If ever you....

and you are lucky enuf to have a very small amount of
EGG NOG
in your fridge....

give it a try.

O my Goodness...

they are delicious. 

I've told you about those AMAZING PANCAKES in my last post

and that I seldom use SYRUP on pancakes or waffles....

I will admit,
 HERE AND NOW,

that BISQUIK MIX
was used in preparing these amazing waffles....!!



The only thing I did was use EGGNOG in place of milk

and

added a capful of VANILLA..

ALWAYS !!

 Why.....I do believe my SNOWMAN is smiling at this great breakfast....

I was smiling, too.....

but, I was smiling BIGGER when, on an overnight trip and staying in a motel

with a breakfast buffet,

my waffle came out of the waffle maker in

THE SHAPE OF .....TEXAS....

ain't life grand !!

I watched TITANIC again, for about the 1000th time, over the holidays...

such an awesome movie.

It's like brand new, every time I see it.

 In my opinion,

HOLLYWOOD couldn't have chosen more perfect actors for this movie.

The beautiful lady that played the olden ROSE,

GLORIA STUART, was wonderful in it.

She was a raving beauty in her younger years....

and I thought she was still beautiful at the age of 87, when she made this film.

She was the oldest actor to be nominated for a competitive Oscar for her role in

TITANIC.

Gloria died in 2010 at the age of 100.

and, of course, the movie ROSE, Kate Winslet, is a beauty in her own way.

When I come back for my 2nd life, I hope to look just like HER. !!
(WELL,  and to have LEONARDO as my boyfriend)

Gosh, how I would have loved going
behind the scenes and watching the filming of this movie...

 The cruise ship's captain, Francesco Schettino is now being tried  on charges of multiple manslaughter in the wreck and abandoning ship.

also a tragedy...

but sooo  uncalled for.

and all the CRUISE SHIPS that have had trouble in the last few years....

it's enuf to make one think twice before
setting sail...

I've thought twice and would take a beautiful cruise at the drop of a hat. !!
I have to find someone to take it with me...

Mr. Sweet doesn't care for cruising altho  he LOVED our 
ALASKAN CRUISE.
If he could go on that one again, he'd go...

I like going to the WARM SPOTS...

the beaches....
the water.....

 The very best vacation I have ever had in my entire life was the
Caribbean  FAMILY Cruise
we all went on several years ago...

let's see....

there were 14 of us and it was
a FABULOUS time,
from start to finish.

FLUFF.....

I Love Fluff....

Yes ma'am...I do love a FLUFFY PANCAKE

and, I do believe THESE are about the most fluffy and delicious and LIGHT pancakes

I have ever tasted.  ♥

 

I posted about these a year or so ago but we had these light and fluffy

pancakes this morning and I wanted to remind YOU of them...

 

I don't want you to miss out  on something THIS GOOD....

 

 THEY, as you can see, are a ♥mile high♥,

not your wimpy, limp pancake you sometimes see...or make...

as in MY case...MAKE. 

 

 Now...being THICKER, one might tend to think they are HEAVY...TOUGH.......

NOPE...♥.NOT SO.
They are so light and tender, they nearly float off your plate ! 

 

I hope you will try these...

maybe this Sunday morning ...??

 

They are a breeze to whip up...

and wouldn't they just knock your sox off if you had a big slab of SMOKED  HAM to serve with them!

O HONEY

 

MOST of the time, I like jam with my pancakes..

Mr. Sweet's eyes roll so far back in his head every time he sees me get the jam out of the fridge,

that I wonder if he will EVER see again. 

 

I think that he thinks there's a law somewhere that says you MUST use a good

maple syrup or something kin to maple syrup on PANCAKES.....! 

 

REALLY, YA'LL...

Pick up some REAL buttermilk next time you are at the grocery store.

I ♥make my own♥ a lot...you know, a cup of milk and a cap full of Vinegar or lemon juice...

but, as great as these taste...I just KNOW it's the thick, creamy REAL THING

that is a big part of why they are so good. (that and the soda added, maybe)

I followed her recipe to a tee..

when she says the batter is THICK but it's supposed to be..

and she said "you can add a little more buttermilk if you want them thinner",
I didn't add one drop more.

The ONLY thing I DID add was a cap full of Vanilla.

But then....I add Vanilla to just about EVERYthing.

You are gonna LUV 'em....

I just know it.

P.S.  While his mouth was full, Mr. Sweet was asking if we could have them again in the morning....

THESE BOOTS WERE MADE FOR WALKIN'....

When MR. SWEET SANTA asked me what I wanted for Christmas, 

I said NEW BOOTS....

have you EVER seen anything sooo popular in your entire life..?? 

MEEE, EITHER.

They look so cute on just about EVERYone....

Now, I have to say that I've had black leather boots for several years

but I wanted NEEDED new, up-to-date, 

get-down BOOTS.

BOOTS that said, "HEY.....look here....we are STYLIN'.....

My pretty and smart granddaughter, LACEY JEAN, said,

"Memaw, you should wait 'til after Christmas 'cause

DILLARDS put most of their fine boots on for about 40% off."

Well, I did just that....

Mr. Sweet and I took a short OUT OF TOWN trip to see cousins

and was at DILLARDS at 9:00, when they opened the doors.

 Being there when the doors opened allowed me to pick and choose the ones I loved

and found them all in my size...

YEP...I GOT 3 PAIR.....!!

 These are shorter tops and they are the cutest things you've ever seen....

I swoon all over myself every time I glance their way...

 ...just take a look at all that detail on the heel...

and buckles have always set my heart
a'racin.....:)

The color of these is such a rich brown and
the leather is satin soft.

These black ones are so comfortable...

a zipper on the inside for easy on and off...

BUTTER isn't a bit softer than this leather.

And, I am totally in love with the buttons....

and, here's the 3rd pair....

a bit of a higher heel.....

AND LACING DOWN THE BACK...

OOO HONEY !!

They don't REALLY lace down the back...just LOOKS like it....

and....

did  ya notice the BUCKLE....?

I'm not going to be looking like NANCY SINATRA in my new boots...

but you can bet your life,
I'M GONNA BE STRUTTIN' MY STUFF...
hahhaa....gotta love it.

Christmas Day, 2013

CHRISTMAS EVE EVE.....

The night before our annual CHRISTMAS EVE FAMILY TIME, 

I start preparing for our Christmas Eve Feast.

We always....ALWAYS have HAM.

 Not just "any ole ham" but a delicious

HONEY GLAZED HAM.

Tonight, I am getting things going for a 

KNOCK 'EM DEAD

Potato Salad.

I start off with BABY RED GOURMET POTATOES....

After scrubbing them clean, I boil them to just the right consistency....

I want them done thru and thru but not mushy.

I like to be able to slice them into nice chunks for the salad.

...such pretty red peppers....

I chop the peppers...

and green onions...

always green onions....they are so full of flavor.

(Memory time here....:)

When I was a little girl, my mama always had a garden 

and she always planted onions.

When she would bring some in from the garden,

it was my job to wash them.

She always told me to run water into the green ends as bugs might be inside the stems.

I still do the same to this day....and I never, EVER find a bug .

After I get all my veggies chopped, I sprinkle them lightly with Morton's
Nature's Seasons.

It really brings out the flavors...

and into the fridge to add to the potatoes tomorrow morning.

After everything is added, the potato salad will have time for all the flavors to marry before I serve it along with our delicious ham.

Another thing being made ready for CHRISTMAS EVE....

Most of you call them PINTO BEANS...

out here in West Texas,

they are RED BEANS.

and, BOY....

do they go great with HAM and POTATO SALAD. 

They have been soaking most of the afternoon...

and will cook all night long.

...by serving time CHRISTMAS EVE,

they will be just right....

and so delicious.

After all this food prep, we were starving so

Mr. Sweet

enhanced a PAPPA. MURPHEY'S  

CHEESEBURGER PIZZA

 with peppers, 

bacon

onions.....    

baked it for 12 minutes in a 425 oven and....

we dined 

IN  STYLE....

MERRIEST CHRISTMAS, EVERYONE.

TODAY is

CANDY MAKING DAY.....

We start off with candy made from the infamous
                 BARK.

I always have a batch of
PEPPERMINT BARK.... 

 ....and VANILLA COCONUT

and....CHOCOLATE CHIP MARBLE

and

PURE PECAN

and a favorite behind PEPPERMINT...


CRANBERRY PECAN with 
TOASTED COCONUT ON TOP...

 

YES, MA'AM...

we made candy today.

Tonight, I plan to make my mama's recipe of 

DATE NUT LOAF....

OOO, I do love it and she made it every single Christmas since I got my first tooth !!

and

PECAN DIVINITY is on my list to make but.....not today.

It's CLOUDY .....a little RAINY.....

and I've been told all my life that DIVINITY won't "set up" on these kind of days.

 MR. SWEET  SANTA just came thru and said he sure hoped
he'd have a plate of these candies waiting for him on 
CHRISTMAS EVE.....

 

 and I said,
"You bet your black, shiny SANTA BOOTS you will...."
 

 They do look mighty good, don't they....

A CHRISTMAS  P.S.

I just made a wonderful SIMMERING POTPOURRI
that has every room in our new home smelling like HEAVEN.

Orange peels and a few slices....
cinnamon
whole cloves
slices of lemon
add  water.... 

put it all in a RED pot and simmer, keeping a watchful eye on it.

O HONEY

Mr. Sweet just stuck his head in the kitchen door, sniffing like a hound dog
and wanting to know "when can we eat it...?"
Not to eat, my good man...
just a
CHRISTMAS SMELL-GOOD TREAT...
give this a try instead of using candles and room spray, for a change....
now I want to do the CLOVE/ORANGE thing....:>)
