Schindler's List

I'm not quite finished with movies yet..

I posted about GONE WITH THE WIND...
and THE WIZARD OF OZ.
Both great movies...

but the other night, Mr. Sweet and
I decided to watch
SCHINDLER'S LIST
for the 5th time.

I cried just as hard this time as I did the first 4 times.
Crying so hard, the nose is totally stopped up..
headache that even 2 Tylenol didn't help...
can't walk straight getting to the bed..
heartbroken all over again about how the Jewish people were treated...killed...

....THE MOST POWERFUL MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN.

Liam Neeson is one of our favorite actors and he did such an outstanding job in this movie...
his BEST performance as far as I'm concerned.

The girl in the red coat is the most obvious symbol in Schindler’s List, simply because her coat is the only color object, other than the Shabbat candles, presented in the main body of the film.
To Schindler, she represents the innocence of the Jews being slaughtered.

If you've never seen this movie, please do.
It will absolutely bring you to your knees.

If you HAVE seen it,
please share with us what you thought of the movie.

  2. This is one powerful flim! It's extremely hard to watch, however it's important to do so. I was fortunate enough to have met a very sweet woman who was a Holocust survivor. We worked together in Virginia Beach. Currently, HBO has three documenteries on the Holocust. I thinnk this is the best performance Liam Neesen ever gave.

  5. BJ,
My favorite movie is "Breakfast at Tiffanys" love the concept that two misfits can fall so deeply in love. Not only Jewish loss their lives ... I'm Polish and many relatives died in camps in Poland. I can not ever rewatch Schindlers List, one watch will stay with me the rest of my life.
    xoxo,
    Vera

  6. B J, I have seen this movie. It does make me cry too. When I was young, I saw a documentary about the camps where the Jewish people were kept and murdered. I will never forget that, never. My all time favorite movie is Little Women....any version. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  7. That is one movie we have not seen and I'd be as you were I'm sure. It would be difficult to watch. With all the anniversaries of the First and Second World Wars there have been many stories in the news re-visiting the events of those terrible wars. They are even difficult to watch.

  8. I seem to cry anytime I see or read what happened to the Jewish people. The Nazi regime was horrible and I for one am glad we defeated them. Have a blessed day. Madeline

  10. There are a few movies that I can never watch again...The Passion of The Christ comes to mind and Schindler's List. That is not to say that their stories have not remained with me...they very much have. It is just that I can not handle the intensity. I hope to see Unbroken, but it will be a movie that I only see once.

  11. I have never seen this movie, but clearly I should! I typically watch comedies...or anything starring Channing Tatum. Clearly I need to expand my watch list.

  12. I don't watch movies much, except an occasional old favorite like "Barefoot in the Park", or "Breakfast at Tiffany's". I normally like light movies, no stressful drama, lol. Watching other people's drama stresses ME out, isn't that silly?

  13. I pick a movie to watch every weekend. I think I will look for this one on Netflx or Amazon.
I intentionally have not watched it because the subject matter is so sad and brutal.

  14. I've seen Schindler's List and have the book. It's a movie everyone should see and I'm glad you mentioned it as I think I'll rewatch it again soon. Love Liam...he's such a fine actor!

  15. I've never seen this for the exact reason you mentioned, I know it will be heartbreaking. But it is a movie I think I should watch sometime.

  16. I have never seen the movie. I don't think I want to. My heritage is German/Russian. My grandmother was part Jewish. I can't watch it. But I know it is probably good as movies go. I cried when I went to Ellis Island. It was hard to see how difficult the people had it when they first came here, with literally the clothes on their backs.

  20. It's a haunting story, one that I'll only watch once. The Passion of the Christ is one I never wanted to watch, but it was being shown in a high school class I substituted for. I came in half way through and stood in the back of the classroom with tears pouring down my face. How cruel humans can be to other humans. Still, we need to remember and not forget.

  21. Ah, you're so right. All these years later, reading your words -- and my breath catches a bit in my throat. Masterpiece theater for sure.

  22. One of my Top Ten Favorites of all time.

I have been trying for over 8 months to get my niece to watch it with me - she is 14 and friends are her world. She went to the Holocaust Museum in DC for her 8th grade trip and has written a few really well done papers on WW2, etc. so I know she is ready for it. I want her to spend the night when she does, as it is long and it is INTENSE.

It is a movie I find myself thinking about often, I truly do - it will come out of nowhere and hit me hard.

I have seen it 4 times and am ready for my niece and I to sit down and watch it together.

    Great post, bj. Hugs.
