The Angel Girls....

We have quite a few Christmas decorations and while
SANTA is my favorite...

THE ANGEL GIRLS
are Mr. Sweet's fav.

They've been in our family for about....ummm....6 yrs, I think.
Hobby Lobby....

They are very well dressed...such cute sox...:)
actually, they look more like leg warmers....I love 'em.

...and they've done their shopping early...

and....look how warmly they are dressed....
adorable hats and jackets and warm winter scarfs..

I want curly blond hair...
_

Yep....the secret is out....
I am almost 78....and I still play with dolls.

do you..??

I made my favorite pie today for a good friend....

CHERRY.....

It's in the fridge...and I'll take it to her tomorrow...

...all I could do to keep from cutting it and having a piece...

I use my little BLUE BIRD to vent the pie...
my daughter in law gave it to me several years ago and
I use it every time I make a 2 crust pie.
and...
I always use melted butter, sprinkling of sugar and lots of cinnamon
on that top crust...
O hOnEy,,,,,
sooo good with those TART cherries.

CHERRY HAND PIES
are Heaven on Earth....
(if you like Cherries,that is..:)
 *****************
1/2 to 3/4th cup of SUGAR
(I use TART CHERRIES (not pie filling)
1 cup of SUGAR
3 Tbl. CORN STARCH
2 cans RED TART CHERRIES
1 capful ALMOND EXTRACT
1 Tbl. melted butter
♥ ♥ ♥
350 oven.....until dough is nicely browned...
Drain cherries, SAVING ONE CAN OF THE JUICE...
(i save the juice from the other can and add sugar and all the other ingredients
and dip cookies...or candy....or just eat it with a spoon..I LUV it)

add this juice, cornstarch and sugar in a sauce pan and, on medium heat, cook til thickened, stirring constantly.
Then slowly add the cherries and almond flavoring.
Roll your dough (store bought or homemade) into circle, cut 8 squares, add small amt. of cherries to each one.
Roll (any way you can),
crimp with fork to keep as much of that delicious goodness INSIDE.
Brush each with butter and sprinkle cinnamon and sugar on top.
PUFF PASTRY would be AWESOME, too.
Warning...watch them closely as the juice is bound to bubble outside the pies
and they will burn quickly on the bottom......just keep checking them.
DO NOT use canned pie filling...
the tart cherries with no sugar makes for the very best pies.
***********
bye bye.....xoxo

  4. Those dolls are super cute. :-) And I don't think a girl is ever too old for dolls. I have been wanting one of those realistic looking reborn baby dolls every since I have seen them. But - of course - I am SAYING that I want it to use as a training mannequin for NILMDTS trainings. But - I just want it. But - the really well done ones are $900 or more so I am not going to have one anytime soon.

  5. The angels are so cute!!! Just perfect for Christmas.

The pie looks wonderful. I make my own pie filling from the tart cherries we grow on two trees in our yard. They make the best pies.

    God bless.

  10. Angel Girls and Cherry Pie for a friend and Bubbly Hand Pies for whoever-drops-in. I'd say you've got the Christmas Spirit covered---all good will and gracious thoughts.

Someday in the New Year, could we talk a minute about how you make these absolutely ethereal, clear, perfect photos? I'm Grandma-Booked every minute til maybe January 5, but would love to have a little moment later to hear about how you do it.

  13. Thanks for stopping by Driller's Place. The youngest of the grandcrew is now 12, so PJ's are no longer Christmas Eve, morning attire. I miss those days. Love the Christmas sisters and the cherry pie looks marvelous. I will be watching the debate. I'd just like them to focus on the issues and bring real ideas to the table, not just political rhetoric. Have a blessed day.

  21. Oh, that cherry pie sounds delicious. I am going to make some fudge tonight to pack in my suitcase.

I love your angels. I was chatting with Kris of Junk Chic Cottage telling her that I don't have any angels. I used to, but I did a big purge a few years ago. I am going to look for an angel in Hawaii. That way I will get my angel and she always remind me of this upcoming vacation.

    Happy Christmas!

    Happy Christmas.
