's hot enuf to make you
CROSS-EYED.
SOOO.
during the hot part of the day, this olden couple
stay inside and find something to enjoy under the air conditioner..
something like
THIS works for us...
Stay cool...
under the air conditioner...
eat ice cream...
enjoy your summer...
it will be gone
before you know it.
How gorgeous your flowers are! Your pergola patio looks so cute. And isn't it great that you got a dog to match your chairs? Now, that's decorating to the nth degree. LOL

Beautiful backyard!! Since I've been reading your blog, I've realized our backyard has nothing inviting, no pool, no fire ring, no swing. You're inspiring me to add a little love to my patch of the world!
ReplyDeleteYour place is just gorgeous!!! Everything is green and growing! That's not how we always picture west Texas!!
ReplyDeleteI'm right with you, BJ. Ice cream and air conditioning.... yep, that's for me.
ReplyDeleteooooh goodness, that would work for me as well!!! i didn't think you could grow crepe myrtle in pots?? they are gorgeous that way. your patio sitting area is adorable and i LOVE those bird baths. i assume you made those??
ReplyDeletei must say that i am surprised that everything grows that well in your heat!!!

ReplyDeleteLove your garden BJ, things are growing wonderfully for you.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
BJ, everything is so pretty at your house!
ReplyDeleteYour gardens and patio are looking more beautiful every time I see the pictures in your posts, B.J. Your doggie definitely looks beautiful in the scheme of things out there too! It has been very hot in this part of the south too. We have been eating a lot of ice cream too and watermelon too. My heart is troubled by the escalation of violence around the world for much too long and in our beloved country. I am heart broken, most recently this past week, for what has occurred in several states, including your own beautiful Texas. As a Christian and having seen a lot in my many years, I can honestly say that I have never seen more troubled times. I pray for Texas, our country and our world. God will prevail.
ReplyDeleteBJ, You have grown some good food. I also love the flower containers around the patio...it is a bright and cheery spot to relax. Yes, when it's that hot better to stay inside. Your treat sure looks yummy. Thanks for the nice exchange of comments today. So strange how much of one's life is like anothers. Bless your heart, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteYou did everything perfect. Your garden realy produced and the yard is so very pretty. With all the rain we had earlier, my yard looks better than it ever has. Grass so thick and green. Harder for me to mow tho. I have to do any outside work real early in the mornings. Stay cool.
ReplyDelete108 is way too hot, we've been lucky with 90 something
ReplyDeleteI think in the summertime . . . why cook . . .
ReplyDeleteJust bring out the ice cream, fresh berries, maybe a banana, a bit if chocolate, Carmel, some whip and cherries and it is plenty for dinner! Good idea, don't you think! By the way, Your "ranch" looks so green and colorful and simply beautiful . . .
Yikes! That is hot! you guys are doung well to keep the grass so green. And your solution for a hot day looks mighty fine to me!

ReplyDeleteOh B.J. we are still waiting to see the sun in the Pacific Northwwest and as the webs are growing between my toes these days, I've had no desire to go out and see my garden which is likely full of slugs so thank you for such a bright tour of your yard and garden. Love your pergola!

Plenty of shadows around - and pink. Your yard, patio, garden veggies and doggie are a delight to see! Thank you.
ReplyDeleteLooking so fine! Love the heart border on your pics!
ReplyDeletehow did you find so many cool and beautiful things to feature? Hot is right... I would stay in by the a.c., too!
Oh your garden is wonderful and the ice cream is a good way to survive the hot...it's hot here too!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice week
That is a HOT HOT day...but your yard is amazing :)
ReplyDeleteI wish you a wonderful start into the new week :)
Your garden looks like a beautiful park! I can't imagine how you keep those potted plants so lush and beautiful in that heat. We have had a few days in the 90's and I have to be very vigilant about water or the potted plants can be ruined very quickly. Thank you for sharing this beautiful space, you must love it!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, I'm flying down from VA to eat some of your ice cream treats! But first, my name is Mary and I've been called contrary all my life ... and the result was that I was indeed contrary growing up! So the shoe fit (or I should say the saying fit!). Fortunately I grew up and learned to get along with people ;) And for the record, the answer is that my garden never grows well, I have a black thumb. After all the flowers I bought from a reputable nursery this year for Mother's Day died, I have made an agreement with myself: Never, ever, ever buy flowers to grow again. Only buy the cut kind in the grocery store - then when they die, you can just go back and buy another $7 bundle. No aggravation ;) But yours is gorgeous and I am very successful at enjoying it through your beautiful picture.
ReplyDeleteMary
This looks fabulous -- and a question. Did you pick the chairs to match the dog? It's a wonderful photo. And that banner of yours with the flowerpot bird bath still makes my heart beat a little faster!
