I love this old shelf...
I've used it inside the house for several years....
and then,
it got left outside when we made the big move and
it became really sad looking....
A friend told me about Valspar Anti-Rust Primer and Paint
and after looking at all the colors,
I decided I wanted pure WHITE...
Summertime White....
I was mortified that I allowed it to get to this ugly stage...
now, I know there's lots of you out there that LUV rust...
but, I'm not one of them....
Oh, yes...this is more like it...
THIS is what I had in mind....
...just exactly the look I wanted outside the Summer House..
Next post will show what I have been working on to place BENEATH this beauty...
Love, bj
What a pretty planter!

Isn't it wonderful what a little paint can do to rusty treasures. It looks so good BJ and the fern looks wonderful in it.
ReplyDeleteMary
Good as new and back in service again!
ReplyDeleteBJ - looks great! Nothing better than crisp white!
ReplyDeleteJudy
BJ, Oh yes, that is so much better. I love it with the fern , perfect. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
ReplyDeleteWell done my friend. It is amazing what a little love & tender work can do to things.
ReplyDeleteBJ,
ReplyDeleteI too do not care for rust and think there is nothing like a fresh coat of paint!! It looks great where you have it and I love the greenery!! Thanks so much for stopping by!! I too grew up going to circus's and will miss the elephants. That is why I wanted to see them one last time....
I posted Part 2 of our trip to the circus if you are interested...
Hugs,
Deb
Very, very, nice. I have to get the air conditioner off the deck and then I can start setting things up for the summer.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Beautiful piece, BJ. ;-)
ReplyDeleteVery nice. I'll make a note of that brand!
ReplyDeleteThat looks very nice. I have a few things that could use another paint job and so I have taken note of this paint. It sure looks pretty with that fern!
ReplyDeleteThe green of the fern sets off the white of the shelf. The while of the shelf sets off the green of the fern. 🎶 Who Could Ask For Anything More? 🎶
ReplyDelete'white'; not 'while' - silly auto correct :/
DeleteWhat a perfect refresh. I can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteI think I would have went with white too.
ReplyDeleteAlso valspar makes a chalky paint in a spray can now. Only white and black from what I've seen
It looks 100% better!! Great job!
ReplyDeletelooks great
ReplyDeleteI am going to buy that product this weekend! Thank you BJ! I am in need of just this kind of paint for an outdoor wrought iron planter! Yours is SO pretty! Thank you for the info precious!

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful. You did a great job. Your granddaughters are amazing looking. We have six beauties but will never get them all together again. LOL too busy, they say. Got a prom coming up soon, will get photos of one at least.
ReplyDeleteOh, that's really pretty. I have been on the lookout for a baker's rack for years to do the same thing. One day, I'm going to find it...
ReplyDeleteLovely. Can't to see it's partner. I'm tellin' you were sista's. I brought home a stand from mothers on Sunday for some plants. It's needed a new dress too. I was thinkin' rust to match the other stands I have. Thanks for sharing. Have a good hump day.
ReplyDeleteYou did good, BJ! The planter looks gorgeous and I love the look the lacy fern gives it. You're the best.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I kind of liked the rusty look -- until I saw your beautiful paint job and then I realized how desperately needed it was. You really made it look terrific and I love the plant/fern inside. Very nice, BJ. (If you want to see an antique bunco card, check out my post today! I thought of you when I took the photo!)

Oh wow, I'm in love! This pretty white ( I'm crazy for white) decorative metal shelf is incredible. Bj, this is beautiful. So pretty. Love the bright green fern in contrast with the white, it just pops!!!

ReplyDeleteWonderful! I love the metal rack and the fern is always a great choice.
ReplyDeleteHappy, happy Thoughts of Home. I hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day. :)
Thanks so much for this post. I have an old metal shelf just sitting around and we have white spray paint. Next week, I am going to update that old shelf.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with SYC.
Spray paint can work miracles! That's why I own a lot of cans and find ways to use them to make something pretty again. I love that basket. And with the fern - oh, my! Beautiful!
