~ APPLES

Mr. Sweet and I have always loved apples.

Here in our part of Texas, we have HI PLAINS ORCHARDS

THIS PHOTO AND WORDS BELOW in blue ARE FROM A 2009 POST.
"MR. SWEET and I went apple pickin' today (Tuesday)
and we had such a good time....even ate lunch at the orchard.
We had Mexican food which was pretty good but the bestest of all...
FRESH APPLE CAKE......
O HONEY! "

We came home that day with a basket of beautiful and delicious apples.

Wish we had gone there more often...

Apples have been used in a lot of my food photos over the years.

I've always liked this photo with fruit, fall leaves and cotton bolls....

...and I remember how much fun I had with these little green apples, stacked on a mirror...

I made this apple wreath several years ago...

I remember taking all the apples off when I wanted a different wreath..
wonder where those faux little green apples are now..??

The other day, I had 5 small Fuji apples
(those were Mr. Sweet's favorite because of the thin skin)
and
some pastry shells.

....gooood things can come from little apples and pastry shells...
♥ ♥ ♥
chop the apples..
add them to a bit of water, a bit of cornstarch, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and
100% pure Apple Juice
and gently boil until the apples are tender...
the juice  will thicken...ummmmmm

and then you can add whipped cream and fresh mint
and you've got yourself a mighty fine dessert.
....pretty, too.

  12. I like Fuji apples too but my favourite apples at the moment are Pink Ladies. Very, very firm apples. Have you ever tried them? I don't know where they're grown. I want to say Australia but I have no clue if that's even remotely true.

    1. I just checked Wikipedia and yes, they come from Australia! Their official agricultural name is Cripps Pink apples. They are marketed under the name Pink Ladies. Guess that sounds more appealing, LOL!

  15. Oh, how yummy these look! And, it sounds like they weren't too, too hard to make, either, which makes them all the yummier! Thank you for sharing, sweet friend. I am praying often for you!

  16. I was ready for the arrival of fall before reading this post, BJ, but now I want it to come even sooner for the joy of apple picking and then the pleasure of baking with apples. Last but not lest is the enjoyment of eating them in baked treats. I'm sure that Mr Sweet is smiling too at the memories.

  21. I also used up apples today. I got a big bowlful from my neighbour and today I made apple pie filling for the freezer. Tomorrow I think I will use up the remainder in some muffins and a cake.

    God bless.
