Do You Know The Muffin Man...???

 Hello, Everybody..

The GOOD LORD has really been blessing West Texas with RAIN....♥ ♥ ♥
However, Mr. Sweet says this much rain at this time of year is not good
for the cotton crops....
and farmers out here mostly raise COTTON.
His daddy was a cotton farmer and had the most beautiful crops, most of the time.

I love baking when it rains....wonder why that is?
My mama liked it, too...and I always had a good tasting treat
when I came home from school when it had rained all day.

So, this rainy morning, I baked...

Have you seen this muffin mix in your grocery store and wondered if it was good?
I am going out on a limb here but....
I've never cared for MARIE CALLENDER'S products. :(
O, I know they are supposed to be healthy...but...I just don't think there's nearly enuf flavor there.

SOOO, when I saw this muffin mix, I pretty much knew right from the start that I would buy it and would ADD my own sweet things to it....that's what SEMI-HOMEMADE gals do.
The package calls for
1 egg
2 T. oil
1/2 c. milk

and...I added
1/4 c. brown sugar
1 cap full Vanilla
a dusting of cinnamon
MORE CRANBERRIES and PECANS
because I LOVE CRANBERRIES & PECANS...

I ALSO love my little measuring cups...
and I can not, for the life of me, remember where I got them.
If I can remember, I'll post it so YOU can get some, too, if you want them.

Aren't they pretty all dressed up...
some have STARS in their eyes...
some are walking on THE WILD SIDE...
there's one in her SPRING GREEN...
♥  Sassy little muffins...♥

Mr. Sweet and I added a dot of butter while they were warm...

and, since I added all my goodies to the mix...

they are no longer all that healthy....!!
But, boy, are they ever tasty and fun to have for a
RAINY DAY BREAKFAST.

P.S.  I am having fun learning how to use my new blue Canon Point and Shoot camera.
All the photos in this post were taken with it and I haven't had to use
editing nearly as much as with my olden Kodak.
Believe me, I have more fun taking PICTURES of the food than preparing it.
It's the pictures that I love so much about blogging.
xoox

  2. Looks like your camera is working great! I only bake muffins from a mix, never from scratch, and there are some really good ones!

  5. Your blog pics are works of ART!!! You turned me on to mixes a few years ago! I used them a lot when we were living in our camper.
I, in turn, have not introduced my sister in law to them as well. She uses them all the time now! I'll have to share this post with her!
Ah, blessed rain!! We only got 29 drops the other day! Enjoyed the rain here in Colorado last night! I think we will go up to Cripple Creek one day this week. I remember you doing a post on it when y'all were here in July. However we will NOT be going down Phantom Canyon! I'm afraid that would do Louis Dean in!!! Have a good week, my dear!

  6. You have always had great photos BJ, but these seem especially sharp and clear. Nice! I love baking on rainy days too, it just seems so cozy and it makes the house smell so good! These look delicious. I don't think you added anything unhealthy to them at all!

  7. You are something else. I do not think there is a thing you could not do if you really wanted to. You are an excellent cook, blogger, wonders with computer and camera. Now me, I eat my muffins right out of the pan. Nothing fancy here. You make things so pretty and tempting. We still have not had rain, but little cooler today. Going to mow in a few minutes.

  9. I love to bake when it rains too. : ) Those muffins look fantastic! It's chilly here in Baltimore today so i decided to bake a delicious pineapple upside down cake... which sadly, ended up upside down on my kitchen floor. : (
    Have a great day.

  10. Not even an hour ago, I was walking through the grocery store and I happened on a 4-pack of muffins (2 blueberry, 2 banana nut). My son loves muffins, so I decided to surprise him by buying the pack for him. His words to me---just one half hour ago---were "Just call me the muffin man." I said, "Wouldn't it be funny if you one day lived on Drury Lane." Then I get on the computer, and there you are talking about the muffin man.

    Your photos are great!

  11. Cranberry orange is one of my favorite flavor combos...I'm sure your "enhancements" made them quite a bit more yummy too. Your pics are great and like you, I get a kick out of photographing food as well :)

  18. Sounds yummy - I did not know MC had a muffin mix. I used to buy some of the MC frozen main dishes, but have not in years due to the sodium content.

  19. I have never seen a MC mix! I don't know if we carry them around here. My hubby does like her pot pies but I don't think they are all that healthy either.
Love those little measuring cups and that camera takes GREAT pictures. I would not guess it was a point and shoot because there is such clarity to the pictures. You DO take the BEST pictures, bj.
Have a great night- xo Diana

  20. Mmmmm! Those look delicious. I love baking muffins - made carrot raisin (for coffee/tea breaks) and corn for soup accompaniment - both yummy. A lot of the first so stashed half the batch in the freezer!

    Happy Autumn - Mary

  23. I am with you, I love the pictures in blogging and yours are looking mighty tasty today.

  24. Love your additions to the muffins. I used to like Marie's pot pies, but the last time we had them...I didn't care for the crust. I haven't seen these yet in our stores. You always seem to be ahead of us with new products.

  25. It's beginning to look a lot like Autumn.
    Those muffins look scrumptious.

I do like those measuring cups with the bold print.

  26. BJ,
    YuMMy!!!
I have been doing some baking here on the Prairie, also, dear friend!!!
The cooler temperatures in the morning get my baking juices flowing!!!
I made a cranberry coffee cake today.
I'll let you know if it's post worthy!!!
Give my best to "Mr. Sweet"!
    Happy Autumn!

  27. Your pictures are always great, bj! I wish I had your talent with a camera, that's for sure. I'm ready for a muffin and wish you were my neighbor. I like how you doctor up a mix to make it your own. May you have a beautiful day out in west Texas.

  28. Wild Bill was worried about cotton crops the other day too. He's retired from Dept of Agriculture and his granddaddy had several farms when he was growing up in Texas so I guess it comes natural to him like it does to your hubby. It amazes me how many people don't realize that Texas was once the cotton capital of the South.

Does it sound lewd to say your muffins look great? Have a happy day!
