Hello to all...

I'm still fluffing and fall/winter nesting in our living room
and trying very hard to bring a cohesive look to our
cozy and comfortable space.

Our living room is very large..
and was, before we moved into the summer house,
almost 2 rooms without a wall between.

My camera just won't scan that much space ...
there was a large pool table in this area where our fireplace and chairs & etc.
are right now.

We also have our black and white tile table (that Mr. Sweet built) in this end of the room.

The other end of this large room is the media area with our twin leather sofas,
large screen tv
book shelves and Mr. Sweet's leather recliner.

I needed to bring some of that sweet black and white
to the other end of this large room.

Sooo, I gathered up some black and whites from
 the "decorating closet"
and added them to the media bookcases.

I put some black and white toile pillows on the sofas...

but THIS is what made a HUGE statement in the black and white department.

I am lovin' this cute and dynamic topper for our double windows on our East wall.

I've always loved BUFFALO CHECK to the moon and back and when
my sweet girl suggested a black and white curtain or cornice of some kind for that large window,
I dreamed of buffalo checks all night long.

The very next morning, I was at the fabric store..
found the check I wanted...
bought a tension rod  to fit the window...
bought a bag of black curtain rings...
(this is SUCH a NO SEW project)

...pressed the fabric...
attached the rings...
put it all on the rod
and Mr. Sweet and I got that topper installed in less than 2 minutes.

No holes in the wall...or on that pretty molding around the window.

I just love my new topper....and I don't even like curtains.

Hugs, bj

  27. Curtains are a much different job to tackle than they used to be, as the mounting is so easy. My daughter just made a "roman shade" for a room they are finishing, and it looks fabulous. Very little effort.

  31. I adore black & white! Love the buffalo check and the table...great creations. The fireplace is soooo pretty! Everything looks just perfect as well as warm and inviting.

Did you use an iron on type adhesive to hem the topper? I'm not one for curtains either but sometimes we just need or want them! :)
