cherry luv

CHERRIES are one of my favorite summertime fruits.
They have been extra good this summer...

 and extra BIG.....

Speaking of CHERRIES...

A few years ago, I found these sweet cherry dishes at
♪ ♪ GOODWILL

they are such fun

Not a full set....just a few pieces but sweet.

On this morning, I was hungry for BISCUITS...

I keep these packages of Bisquick Complete
biscuit mix in my freezer most of the time.

You can just add  water and they are delicious...

I have to add a few of my own ingredients to make them
MY OWN...

A little salt.. SOUR CREAM ( or BUTTERMILK instead of water)
....if I add just a bit more flour, they "favor" my made-from-scratch" biscuits.

While those delicious biscuits are rising and baking in my oven,
I'm gathering up goodies to go along with them...

 Oh, my goodness...
there's just nothing better in this world to me than
a hot buttered biscuit....

Cherry Preserves
and SMUCKERS is the very best
UNLESS you are lucky enuf to have a jar of HOMEMADE on the scene.

I used to make Cherry Preserves years ago when our children were little..
we had 2 small SOUR cherry trees in our yard when we bought the house.

The sour cherries made the BEST jelly but the trees died after a few years
and I've never made cherry preserves since.

MERCY ME...

  2. Loved your Goodwill, Cheery, Cherry dishes . . . good find.
Top it off with some "bj tweaked" biscuits and cherry preserves . . .
    We have a BINGO . . .
Cherries are a big business in this part of Michigan . . .
I will have to look for some sour cherry preserves!

  3. Looking so good ... love fresh cherries too. Yes, the cherries have been really good this year. Good for you too. Mr.Z's favorite cherry preserves and I have to go all the way to Walmart to get them. Our HEB does not carry them. Just made a few jars of plum jelly, so that is my favorite right now.
Stay cool ... looking forward to Fall and cooler weather.
    Hugs,
    Audrey Z.

  10. Mmmm, those cherries look good. Don't have any on hand but have been thinking about biscuits and strawberries. I add a dash of sugar to my bisquick for a shortbread touch when serving with fruit.

  19. BJ, I have eaten so many black sweet cherries I think I"ll turn into one. Traverse City up north calls itself the "Cherry Capital of the World" (which may or may not be accurate) but one thing is sure -- they are abundant at this time of year. Every photo in this post leaps off the page and makes my heart sing. And now, I'm off to the fridge to get some cherries for breakfast!

  20. Mercy me is right bj! For both the dishes and the biscuits. If you saw my basement kitchen, it is filled with cherry dishes. One of my weaknesses. :) Growing up we had a huge sour cherry tree and my mom made lots of bottled cherries. Great for cheesecake! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
    hugs,
    Jann
