Hello, all...
I hope this week is going good for you...
mine is.
Two weeks ago, I cooked a fairly large roast in the crock pot
and it was so good.
Mr. Sweet and I ate it for about 2 meals and decided to
freeze the rest as we were getting tired of it.
Tonight, I took the left-over roast and juice out of the freezer
and decided to make
BEEF HASH ...
it's our very favorite way to eat roast...
and my mama could make the very best.
This is all that was left but when added to other ingredients,
it made enuf HASH for our dinner with enuf left for lunch tomorrow.
I cut up onions and potatoes and boiled the potatoes for just a bit.
Then, into the skillet with onions...
by this time, the whole house smelled sooo good..
onions frying make a wonderful fragrance.
(Mr. Sweet wants someone to invent a room spray called
"FRYIN' ONIONS".
I always add a lot of cracked black pepper...
Adding the meat and I add a tablespoon of flour to thicken the juice,
making a delicious gravy.
We especially like ENGLISH PEAS with hash...
and, besides, my mama ALways served them with her hash.
This makes SUCH a great meal and so full of flavor,
I hope you will try it sometime.

Super meal, looks so good with green peas. and I like them whole, not "mushy peas". I sometimes mince the cold leftover meat, add gravy and thyme and sage, put cold mashed spuds on top, and there is a "Shepherd's Pie" all done.
ReplyDeleteHi bj. I am finally back to blogging! That looks like such a good fall dish- rib warming and hearty. I've missed ya and was so glad to see a post from you this morning. Hope you have a GREAT day! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteMmm, this looks so good. Comfort food for sure and I am so ready for hot meals again.
ReplyDeleteBJ, the last photo sure looks so delicious and mouth-watering! Looking at it works up my appetite!
ReplyDeleteThat looks soooo good. I also love the before and after of your pretty living room in the last post. Amazing how it was transformed!
ReplyDeleteThat looks really great. Greetings!
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious. have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteWell this looks pretty tasty, though I'd probably forego the peas! It's getting to be "warm foods" season, isn't it? Hash and soup and pot pie. I love it!
ReplyDeleteHi BJ, This is what we do with left over roast too. I've never tried it with peas but it sounds really good.

My mouth is watering! I often use my left over roast to make vegetable beef soup/stew in a huge pot. I love being able to get a few meals out of one cooking session! Ha!
ReplyDeleteSheila
You're making me hungry, bj! Now I want to cook a pot roast so that I can make some hash.
ReplyDeleteOh man that looks so good.

That does look tasty. My mother used to make hash out of leftover roast, without peas, it was so good. And about bottling kitchen scents...my favorite would be fried bacon!
ReplyDeleteYou are right, frying onions smell wonderful. Chopping onions, not so much though! I don't think of making hash very often, but what a perfect way to transform leftover roast. It looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious! (Can I substitute corn for peas?)
ReplyDeleteLip smacking good!! I love onions cooking, too!
ReplyDeleteI have done something similiar with leftover roast but never knew it was hash:) I agree with Mr. Sweet, that would be a great room spray!!!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, your food always looks so delicious, BJ!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds absolutely wonderful, BJ! There's nothing better than a big ol' roast for leftovers. We love hash too!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love the hash idea.
ReplyDeleteNow that's a meal. I will try it. what bread did you have with it.corn bread or biscuits.
ReplyDeleteWow! That looks delicious. I'm going to plan ahead for leftovers so I can fix your hash next time we have roast. The weather has finally cooled down here, Perfect for roast and hash.
ReplyDeleteBJ, that looks super delicious. Now, that's how you use leftovers... lol. :)
ReplyDeleteThe pictures of your hash make it seem worth cooking a roast just to have leftovers for the hash. yummy!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great idea for leftover roast! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi BJ,
ReplyDeleteWe love Roast Beef Hash and we do the same thing as you did. We can get several meals from a roast and we always have hash as one of the meals. Your Hash looks wonderful! Thanks so much for sharing with Full Plate Thursday and have a wonderful day.
Come Back Soon!
