I watched
DIRTY DANCING
again this morning with my breakfast...
I lost count of how many times I've seen it a long time ago.
What IS it about this movie ?
Low budget...
not expected to reach the heights that it obtained....
it's listed as one of the MOST ROMANTIC movies ever.

The above scene had all our hearts racing...
“Me? I’m scared of everything. I’m scared of what I saw,
I’m scared of what I did, of who I am,
and most of all
I’m scared of walking out of this room and never feeling the rest of my whole life the way I feel when I’m with you.”—Baby
“We’re supposed to do the show in two days, you won’t show me the lifts, I’m not sure of the turns, I’m doing all this to save your ass, what I really want to do is drop you on it!”—Baby
“Look, spaghetti arms. This is my dance space. This is your dance space. I don’t go into yours, you don’t go into mine. You gotta hold the frame.”—Johnny
...and my favorite quote from the movie,
"I carried a watermelon."
Both actors were fabulous dancers...
and together, it was ELECTRIC....
Jennifer was 27 when she played the part of BABY at 17.
She is now in her 50's...
She had plastic surgery on that cute nose and it really changed her looks.
Patrick was 34 when he played the part of 25 year old JOHNNY.
He passed away in 2009 after a battle with cancer.
OOO, THE MUSIC...
Since the movie was set in the 1950 era,
all the music was MY KIND OF MUSIC....!
Lot of times, when I am cleaning house,
I put the sound track on and get my work done SO MUCH FASTER...
of course, at my olden age,
after dancing around dusting and rearranging things to the music,
I'm out of breath and have to sit down and have a COKE....😁
Hoping you have a DIRTY DANCING kind of day !
P.S.
I ordered this cute wire shelf from a cute ETSY shop
(when I remember which one 😙.... I'll tell you )
and I am hoping I can make MINE as pretty as THIS ONE...
I just love it all...
I have little wooden boxes...
white matches...
a white candle...
and a jar of greenery and flowers....
and OF COURSE, put my own spin on it....:)
Yep....I am loving it all.
OOOOOOO....
and we have painters coming on Wednesday
to transform our
SUMMER HOUSE
into the creamiest white EVER...
It's called TOASTED OATMEAL
white with only a hint of the lightest tan..
it's the next lightest shade of the paint Mr. Sweet and I painted our bedroom,
NATURAL WICKER
I THOUGHT I didn't care for the texture on these walls...
but with WHITE
I am going to LUV it.
If you are looking for a wonderful candle to burn every single day thru
AUTUMN,
you might like this one...
APPLE CINNAMON by glade.
less than $3 and it burns for a long time.
I bought 4 yesterday to scatter throughout the Summer House
so that it would smell like
ONE BIG CINNAMON APPLE.
XOXOXOXO

Dirty Dancing is one of my favorite movies too. A lot of it was filmed at Lake Lure, NC not far from where I live. While boating on the lake our friends showed us the stairs that Baby danced down in you picture above, and where they did the lifts in the water. Looking forward to seeing your white walls!
ReplyDeleteDirty Dancing is one of the best films ever made. It was set in the 1950s when everything was so much simpler. It's one of the best decades we had. "Some like it hot" was made in the 1950s. Need I say more.?
ReplyDeleteI like music also when I am cleaning. However, now that I am olden, I have to sit down a lot and rest in between LOL
ReplyDeleteLove your little shelf and there is so many things you can do with it.
I like the color you picked out for the walls, it should look great!
Take care dear friend - I am doing the laundry today - it's Monday.
Hugs,
Mary
Love your wire shelf BJ ... you will have fun with that one. The white walls will sure brighten up your space. Can't wait to see the finished job. Thanks for the info on the candles ... I need to get some.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you my dear friend.
Audrey Z.
I love Dirty Dancing and have lost count of how many times I've watched it. That paint color is really pretty. I would love that color on my walls, but I rent. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteSo you have lots of kindred spirits out here-that is one of my all time favorite movies and I watched it this weekend too. Loved the music, loved the dancing and loved Patrick too. Such a shame we lost him so early. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Noreen
Such a great film. Oh, I just love the name "toasted oatmeal". I purchased some new Glade fall candles, Cozy Autumn Cuddle (pumpkin, caramel and spice). They smell divine! Got them at Target.
ReplyDeleteDD is one of the best movies, ever! I don't even know how many times I have watched it!
ReplyDeleteDD is one of my all time favorite movies. I loved everything about it. - Your wire shelf is just darling.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I don't think I've ever seen Dirty Dancing from beginning to end. I know parts of it, but not the whole thing. Hmmm, I think I'll see if they have it on Netflix. :)
ReplyDeleteI love the thought of you clean dancing around the house with your feather duster!! Brill film, one of life's all time happy movies!

As soon as I saw Dirty Dancing, I had to stop by!! I am with you!! I think I have watched that movie over a hundred times!! We are going to see the stage play of Dirty Dancing put on by a professional touring company in Feb. at our local Performing Arts theater! I can not wait!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Deb
I am probably the only human on earth who has never watched Dirty Dancing. I will have to change that someday! Good luck with your painting project and love that shelf!
ReplyDeleteGreat movie/music . . .
ReplyDeleteI need to watch it again, NOW!
I think Toasted Oatmeal will look fabulous . .
with that new wire shelf piece!
Wonderful!
Love that movie. Your wire shelf is going to look wonderful. I will have to buy some glade candles. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteI love Dirty Dancing. I am not a dancer, so watching and dancing along "inside" is the best I can do. Where are you going to put that cute shelf? I can't wait to see the summer house with white walls!
ReplyDeleteI'm probably the only one in the world who has never seen that movie, LOL!
ReplyDeleteI hear the TV remake was pretty bad, I never saw either versions
ReplyDeleteI don't know what it is either, but Dirty Dancing seems to be a favorite among all of us! Your new shelf is great...I can't wait to see how you display it.
ReplyDeleteThose white walls are going to be sharp. I have watched that show maybe twice I REALLY liked it. For some reason I cant set and watch shows over and over, just me. You will do something fabulous with your shelf, I don't have the knack for decorating. Loved our music back in our day. Makes me sad at the sounds of today, don't know how anyone can dance to it. I did love to dance some fifty years ago.
ReplyDeleteOhhhh everything is going to look so purty! I want white!!! Im sick of this dark paneling in my den and kitchen!
ReplyDeleteDirty dancing? Oh I could watch that show a hundred times and not get tired of it. I live about an hour away from Lake Lure where it was filmed.
Lisa
I can just picture you cleaning your home while watching Dirty Dancing, bj. You're just so cute!! M
ReplyDeleteYour wire shelf is so cute, and I'm loving the paint color! It's going to look so fresh and bright.
Thanks for the tip on the candle for Fall! xx
loved this movie and loved Patrick, he was taken from us way way too soon. He was a true gentleman off camera as well, a real person, not fake. Loved this movie and the music! Loved all his movies.
ReplyDeleteOne of my FAVES evah! I love the music and those two will always be dancing in my heart! Love that shelf! Can't wait to see what you do with it:) Have a sweet day dear B.J. HUGS!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was the music, my kind of music!
ReplyDeleteI know you are looking forward to a change in color of the walls, can't wait to see what you do with that rack, I know it will be pretty.
Have a blessed day,
Sue
I enjoyed reading your blog post bj. Now you've inspired me to watch that movie! I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much!
ReplyDeleteglad to see you had stopped in to view the big pretty purple morning glories! Thank you for your sweet compliments and probably no outfit post---I am not fashionable at all, one bit! ha ha ha LOl Half the time I don't even "match", ha ha, I just try to stay comfortable and MOST OF ALL---COOL down here in this heat. Thank you for the compliment though! Anyone who knows me knows I just love to play around with accessories, especially big pretty hats and lots of beads and necklaces, to me those are "fun fashion". Oh, and I am a pocketbook hoarder, LOL-----how bout you?
ReplyDeletePS--the morning glories pictured are not mine but I DO GROW THOSE exact ones every single year and have a knack with them and guess what?----this year NONE OF MINE came up. Very dissapointed as usually by this time of year our whole porch is softly covered with curtains of them
ReplyDeleteI buy Glade candles all the time, love them.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Hi there. I've been thinking about you. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI've never seen that movie, but I really should.....she didn't get many roles after the nose job :/. I don't usually comment but check in here regularly. Praying blessing, dear BJ
ReplyDeleteBJ, wondering if you saw Crazy Stupid Love? My favorite part of that movie was when the Dirty Dancing lift was recreated! If you can believe it, it was even more romantic than when Baby and Johnny did the lift. I even bought the Crazy Stupid Love movie so I could watch it over and over.
ReplyDeleteI buy Glade candles all the time, love them.

All I can say is I just love your enthusiasm and fun-loving nature! Dancing while dusting is just the best way to do it!
ReplyDeleteThat wire shelf is adorable! I can't wait to see how you spiffy it up! And how fun to be getting some painting done on the house! I remember when Patrick Swazy died of cancer, it was such a shock. Friends of ours in Texas knew him when he was growing up, before he got famous. So sad that he passed away so young. I hope you are doing okay BJ, praying for you! Hugs :)
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to pop in to say that I have missed you- I did a little post but am still gone from blogging for a while. Hope you are doing well. I think about you often. Love you lots- Diana
ReplyDeleteI only saw that movie once. I'll have to look for it on Netflix or something. The walls will look fabulous. I saw you were taking a break. You continue to be my thoughts and prayers.
