Cranberry Pecan Pie

I saw this recipe on one of my favorite blogs,
and I just HAD to make one for our Thanksgiving gathering.
The more pies and cakes we have, the better we like it...!

it just sounded like it would be perfect for the day.

 I've used my Aunt Lola's
NEVER FAIL PIE CRUST recipe since 1967...
and, it has never failed.

 This recipe makes 2 crusts...

I've never been able to make a beautiful crust...
 ....but it will do.
Now, THE REDHEAD tells us not to use chopped pecans in this pie...
 and to use FRESH CRANBERRIES

but...
I only had CHOPPED pecans...
and frozen sweet DRIED cranberries.
bummer...

but when I googled
"Can I substitute sweetened dried cranberries in recipes
that call for fresh cranberries ?"
I loved the answer:
"Yes, sweetened dried cranberries work well in baked goods; however there is a ¼ cup difference in measurement. If a recipe calls for one cup of fresh or frozen cranberries, use ¾ cup of sweetened dried cranberries. Sweetened dried cranberries should not be used in cooked sauces."

While the pecan pie was baking,
I made a

CARAMEL APPLE CRUMBLE
Pioneer Woman's recipe
I forgot to add this link..
I used her filling recipe and call mine a crumble.

A very good start on
THANKSGIVING DESSERTS..

Play this and get in the BEST mood...
OOO...
and ya gotta turn your sound up HIGH....

  3. Hi bj, Yummy beyond my will power. Your aunt's pie crust recipe is exactly like my mom's. However, she always made it better than me. The ice water is a big deal. Love your post and your "best MAN win" words.

  21. Oh, Yum! That is the same recipe that we got in Home Ec class back in the 60s. I wonder if that was the standard crust. My mother always used LARD for her crusts and they were the best I have ever had. They always came for Aunt Mary's (my mom) pie. That crumble looks delicious and so does that cranberry pecan pie. oh my! xo Diana

  22. Oh I think I will make the pecan for my neighbor. He mows our grass. Well actually it's weeds.
All I have to do is keep him in pies!
This weeks link is up. Come over and bring the pies!
