(this post is for our kids and grand and great grands...
just so they know we were young once... LOL )
***************************************************** We were married on Mr. Sweet's birthday in 1960
so we celebrated our 55th on April 10, 2015
We had a church wedding and my parents hosted our wedding reception in their home.
These are all pictures of pictures and aren't clear
but I surely am glad I have them.
We didn't have professional photos ...
some of our family just took snapshots of the wondrous event.
A friend made our wedding cake and it was beautiful.
I wish I had a close up photo of it....
Best man...COTTON GORDON
Matron of Honor....JOAN GORDON
very very good friends.
My mother made my lace dress...it was ice blue and so pretty.
I wish I'd saved it ....but......:(
I must have been really happy on that day...
I am grinning like a possum....
Yep....we have changed a bit, here in 2015, from that long ago day in 1960.
We've been covered in blessings the whole time
and we are thankful beyond measure.
"Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength,
while loving someone deeply
gives you courage."
Our deepest forever love to our children,
DAVID KEITH
and
STACY LEIGH....
and to all of our grandchildren and their spouses and our great-grandchildren.

ReplyDeleteOh, many happy best wishes and congratulations. I loved this post. Hope you are feeling better! You both look great... Then and now. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteHuge congratulations - not many couples get to celebrate this one! We're working on it though - like you we feel blessed - there have been blips along the way, but we're still here and very happy! Your grand/great grandchildren will love this post I know! History is important and so many families are remiss in not leaving details for the coming generations. Now we have digital and blogging etc. so no excuse - just do it say I!
ReplyDeleteHugs hugs on your very special day, you both look fabulous.

Happy Anniversary to you two love birds! It's fun to see your wedding photos, BJ. Happy, happy time! We had a small church wedding with a reception in the church parlor. Someone once commented to me, " What happened to simple weddings with receptions with just wedding cake, nuts, and mints?" Ha! We know it doesn't take a big formal wedding to seal the deal. ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this special day, BJ.

We seem to have several things in common...I was born in Dallas also and lived in Amarillo 10 years, not that far from Plainview. :) Wish we were closer, it would be such fun to visit!

Congratulations on a long and very loving marriage... How proud you all look in those photos, and the first wedding pictures are lovely too.. Its rare, but having such a long relationship must be great for your children and their children to know that it is possible.. that divorce is not the usual outcome if you love deeply.. I love seeing those photos and will be back again, hugs and congrats again from over the pond.xx
