Pioneer Woman's BUTTERY FRENCH BREAD WITH THYME

(her photo)
OOOOO.....HONEY

Where does this amazing woman get her recipes...??
does she invent them..??

This bread is so simple, you can't even call it a real recipe...
You start with a fresh beautiful loaf of FRENCH bread..

 slice it into, length ways...
NOW...this next step will have you going back to look at her "recipe"
2 or 3 times,
because, like me, you can't believe that one whole stick of BUTTER
goes on EACH half...

Yes, ma'am...

the sticks of SALTED BUTTER  (not margarine)
need to be very soft...room temp.
and I even put my sticks in the microwave for about 6 seconds to make sure they
weren't going to give me grief when I started spreading all that
golden goodness on that luscious bread.

yes.....that is a lot of butter....
a LOT of butter...

and, I'm hear to say that this is DELICIOUS
and goes together so fast...perfect to share with family and friends...

...especially with homemade soups...

I made this bread to take to our home fellowship gathering on Sun. evening.
The menu was
hot soups
salads
breads
ice cream and cookies...

We each brought a dish (or bread, as the case may be).

We have a wonderful group of friends that we worship with.
And,
we always have the BEST food.

  2. Oh-butter- sweet butter! You know that for many years it was illegal in WI to sell margarine or oleo and that it was state law that restaurants had to serve butter. When you read the 'bad' about oleo it really makes you hesitate to use it. xo Diana

  3. OMG - I could eat the entire loaf LOL. I have her new recipe book - terrific recipes in there. Try her fudge, it is the best ever and only 2 ingredients.

    Hugs,
    Mary

  12. This looks simple and wonderful. She has another french bread recipe that involves grated cheese, chopped olives, butter, and mayo. It's so good with a pot of beans - fancies up the meal! I am making a roast in the crock tonight and this sounds like a good go-with. Thanks!

  15. I always use real butter after my doctor told me that it was healthier than margarine. This looks like something I'd love to sink my teeth into. Right now. :) Enjoy your day!
